Chapter 1: “Mr. Lu, she’s dead. Are you satisfied now?”
Life is like a ship leaving a trail on the sea, slowly fading, slowly disappearing…
Li Mo’s vital signs were gradually fading away.
It is truly terrifying the height of the nineth floor. In just a few seconds, a once-lively life ended…
What remained was the heart-wrenching cry of Sang Yuwan. Just a minute ago, she was telling me how she wanted to visit Erhai Lake, how she longed to return to the fields of her childhood, where we could spend a wonderful time together…
It was really hot in the summer, but Li Mo loved it. She said she could wear beautiful dresses to show Lu Cichuan. But unfortunately, the man she loved never believed her and ultimately the man who caused her death…
The summer wind was a bit strong today. Do trees cry because they can’t hold onto their leaves?
Within a day, Sang Yuwan had handled all of Li Mo’s funeral arrangements. Her tears had long run dry. She wanted nothing more than to stab Lu Cichuan right away, but that would be too easy for him…
“Miss Sang, Miss Li is ready for cremation,” the staff quietly reminded.
“Alright. Please, could you make a call to this person?”
“And this is…?”
“Her husband.”
The staff immediately understood, quietly noted the number, and stepped out to make the call from the waiting room…
——-
At the Erhai Lake
“Brother Cichuan, this lake is so beautiful!” Zhou Yanguan twirled in her light pink dress, her playful and cute makeup making her look like a princess at first glance.
“As long as you like it,” Lu Cichuan responded gently, but his heart was a bit uneasy. His right eyelid twitched rapidly, as if something big was about to happen.
The phone rang. “Hello?” His voice was cold, catching the other person off guard.
“…Hello, is Miss Li Mo your wife?”
“Yes. What kind of trouble has that wretch caused now?” Lu Cichuan rubbed his temples impatiently.
“Um… Miss Li’s body is being cremated. Please come to collect her ashes in two hours.”
Lu Cichuan froze. Li Mo was dead??? He almost believed it, but quickly dismissed the thought. She wouldn’t die, not when she still insisted the child she carried was his. Even when he had pushed her into the sea before, she had begged for mercy for herself and the child she claimed was his.
There was no way she would die. He still had her brother’s life in his hands. The Li family only had her dear brother left… Even if she was dead, he couldn’t care less.
“Heh…” Lu Cichuan chuckled lightly, clicking his tongue against his cheek before hanging up.
The staff member, seeing the call end, couldn’t help but feel sorry for Li Mo. Even in death, her husband didn’t care…
“Hey, Yi Han, find out who just called me and teach them a lesson for trying to fool me.”
“Yes, sir!”
After hanging up, Lu Cichuan lit a cigarette. Zhou Yanguan, sitting across from him, couldn’t help but gaze at him with an alluring look in her eyes.
Of course, who wouldn’t want the most handsome, wealthiest, and most powerful man in all of Huaian City?
“Brother Cichuan, who were you talking to just now?” Her soft voice was sweet, just like her appearance, though her heart was dark.
“Nothing important. Someone tried to trick me, saying Li Mo had died. Hah!” He blew a smoke ring before continuing, “Just any random cat or dog thinks they can lie to me.”
“If it were true, you’d be heartbroken.”
“Who cares? It’d be better if she were dead.” Though he said this, his voice softened. He spoke carelessly, but Zhou Yanguan was attentive. Inside, she was cheering, though she put on a playful scowl, pretending to scold him for speaking so harshly about Li Mo…
Five minutes later, Yi Han brought news that Lu Cichuan still found hard to believe:
“Mr. Lu… your wife… she really has passed away…”
