Chapter 94: Meeting the Parents?
Upon hearing Luo Sang’s words, Fei Li’s gaze shifted regarding the white bone.
He never expected it to truly be a bone. Why was Hu Zong carrying it around?
Considering the respect Luo Sang showed toward this bone, it must be… Fei Li’s heart ached for Luo Sang as he attempted to move closer.
Just as he took a step forward, he heard Luo Sang’s voice.
“Fei Li, don’t come over.”
He halted, obediently refraining from advancing.
Luo Sang’s icy gaze fell on Hu Zong. “Where are my people’s bones?”
“I already told you, as long as you…” Before Hu Zong could finish, a pained sound escaped his mouth.
The fox orcs exchanged glances, helplessly watching as Luo Sang crushed another of Hu Zong’s arms underfoot.
Having already expended much of his spiritual energy to deal with Luo Sang and Fei Li, Hu Zong was at a disadvantage now that Luo Sang was filled with rage and his spiritual power had increased.
Seeing his predicament, Hu Zong gazed up at the sky, a hint of a smile appearing in his eyes.
Turning back to Luo Sang, he smiled even brighter. “I’ve already chewed up and swallowed your people’s bones bit by bit. I only left this one because I respected your father as a powerful opponent.”
Seeing the killing intent in Luo Sang’s eyes, Hu Zong continued without fear. “You probably don’t know! The White Wolf Clan is born with spiritual energy. After I consumed your people’s bones, my powers increased significantly. Haha… I should actually thank your kin.”
As soon as Hu Zong’s words fell, Luo Sang kicked him hard in the chest, sending him sprawling on the ground, spitting blood.
Fei Li, standing nearby, observed Hu Zong closely, sensing something was off.
“You really deserve to die!”
After Luo Sang spoke, his claws mercilessly pierced through Hu Zong’s chest.
“Leader!” Hu Zong suddenly turned to the fox tribe, showing no sign of fear of death on his face.
Struggling to catch his breath, he managed to say, “I can die, but my people are innocent. In light of the fact that I left you your father’s bones, please spare my tribe!”
“I’m not you, I won’t act like you.”
Hearing Luo Sang’s response, Hu Zong finally closed his eyes in relief.
Upon witnessing this, the fox orcs glared at Luo Sang with murderous intent.
Luo Sang picked up the white bone from the ground, holding it to his chest, and coldly addressed all the fox tribe members, “You can go.”
The fox tribe hesitated for a moment, but ultimately left with Hu Zong’s corpse.
The fierce battle ended with Hu Zong’s death.
Mitu sighed with relief and approached Fei Li, looking at Luo Sang with concern. “Luo Sang doesn’t look well.”
The annihilation of his tribe was like a deep-seated thorn in Luo Sang’s heart, it didn’t hurt normally, but external influences could cause intense pain.
“No one can endure such suffering repeatedly,” Fei Li’s voice was calm.
Mitu fell silent, shifting the topic. “With the matter of the spirit spring resolved and Hu Zong dead, our Ox tribe will never forget your kindness. If you need anything from us in the future, don’t hesitate to ask.”
He nodded at the serious-faced Mitu.
Mitu bowed slightly before leaving with the other Ox orcs.
The surroundings were eerily silent, as if Luo Sang’s sorrow permeated the air.
Fei Li quietly approached Luo Sang from behind and wrapped his arms around him.
Luo Sang froze for a moment, leaning against him.
“Don’t be sad, from now on, I’ll be your only family.”
Suddenly turning around, Luo Sang looked seriously at Fei Li. “Actually, what Hu Zong said is true. Back then, I…” Before Luo Sang could finish, Fei Li covered his mouth.
He smiled gently at Luo Sang and then shook his head.
“The past is the past, I don’t want to dwell on it anymore.”
This was a world of the survival of the fittest. Even if the Yuri tribe wasn’t attacked by the wolf tribe, they would still be targeted by other orcs.
Compared to now, the outcome would only be worse.
The heavy weight that had long pressed on Luo Sang’s chest finally lifted.
Luo Sang tightened his grip on Fei Li’s hand. “Let’s go back to the tribe!”
Fei Li responded with an “mm.”
Just as they were about to step forward, Fei Li suddenly stopped, staring intently at the bloodstains left by Hu Zong on the ground.
“What’s wrong?”
He turned to Luo Sang, expressing the confusion he felt inside. “Don’t you think Hu Zong’s reaction is a bit strange? He seemed intent on dying and never put up any resistance.”
Luo Sang snapped back to attention at his words.
“Hu Zong wouldn’t act this way just to protect the fox tribe. There must be other reasons behind it.”
Luo Sang’s expression grew serious, his brows furrowed. “That cunning Hu Zong didn’t forget to scheme against me even in death.”
The two stood in place, deep in thought.
After a moment, Luo Sang spoke again. “Let’s go check out Hu Zong’s home.”
“That’s exactly what I was thinking!”
As they stepped out into the fox tribe’s territory, they were stopped by the fox orcs.
“What are you doing here? Hu Zong has already been killed because of you, can’t you leave us alone?”
The fox orcs looked at them with a mix of hatred and fear.
They hated Luo Sang for killing Hu Zong, yet feared that the two might wipe out the entire fox tribe.
