The Price of Satisfaction
The Price of Satisfaction Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Mr. Lu, She’s Dead. Are You Satisfied?

Hearing the news, Lu Cichuan paused, cigarette in hand, his voice trembling slightly: “Are you sure?”

“Sure…” Yi Han had checked the number and found that it was from an employee of the largest funeral home in Huaian City. He was about to investigate further when he saw the news of Li Mo’s suicide by jumping from a building…

“I understand.” Lu Cichuan hung up and stubbed out his cigarette. Zhou Yanguan, knowing he didn’t like anyone around when he took calls, quietly walked off to admire the sea.

Erhai Lake… the place where they first met.

Lu Cichuan slowly approached her and said, “Yanguan, something urgent came up at the company. I have to head back now. I’ll return tomorrow night.”

“Huh? Okay… but make sure you come back soon,” Zhou Yanguan said, clinging to his arm and acting playful. To outsiders, they looked like a loving couple.

Lu Cichuan pulled his arm away and left. Zhou Yanguan didn’t believe him, but she couldn’t expose him. She made a call to Xu He to confirm a few things…

Huaian City – Funeral Home

“Miss Sang, here are Miss Li’s ashes…” The staff’s eyes were red, and their voice choked with emotion.

Sang Yuwan stared at the small, square urn, closing her eyes and sighing. How could a living, breathing person fit into such a small box?

She took the urn. It was so light… She couldn’t help but remember how Li Mo used to maintain her weight at ninety pounds, always striving to look beautiful for Lu Cichuan. But when she jumped, her body looked like it weighed barely fifty pounds…

“Li Mo, I’m taking you home…” Sang Yuwan gently caressed the photo on the urn, the person in the picture smiling brightly, beautiful enough to make anyone stop and stare.

Suddenly, the door was rudely kicked open. A man stormed in, panting heavily, his tongue pressed against his cheek as he looked coldly at Sang Yuwan and the urn in her hands. The photo on the urn was glaringly offensive to him…

“Where is she?” He slowly walked over to Sang Yuwan. She answered indifferently, “Mr. Lu, she’s dead. Are you satisfied now?” Sang Yuwan stared at him with icy hatred, wishing she could kill the man standing before her.

“Who do you think you’re fooling? You slap her photo on any urn, and suddenly it’s her? Ridiculous!” Lu Cichuan’s eyes were slightly red, glaring at Sang Yuwan as if waiting for her to tell him Li Mo wasn’t dead, so he could continue tormenting her…

But… Sang Yuwan left, and this was real.

“Stop!” Lu Cichuan grabbed Sang Yuwan roughly, his grip so tight that she stumbled, nearly falling.

“Where is she?! Do you really think you can deceive me with this pathetic act?” Lu Cichuan’s eyes were bloodshot, looking as though he could tear someone apart.

Sang Yuwan’s fury could no longer be contained. With a sharp slap, her hand met his face with a loud “smack,” leaving everyone at the funeral home stunned.

“She’s right here! In this tiny box!” Sang Yuwan screamed, her voice filled with anguish. “The most precious and lively girl…. you destroyed her in your own hands… I wish it were all just an act!”

She wiped the tears from her face, glancing up to see Yi Han rushing in.

“You didn’t believe me aren’t you? but surely you’ll believe your loyal assistant, Mr. Lu!” Sang Yuwan’s words dripped with venom.

If looks could kill, Lu Cichuan would have died a thousand times over by now.

Yi Han saw the expression on Lu Cichuan’s face; he looked like a demon. The tears in Lu Cichuan’s eyes were just as stubborn as he was, refusing to accept the truth… After a long silence, he spoke coldly: “Good. Dead. At least… she’s no longer in my way.”
