Chapter 116: The Tree with Warmth
“I did not betray them, they don’t want me to become strong. They fear my strength. A group of cowardly and incompetent orcs actually joined forces to persecute me, they deserve to die.”
The flute player spoke this with gritted teeth, the hatred in his eyes revealed his emotions.
In this place, orcs who commit heinous crimes would be expelled from the tribe.
Just like Qian Shi, the leader who repeatedly put his tribe in danger, ultimately ending up being banished from it.
The flute player coldly laughed as he looked at Luo Sang, “Take a look at your kin, they only want to kill you now. Are you willing to die at their hands?”
“I will not die at their hands, and I will never let you harm them.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Luo Sang gritted his teeth and stood firm, staring directly at the flute player.
“Then you can all die together!”
A fierce light flashed in the flute player’s eyes as he began to play the flute again.
This time, the sound of the flute became somewhat shrill.
The orcs attacking Luo Sang turned pale, painfully covering their ears and making distressed noises.
“What have you done to them?” Luo Sang furrowed his brow, clenching his fists in anger.
The flute player smirked and continued playing the flute.
Seeing his kin on the verge of collapse, he launched an attack on the flute player.
Just as he was about to reach the flute player, Mao Li suddenly charged in from nowhere, directly blocking the flute player’s path.
Luo Sang quickly halted, and Mao Li seized the opportunity to attack him.
Luo Sang couldn’t dodge in time, and he watched as Mao Li’s sharp claws were about to strike at his heart.
He resigned himself and closed his eyes, the bright smile of Fei Li appearing in his mind.
—Fei Li, I’m afraid I won’t make it back this time.
—I’m so reluctant.
—I’m sorry, I’ll make you sad again.
Before he could feel the expected pain, he slowly opened his eyes to see the flute player’s face magnified many times before him.
“This orc is quite interesting. It’s been a long time since I had such a fun orc here, I plan to keep you and have a good time together.”
Fei Li arrived at the big tree based on the scent Luo Sang left behind.
Here, the scent of the wolf tribe was very strong, indicating they seemed to have stayed here for a long time.
He turned to look at Wuze, “Let’s search around, something feels off here.”
Wuze nodded and immediately started searching the area with Fei Li.
After searching for about two tea breaks, Wuze suddenly said, “There’s a tree over here that looks a bit strange.”
Hearing this, Fei Li immediately rushed to Wuze’s side, staring at the large tree in front of them.
“The surrounding area is bare, and there’s just this one tree here, it’s too strange!” Wuze said with a puzzled tone.
Fei Li leaned forward and touched the tree, and as soon as his hand made contact with the trunk, he quickly pulled it back.
“What’s wrong?”
Fei Li shook his head, “This tree is unusual.”
He reached out again and touched the tree once more.
To his surprise, he discovered that the trunk was warm, as if it had a human-like body temperature.
Seeing his unusual expression, Wuze also reached out, but just as he was about to touch the trunk, Fei Li stopped him.
“Don’t touch it carelessly, this should be a spirit tree.”
As he carefully observed the tree, he suddenly noticed some of the bark seemed to have been cut open by someone.
He channeled his spiritual power and touched the large tree again, seeking to retrieve its memories.
After seeing the tree’s memories, his expression changed dramatically.
After releasing his grip, he took out a stone knife and cut off some bark, placing it in his bosom.
“What do you need the bark for?” Wuze glanced at the shriveled bark before finally looking back at him.
“It will be useful.”
The two continued onward, traveling for another day, and finally reached the forest.
Just as Wuze was about to step into the forest, Fei Li stopped him, saying, “Luo Sang and the others encountered a strong enemy in the forest. We don’t even know if we can make it out alive, have you thought this through?”
Wuze had just arrived at their tribe, and his bond with them wasn’t deep.
Taking this opportunity, he also wanted to see if Wuze was truly willing to share life and death with them.
Seeing that Wuze hadn’t spoken for a while, he spoke again, “You should go back! You don’t have to come with me to die.”
There were other members of Wuze’s tribe in the village, he would have his concerns, and Fei Li didn’t blame him.
Just as Fei Li was about to step into the forest alone, Wuze finally spoke up.
“Lord Luo Sang has already regarded us as kin, how could I abandon my kin at such a time? I will go in with you.”
Fei Li looked at Wuze with more appreciation but still wanted to test him further, “Don’t you care about Simi and the others? Are you really willing to die with us?”
Wuze smiled, lifting his eyes toward the distant sky.
At this moment, he actually thought of Aola.
The last time he asked Aola to date him, he hadn’t agreed.
“I have a request,” Wuze turned back to him.
“Speak.”
“If we return safely to the tribe, can you persuade Aola to be my partner?”
Fei Li replied, “Is that all?”
Wuze had a faint smile in his eyes and nodded apologetically.
“Okay, I promise you.”
The two walked deeper into the forest and soon arrived at the place where Luo Sang was fighting the flute player.
A familiar scent entered Fei Li’s nose, causing him to stop and look around.