Fei Li, feeling angry, placed his hands on his hips and glared at the fox tribe. “Hu Zong’s death was his own doing, what does it have to do with us? Luo Sang left him with a whole corpse, and you should be grateful for that.”
“What are you doing in the fox tribe?”
“Where is Hu Zong’s home?” Luo Sang asked bluntly.
The fox orcs exchanged glances, upon seeing Luo Sang’s dark expression, they reluctantly revealed the location of Hu Zong’s house.
The two passed by the fox orcs and headed straight to Hu Zong’s home.
After a short walk, they arrived at a house.
Fei Li peered inside and turned back to Luo Sang. “This should be Hu Zong’s home.”
Luo Sang sniffed the air and indeed caught a whiff of Hu Zong’s scent inside.
He stepped ahead of Fei Li and entered the house.
They looked around the interior, which was quite ordinary, with nothing unusual.
After circling a few times, Fei Li turned back in disappointment. “It seems we were mistaken, there’s nothing left in Hu Zong’s home.”
“Impossible!” Luo Sang immediately refuted Fei Li’s words without a second thought.
It was rare for Luo Sang to be so certain, which made Fei Li curious. “What do you think Hu Zong would leave behind?”
Luo Sang shook his head, unable to explain.
They continued to search the house but still found nothing.
As the sky gradually darkened, Luo Sang’s resolve began to waver. Could it be that he was overthinking things?
He raised his eyes to Fei Li and was about to speak when suddenly, a warm sensation came from his arms.
Noticing something was off, Fei Li quickly moved closer. “What’s wrong?”
Luo Sang pulled out the white bone he had been holding, letting it float down into an inconspicuous corner of the room.
They exchanged glances and immediately rushed to the corner.
“Could your father be trying to guide us to find something?” Fei Li boldly speculated.
Their eyes fell in unison on the empty space in the corner. What could be there?
Luo Sang crouched down and touched the soil. “It feels like this ground has been disturbed.”
As he spoke, Luo Sang began to dig through the slightly loose soil with his hands.
Quickly removing the top layer of dirt, a flash of white caught their attention.
Fei Li knelt down to take a look and was momentarily stunned, feeling a pang of sadness for Luo Sang.
“These are…” He hesitated to continue.
Luo Sang cleared away all the dirt, revealing the stark contrast of the white bones against the soil.
Suddenly, the white bone emitted a faint glow and began to float in midair.
Luo Sang stood up, gazing at the floating bone. “Father!”
A strong light surged forth, and in an instant, the bones transformed into a hazy figure.
“Luo Sang, you’ve grown up.”
“Father, it’s really you! What happened that we’re wiped out?” Luo Sang’s voice trembled with excitement.
Luo Sang’s father smiled gently. “Child, don’t live your life consumed by hatred. Just being able to see you again brings me joy.” Noticing Fei Li, he glanced at him and added, “Is this your partner? You have good taste.”
Feeling scrutinized by Luo Sang’s father, Fei Li felt a bit uncomfortable.
Is this what it feels like to meet the parents?
Luo Sang’s father looked at the bones unearthed from the soil, his expression tinged with sadness. “In the end, Hu Zong still didn’t uncover the secret of the White Wolf Clan.”
Secret?
Fei Li caught the two keywords, and his gaze at Luo Sang’s father shifted.
The reason for the destruction of the White Wolf Clan must be related to this secret.
“What secret?” Luo Sang asked eagerly.
Luo Sang’s father began to speak softly. “Every thousand years, a spirit orc is born among the white wolves. This spirit orc is naturally full of spiritual power, and consuming its flesh and bones can rival tens of thousands of years of cultivation.”
Fei Li felt a chill run down his spine, this was practically an orc version of [1]“Tang Seng” is a monk from “Journey to the West” whose flesh is believed to grant immortality. Demons often try to capture him for this reason during his journey to retrieve … Continue readingTang Seng!
Seeing Luo Sang fall silent, he continued, “That’s right, I am that spirit orc.”
Luo Sang asked, “You are a spirit orc. Why couldn’t you protect your tribe?”
“Because I periodically enter a state of weakness. The day they invaded the tribe happened to be during my weak period, I could only fight desperately to keep you safe.” After a pause, he added, “Child, forget the past, and live well with those you love.”
“Father…”
“What I can leave you with is just a bit of the spirit orc’s power. Child, forget the hatred.”
As the words fell, the glowing white bone in midair floated above Luo Sang’s head and finally entered his body.
Luo Sang felt a rush of heat all over, and before he could process what was happening, the warmth disappeared, leaving him feeling utterly refreshed.
Seeing Luo Sang standing there in a daze, Fei Li stepped forward and grasped his hand tightly. “Don’t be sad.”
Luo Sang remained silent, instead focusing on the white bone still covered in dirt.
It seemed that Hu Zong had been searching for the spirit orc of the White Wolf Clan all along, not realizing that the spirit orc he sought had been right beside him all this time.
Luo Sang took out all the bones and left the fox tribe’s territory with them.
The two found a relatively quiet place to bury the bones deep in the ground.
In order to prevent the bones from being disturbed, Luo Sang set up a barrier.
Once everything was taken care of, Luo Sang and Fei Li began their journey back to the tribe…
