Meng Yue Sheng’s house was decorated in a minimalist style—so simple that it felt almost cold. Other than the necessary furniture, there wasn’t any extra decoration.
Wei Jin, of course, wanted to stay in Meng Yue Sheng’s bedroom, but unfortunately, he led her straight to the guest room. The room wasn’t big, and the pillows and blanket were ones he had just pulled out.
The guest room didn’t have a bathroom, and Wei Jin hadn’t brought any clothes to change into.
So Wei Jin sat on the floor, staring at Meng Yue Sheng, who stood by the door, and they stared at each other for quite a while.
Why was she sitting on the floor? Because she thought she was too dirty and didn’t want to make the bed smell bad.
Meng Yue Sheng sighed as he lowered his head, “I don’t know if my clothes will fit you.”
“They’ll fit!” Wei Jin replied immediately.
After all, they were about the same size.
Meng Yue Sheng found a loose set of pajamas for her: a white top and gray pants, which still carried the fresh scent of laundry detergent.
“This is the only set I’ve never worn before. I bought extras. It should fit you,” he explained.
He led her to the bathroom and handed her a fresh towel, “You know how to use everything, right? The shampoo and body wash are all labeled.”
He turned on the heat lamp in the bathroom, “Let me know if you need anything.”
The bathroom was near Meng Yue Sheng’s bedroom. While Wei Jin went to wash up, Meng Yue Sheng sat at his desk to review some documents.
But he couldn’t focus. The sound of running water from the bathroom seemed to echo in his ears, louder than usual.
He held the document between his fingers, but his mind drifted elsewhere.
“Hey, Meng Yue Sheng? Meng Yue Sheng?”
Wei Jin’s voice came from the bathroom, muffled by the door, her voice slightly echoing.
Meng Yue Sheng snapped out of his thoughts and stood up, “What’s wrong?”
“Do you… have any underwear?” Wei Jin’s voice came through, this time accompanied by more noticeable steam, “Mine got wet, and I don’t want to wear it. It’s all dirty…”
“Hold on…”
“Okay.”
Meng Yue Sheng stood there frozen for a few seconds before stiffly opening a drawer and finding a new, unopened pair of underwear.
The bathroom’s heat lamp made Meng Yue Sheng’s eyes blur for a moment, and he blinked to clear them.
“This is new. I’m not sure if it will fit you…”
The door opened just a crack, and a hand slipped out, still damp with steam, “It’s fine, as long as there’s something to wear…”
Meng Yue Sheng handed the package over.
“Thanks…”
As the warmth and moisture stayed behind the closed door, Meng Yue Sheng exhaled shakily, placing a hand over his heart, “Phew—”
Wei Jin tugged at the underwear, trying to stretch it out. To be honest, it was a bit tight, but bearable.
Though, it was certainly noticeable.
Ugh…
Finally, she gave a few more determined tugs, her face contorted in frustration, and then gave up.
It loosened just a little.
Yeah, just a little bit.
After showering and changing into fresh clothes, Wei Jin felt clean and refreshed, her mood lifted considerably.
She crouched on the floor, collecting strands of hair that had fallen and wrapping them in a tissue. Then, she wiped down the damp spots on the floor.
There was only one towel, so after using it to dry her body, Wei Jin didn’t use it on her hair. Instead, she wrung her hair out with her hands and tied it up into a bun to keep it in place.
Water still dripped from her hair, though, and afraid of soaking her clothes, she draped the towel over her shoulders.
Before leaving the bathroom, she grabbed a squirt of toothpaste, rinsed her mouth, and called it brushing her teeth.
“Meng Yue Sheng, I’m done,” Wei Jin said, standing at his bedroom door, looking at his back.
“Alright, I’ll go shower now.” He stood up, “You should rest early.”
“Okay~”
As Meng Yue Sheng turned around, his gaze met Wei Jin’s, and then it quickly flicked down to her wet hair, “Your hair’s still dripping…”
“Oh, sorry! Let me grab you a towel and a blow dryer…”
Wei Jin tilted her head obediently, “Alright.”
Meng Yue Sheng placed a fresh towel over her damp head and held the blow dryer, guiding her back to the guest room.
Haha, so it’s the guest room in the end, huh? Haha…
“I’m going to shower now. Let me know if you need anything,” Meng Yue Sheng said quickly before almost sprinting away.
Wei Jin looked at herself in her phone’s front camera, “Weird… why did he run so fast? Do I look like I’m going to eat him? I don’t think so…”
She gently wiped her hair, pulling out a few more strands.
“Please, stop falling out… ugh…”
…
After sorting out his clothes, Meng Yue Sheng entered the bathroom, which was still filled with steam. The mirror was fogged up, and someone had drawn a heart on it. The water droplets had made the heart look like a sad face.
The warm steam clung to him, making him feel as though Wei Jin’s presence lingered. Afraid he might lose control, Meng Yue Sheng quickly finished his shower and left.
His whole body felt restless again.
He went to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of iced coffee.
The bitter liquid sliding down his throat calmed him a bit, but his body still felt light and tingly.
If nothing unexpected happened, his heat period was approaching.
It usually didn’t come this early, but it seemed that Wei Jin’s presence had triggered it to arrive sooner.
His lower back throbbed faintly.
Meng Yue Sheng gritted his teeth and pushed through the discomfort, tossing the empty bottle into the trash before heading back to his room.
…
Wei Jin lay in bed, unable to sleep. She tossed and turned but couldn’t drift off.
But she was also exhausted.
Sigh…
Her body was tired, but her mind was alert.
Ever since she had transformed into an alpha, she rarely engaged in any “self-relief,” feeling shy about it.
Usually, when her body stirred, she would wait a bit, and it would calm down on its own.
But not tonight.