Finally, he discovered dried blood on a leaf.
Wuze leaned over, exclaiming, “What is this?”
“Luo Sang’s blood.”
Wuze’s expression changed, “How do you know?”
With so many people with Luo Sang, how could he be sure this was Luo Sang’s blood?
“Because Luo Sang’s blood is also my blood.” This was probably why he could sense that something had happened to Luo Sang.
Wuze looked down at the leaves on the ground and pointed, “There are bloodstains on many leaves. It seems that Lord Luo Sang must have lost a lot of blood, is he okay?”
He spoke the last sentence softly, fearing that his words would make Fei Li worry.
Fei Li remained silent, gripping the leaf as he continued forward.
The sky gradually darkened, and the already small cave appeared very dark.
The wolf tribe orcs lay sprawled in the cave, seemingly asleep.
Luo Sang couldn’t move and could only sit on the ground anxiously.
He looked up at the flute player, asking, “What did you do to them? Why aren’t they moving?”
They wouldn’t be dead, would they? After all, their reactions just now were quite painful.
“What if I did something to them? What can you do now? Come over and kill me?” The flute player smiled, deliberately provoking Luo Sang.
“You…” Luo Sang glared at the flute player, unable to speak.
Given the situation before him, he truly couldn’t do anything to the flute player.
The flute player leaned in closer to Luo Sang, pinching his chin with his darkened sun-kissed fingers. “The hatred in your eyes is exactly like mine back then. Why won’t you kill them? If you kill them, no one can hurt you.”
Why should he suffer such unjust grievances?
Hatred!
I hate it so much!
What tribe, what kin.
These people should all die.
A murderous intent surfaced in his eyes as he pulled out his bamboo flute from his waist. “Let your blood fill my cave, and let me sleep with the blood!”
As soon as he finished speaking, he pretended to blow the bamboo flute.
At this moment, footsteps coming from the cave entrance halted his actions.
He fixed his sharp gaze on the cave entrance, “Who?”
—So there are still people coming to their doom, very well, today I’ll send you all on your way.
Leaving Luo Sang’s side, he turned to face the cave entrance, waiting for the person outside to come in.
Fei Li and Wuze walked straight in, and the deeper they went, the thicker the wolf tribe’s aura became.
He was certain that Luo Sang and the others should be right here.
He turned back to remind Wuze, “Be careful.”
Wuze nodded.
The two continued moving deeper.
“You’ve arrived.”
A strange and eerie voice echoed, causing both to stop in their tracks.
“Since you’re here, come in quickly! I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.”
Fei Li and Wuze exchanged a glance and cautiously moved further in.
Upon reaching the center of the cave, Fei Li immediately spotted Luo Sang, along with the tribe members lying on the ground.
“Lord Luo Sang,” Wuze called out.
Luo Sang turned to look at them, a hint of urgency on his face. “Hurry, leave us alone.”
Seeing this, the flute player smiled, “So it’s familiar faces, just in time for you to have some company, you won’t be lonely on your way to the underworld.”
Ignoring the flute player’s words, Fei Li rushed to Luo Sang’s side, his gaze landing on Luo Sang’s wounds.
“Are you okay?”
Luo Sang pushed him away with his hand, “I don’t want your help. You two hurry and leave, don’t stay here.”
Unable to hold back, Wuze spoke up, “Lord Luo Sang, stop saying that. We came here to take you all away.”
Luo Sang glanced at the flute player and couldn’t help but sigh.
They still didn’t know what the flute player was capable of.
How could he let Fei Li stay here any longer?
He grasped Fei Li’s hand, “Fei Li, listen to me, take Wuze and leave right away. Even if you save me, you can’t save everyone.”
“I came here with everyone, I must take them all away. If that’s not possible, then I’ll die here with them.”
He could no longer bear to watch his tribe members die, he couldn’t let the tragedy repeat itself.
The flute player’s eyelids lifted slightly, his gaze sweeping over everyone, “Such a touching bond. Don’t worry, I’ll let you all go together. You won’t be lonely.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the flute player launched his attack.
Wuze charged forward first, trying to withstand the flute player’s fierce assault.
Since encountering the flute player, he had been using the sound of the flute as a weapon, but now it was time to get serious.
Fei Li and Luo Sang had been watching the flute player, even Luo Sang had never seen such a fierce technique before.
After a few exchanges, Wuze gradually began to falter, and it looked like he could barely hold on.
Fei Li stood up, channeling his spiritual power to step in for Wuze.
Seeing Fei Li, the flute player smirked, “You’re actually a human? And a human with spiritual power? How interesting, the taste of your blood should be quite good.”
As he spoke, the flute player extended his tongue and licked his dry lips.
He looked just like a vampire from a television drama.
Throwing away the bamboo flute in his hand, he gathered a white sphere of spiritual power in his palm, still wearing that devilish smile. A familiar scent invaded Luo Sang’s nose, and he widened his eyes in shock as he looked at the flute player.
“You are…”
