Chapter 191: She’s Gone Crazy
“I’m used to living a hard life, so I’m not greedy. It’s you I’m greedy for,” Captain Wang said bluntly.
Liu Feng didn’t mind his attitude. As long as she could eat meat, she was fine. She gently coaxed, “Yes, it’s me and the kids who are craving it. I’ll buy some meat tomorrow. If you don’t want it stewed, we can roast it.”
Even though she had secretly eaten some meat today, she was still craving it.
She never imagined that the Captain Wang family’s living standard could be so low.Captain Wang, controlled the money and was incredibly stingy.
But in Captain Wang’s eyes, Liu Feng was putting on an act.
He thought his expression was cold enough, but Liu Feng continued to talk.
“Look at our Huzi , how well-behaved he is. I feel sorry for him. He didn’t even make a fuss when he smelled the roasted meat from next door…”
She was craving it herself, and now she was using her child as an excuse. Captain Wang couldn’t take it anymore.
“Lin Xiangnan said the craving in your belly was stirred up by you. You were secretly eating good stuff behind our backs, don’t say those hypocritical things.”
“Can you believe what Lin Xiangnan says? She’s always at odds with our family. She’s trying to sow discord!” Liu Feng’s face remained calm, but her heart was a little flustered.
Was Lin Xiangnan a dog?
She hadn’t even been in the yard, she was frying meat in the kitchen, and Lin Xiangnan could still smell it.
Don’t blame her for making it fragrant. It was rare to eat meat, she couldn’t just boil it, that would be a waste of good stuff, and it wouldn’t satisfy her cravings.
“Don’t try to argue. I’ll go to the street and ask around, I’ll know if you bought meat or not. We’re not unknown figures.” Captain Wang, said coldly.
He was now very self-aware.
Recently, their family had been the center of attention. Captain Wang had stood on stage in front of leaders and colleagues, reflecting and making self-criticisms countless times.
Captain Wang wasn’t a fool, he wasn’t easy to fool.
Liu Feng opened her mouth, unable to find an excuse to explain, she could only say in a wronged tone, “You don’t give me money, you don’t give me tickets. What’s wrong with me using my own money to buy some meat?”
This life was worse than when she was a widow.
When she was a widow, although she didn’t have a man to protect her, she had a salary, and sometimes she could coax two foolish men to buy things for her.
“If I’m being honest, I lived better than Lin Xiangnan before. Who knew that you would treat me like this after we got married.”
“What did I do to you? Our family has always lived like this.” Captain Wang, retorted.
Now Liu Feng was truly wronged and cried. She finally understood. If there wasn’t something wrong with the Captain Wang family, why would Luo Caixia run away so quickly?
She wanted to find a man to marry, but if she married someone like Captain Wang, she might as well not marry at all.
Thinking about how she had pretended to be virtuous for so long, all for nothing, Liu Feng decided to stop pretending. She wiped away her tears and let out a loud wail.
The sound startled Captain Wang.
“What are you making a fuss about? Our reputation is already bad enough, and you’re still making a scene?”
His words choked back Liu Feng’s tears. Captain Wang was right, things were different now, she didn’t have the capital to make a fuss.
Having learned his lesson, Captain Wang had also improved. He sighed and compromised, “Forget it. I won’t hold your secret eating against you this time. We’ll just live like we used to.”
Neither of them could afford to make a scene now.
But after pretending for so long, suddenly exposing herself, Liu Feng was far from happy.
She didn’t dare argue with Captain Wang, she just held a grudge against Lin Xiangnan, who seemed easier to bully.
Lin Xiangnan came home from work and inexplicably received a glare from Liu Feng.
Just as Lin Xiangnan thought she was mistaken, she saw Liu Feng spit at her.
“What are you spitting for? What are you spitting at?” Lin Xiangnan was so angry she crossed her arms. She thought Liu Feng was being unreasonable.
Liu Feng sarcastically sneered, “Mind your own business. Phew! Phew! Phew!”
Seeing this, Lin Xiangnan’s anger subsided. She quietly stepped back, carefully avoiding Liu Feng.
When she got home, Lin Xiangnan told Hu Meili in shock, “Liu Feng from next door seems to have gone crazy. She’s spitting everywhere.”
“Really?” Hu Meili had the same shocked expression. “I haven’t even spoken to her. I’ll go ask the old ladies tomorrow.”
Since pretending to be virtuous didn’t earn her trust, and now her true colors were exposed, Liu Feng couldn’t expect to get any money from Captain Wang. Except for basic living expenses, Captain Wang wouldn’t give her a penny more.
Captain Wang was clearly guarding against her. He wanted to save the money for his son.
Completely seeing through him, Liu Feng gave up and only cared about herself, ignoring her husband and child.
Captain Wang Hu was already mischievous, and his clothes got dirty quickly. After Liu Feng stopped helping him clean up, Captain Wang Hu quickly became a messy, snot-nosed kid.
“She doesn’t even care about her child anymore. Liu Feng’s mental problems must be serious.”
“That’s right, the child used to be clean. Now his clothes are dirty and shiny.”
“If only she knew this would happen, why did she do it in the first place? If she hadn’t been that vixen, nobody would have been cursing her. Look, in the end, she couldn’t handle it and went crazy.”
“I wonder if Captain Wang, took her to the hospital?”
“This kind of illness can’t be cured.”
Rumors spread like wildfire.
But even though the whole compound was buzzing with gossip, it didn’t reach the person involved.
Liu Feng’s methods of getting ahead were despised, she couldn’t integrate into the compound, and nobody dared to befriend her, afraid of being gossiped about together.
As for Captain Wang, everyone was protecting his self-esteem and didn’t want to expose his family’s ugliness in front of him.
Everyone was very polite and didn’t talk about his family’s gossip to his face.
Luo Caixia knew about Liu Feng’s “madness,” but Captain Wang, still didn’t know.
Luo Caixia now worked at the kindergarten and often saw Lin Xiangnan.
“Lin Gong, is Liu Feng really crazy?” Luo Caixia curiously inquired. “I heard people picking up their children say that Liu Feng is mentally unstable.”
Luo Caixia’s eyes were almost smiling into crescent moons, her schadenfreude was obvious.
“It feels like she’s gone crazy. The other day I walked past her house, and she inexplicably spat at me, it was weird.” Lin Xiangnan said with suspicion. “I wonder if she can be cured.”
Luo Caixia looked disgusted. “Even if she’s cured, she’ll still drool, right?”
Even though she had briefly collaborated with Liu Feng, she was happy to see her misfortune. She schadenfreudically said, “Serves her right. This is karma. She shouldn’t have done bad things.”
“Karma?” Lin Xiangnan scoffed. It was no different from psychological comfort.
Luo Caixia whispered, “Just you wait. I’ve been cursing them in my heart. I’ll curse them for the rest of my life.”
Although superstitious practices were prohibited now, Luo Caixia believed in it.
Hearing this, Lin Xiangnan couldn’t help but laugh. “Captain Wang, kicked you, but he kicked you onto a bed of cotton.”