She had waited for quite a while, yet the restless feeling wouldn’t go away. In fact, it was getting worse.
Wei Jin covered her face in frustration. Am I going to live like this forever?
Her other hand slipped past the waistband of her pants.
Ahhh…
Ughhh…
She could feel her body’s reaction, but it wasn’t working…
Sigh.
Curled up into a ball, Wei Jin tried speeding up her movements.
Still no success.
This was torture.
Her pheromones started leaking out uncontrollably.
She really wanted to hug Meng Yue Sheng right now… Meng Yue Sheng smelled so good… ugh… Meng Yue Sheng, Meng Yue Sheng, Meng Yue Sheng…
Wei Jin knew she couldn’t disturb Meng Yue Sheng, but she couldn’t help it. She felt so uncomfortable, so restless…
She couldn’t find relief, and her heart felt like it was on fire.
So, step by step, she dragged herself to Meng Yue Sheng’s door.
The door was closed.
Wei Jin resisted the urge to knock, curling up into a ball and resting her head against the door frame, pretending she was leaning on Meng Yue Sheng’s shoulder.
Feeling weak and helpless, she hugged herself.
Ugh… Meng Yue Sheng…
The cold floor did help ease her discomfort, but her body was still tense.
Wei Jin wished that Meng Yue Sheng would open the door and find her, but at the same time, she didn’t want him to. She already felt like such a burden just being in his home.
And now this…
In the quiet of the night, Wei Jin counted her heartbeats.
With every beat, she thought of Meng Yue Sheng.
The door never opened, and as sleepiness finally began to creep in, Wei Jin dragged herself back to her room step by step.
Before drifting off, she thought, When will I finally be able to sleep while hugging Meng Yue Sheng…?
Sleeping alone felt so lonely.
…
Wei Jin felt like she had barely gotten any sleep when her phone rang.
It was Qi Zhu asking when she would be coming to work and if he should pick her up.
Work? Wei Jin just wanted to sleep.
She glanced at the time.
It was already 10:30 a.m.
“Do I have any plans today?” Wei Jin asked weakly.
“There are a few documents that need your approval, but nothing else.”
“I’ll come to the office in the afternoon. Don’t bother me until then.” Wei Jin hung up the phone.
She adjusted her clothes, glanced down at her body, and lay down for a bit longer.
Alright.
Her body had calmed down.
So, yesterday was just an anomaly.
Wei Jin thought Meng Yue Sheng had already left for work, but when she walked into the living room, she saw him sitting on the couch, reviewing some documents.
On the table was a bag of steamed buns and a cup of soy milk.
It looked like he had been waiting for quite some time.
Wei Jin went to the bathroom to find that Meng Yue Sheng had already prepared her toothbrush and toothpaste.
After freshening up, Wei Jin sat on the couch.
Meng Yue Sheng set aside his documents, turned to her, and said, “You should eat while it’s still warm. It won’t taste as good once it cools down.”
“Okay~”
Wei Jin obediently started eating the buns.
They were already lukewarm.
It seemed like they’d been bought a while ago.
After finishing her meal, Wei Jin washed her hands, rinsed her mouth, and then returned to her original seat.
Slowly, she began to scoot closer to Meng Yue Sheng.
Meng Yue Sheng watched her small, gradual movements but didn’t say anything. He let her rest her head on his shoulder, her arm wrapping around his.
“What’s wrong?” Meng Yue Sheng adjusted his glasses, which had slipped down a bit.
“I want a hug…” Wei Jin said lazily, “I thought you had gone to work…”
“I still have some documents to review. It’s not urgent.”
“Oh…”
Wei Jin listened to the steady rhythm of Meng Yue Sheng’s heartbeat and breathing, feeling completely at peace.
When she was at peace, she couldn’t help but think of Meng Yue Sheng.
“Is it troublesome?” Wei Jin tilted her head, trying to peek at the document in his hands.
Meng Yue Sheng graciously lowered it a bit so she could see.
“Not really,” he said carefully, “It’s just hard to find the right business partners…”
“Tech innovation and clean energy?” Wei Jin looked at the document, thinking back to the various company heads she had been entertaining recently. There was one guy who had been seeking partnerships—who was it again?
She grabbed her phone and messaged Qi Zhu.
Wei Jin: [Who was that CEO I had tea with the other day, the one who talked about business?]
Qi Zhu responded quickly: [Are you referring to CEO Feng Guanshan?]
Qi Zhu: [He discussed renewable energy with you, but you declined because his company already had other partners.]
Wei Jin: [Is he still looking for partners?]
Qi Zhu: [According to some assistants in other groups, yes. His company is small, and he hasn’t found a suitable partner yet.]
Wei Jin vaguely remembered that Feng was a good-natured beta, but his production capacity couldn’t meet her company’s needs, so she had turned him down.
She pulled up the documents CEO Feng had given her and tapped Meng Yue Sheng’s arm.
“Take a look at this company. I had tea with CEO Feng, and he’s a pretty easy going guy.”
Meng Yue Sheng was about to decline but realized there was no need to put up pretenses in front of Wei Jin, so he took her phone to look.
The name felt familiar, and Meng Yue Sheng thought back.
He had approached several companies for partnerships, but most had turned him down, and the few that hadn’t were still in negotiations. This particular company hadn’t even been on his radar.
If he could secure a deal, everything would be much easier going forward.
Wei Jin noticed the look on his face and told Qi Zhu to send over CEO Feng’s contact information.
“How about I act as the middleman and help you set up a meeting? CEO Feng has been looking for a partner too…”
Meng Yue Sheng nodded, “Alright, thank you for that.”
Wei Jin didn’t want to hear any more formalities. She hugged his arm and pouted, “Then hug me, brother…”
Meng Yue Sheng chuckled and patted her back, “No hugs.”
