Bigamy Life is a Bit Sweet
Bigamy Life is a Bit Sweet Chapter 2.1

The aroma of food woke Du Lingyun.

He got up from the sofa bed in the study, his black hair slightly disheveled, his eyes sleepy, and he felt confused for a few seconds.

To catch up with his work, he had been working all night in the study until almost 4 am before going to sleep, and now it was not even 10 am.

He had slept for three hours.

He ran his hand through his hair and patted his cheeks to wake himself up, yawning as he walked out of the room, instinctively following the smell of food.

Then he froze, staring at the figure busy in the open kitchen, wearing a dark blue apron that made her skin look as smooth as jade.

It was his wife.

She was actually… cooking?

Du Lingyun unconsciously pinched his arm. It hurt… so it wasn’t a dream?

But how could it be?

That was Jian Lanxi! She had been pampered since childhood, a princess who grew up in a greenhouse, never entering the kitchen, and too lazy to even make instant noodles.

And now she had actually prepared a table full of delicious breakfast, with a pot of chicken and mushroom congee, several stir-fried dishes, as well as Western-style dishes, including perfectly cooked omelettes, fruit salads, and a pot of fragrant coffee.

He found it difficult to speak, his voice dry and hoarse. “What are you doing?”

She heard his voice and seemed to freeze for a moment before turning around and smiling at him.

“You’re awake? Good morning.”

He stared at her sweet and elegant smile, not remembering her ever smiling like this before. Her temper had always been spoiled, smiling brightly when happy, and showing a sarcastic smile when unhappy. This kind of light and gentle smile with an inner quality was not like her.

Seeing him staring at her without saying a word, her smile froze for a moment, seeming a bit uncomfortable.

But she still tried to continue smiling, showing a tentative kindness towards him. “Are you hungry?”

His gaze fell, looking at the plate of fried fish she was holding. “Did you make all this?”

“Yes.” She tried to naturally place the fish plate on the dining table. “I don’t know… I don’t remember what you and Yang Yang like to eat for breakfast, so I made a lot.”

He narrowed his eyes and looked at her again. “When did you learn to cook?”

“Ah?” She was stunned.

“You didn’t know how to cook before.” He paused and added, “You never entered the kitchen.”

Never entered? Cheng Yu was dumbfounded. Judging by Yang Yang’s age, they must have been married for at least four or five years, and Jian Lanxi had never cooked a meal for this father and son?

“Then who took care of your three meals?” she asked in a daze.

He observed her reaction carefully and explained, “I took care of it myself. In the morning, you always bought bread and milk for Yang Yang and then sent him to the nanny’s house. For dinner, we mostly ordered takeout, and the part-time housekeeper came twice a week, sometimes helping with cooking.”

Part-time housekeeper? Nanny?

She was shocked. “You hired a nanny to take care of Yang Yang?”

“You insisted on hiring one.” His gaze was sharp. “When Yang Yang was two years old, you found a job as an administrative assistant in a law firm.”

“So I had to go to work every day?”

“Given your current condition, it’s best to rest at home for a few more days. I’ve temporarily asked for a week’s leave for you from the company. When you return to work, I’ll go with you to the company to explain your memory loss.”

“Let’s talk about it later.” She had no interest in going to work at the company. It would be better to spend more time with Yang Yang.

Cheng Yu looked up, her eyes unconsciously revealing a glimmer of hope. “Since I’ll be at home these few days, can Yang Yang stay at home? I can take care of him…”

“No need!” he abruptly interrupted her.

She was taken aback.

Du Lingyun noticed the panic in her eyes and softened his tone. “It’s better to leave Yang Yang with the nanny. She has always taken good care of him, and Yang Yang likes her very much.”

What did he mean? It was as if he didn’t want her to be alone with Yang Yang. Was it because her current state made him uneasy? Or…

Cheng Yu was lost in thought when suddenly, a soft and tender voice called out.

“Dad! Dad, where are you?”

It was Yang Yang.

The child, still groggy from sleep, rubbed his eyes as he walked out of the room. Seeing this, Du Lingyun immediately turned around and picked up his son.

Yang Yang’s small hands naturally wrapped around his father’s neck, his expression full of longing and dependence.

This child, upon waking up, immediately looked for his father, but seemed hesitant and afraid to approach his mother. Did he not have a good relationship with his mother? How did Jian Lanxi treat her own child?

Cheng Yu felt a pang in her heart as she looked at Yang Yang, whose face still bore the red marks of sleep. She really wanted to hug him and kiss him.

But she couldn’t do anything, afraid of scaring him. She could only try to show a kind and warm smile. “Good morning, Yang Yang. Are you hungry? Mom made breakfast.”

When she said the words “Mom,” even Cheng Yu herself was a bit surprised. She could say it so naturally, without feeling any discomfort, as if it was only natural for her to be the mother of this lovely child.
