Su Qingran exited the app and re-entered, only to find another comment from Pei Jingyan: “Which place makes these roasted chestnuts?”
This felt a bit odd. Su Qingran thought it was like a celestial being, detached from earthly desires, suddenly asking her where to find a good restaurant.
So, just how much does Pei Jingyan love roasted chestnuts that he would message her about it?
Su Qingran replied, “The one in Nanluoguxiang.”
After replying, she put down her phone, only to realize that the last chestnut had been eaten by her father.
That chubby guy!
She chuckled, then realized she had only mentioned the general location, and Pei Jingyan might not be able to find it.
Remembering that she had previously sent the exact location of that roasted chestnut stand to Jiang Chenlin, she dug through their chat history, found the conversation, and forwarded the location to Pei Jingyan.
“It’s this one. They start selling at 10 a.m. every day, and their business is good, so they usually sell out by around 6 or 7 p.m., so don’t go too late.”
Almost immediately after she sent the message, Pei Jingyan replied: “Okay, I’ll go tomorrow.”
Su Qingran sent a “mm-hmm” emoji, thinking, Mr. Pei really must have a craving for roasted chestnuts.
She imagined Pei Jingyan sitting in the sleek and modern CEO’s office, surrounded by cold and stern decor, he himself exuding a cool and aloof vibe, but there he was… peeling chestnuts.
Pfft—
Su Qingran couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Next to her, Su Qiantang asked, “Sis, what are you laughing at?”
“Domineering CEO,” Su Qingran blinked. “Adorably out of character.”
The next day, Jiang Chenlin and the Su family’s bodyguards accompanied Su Qingran to the airport.
“Ranran, make sure to message me when you have some free time,” Jiang Chenlin said, hugging her. “I’ll be waiting for you at home.”
Even after Su Qingran entered the security check area, Jiang Chenlin stood there, watching her.
When Su Qingran passed through security, she had a feeling and turned back, only to see that in the bustling hall, Jiang Chenlin was still standing there, quietly watching her just as he had been when they said goodbye.
She quickly waved to him, but her heart continued to race even after walking far away.
Her housekeeper was getting more and more attached to her. This time, she was going to Yutian, planning to pick out a stone for Jiang Chenlin as an engagement gift.
There were still more than six months until their wedding, which would be enough time for her to craft a piece she was satisfied with, and she planned to place it in their bridal room.
Lost in thought, she removed her coat after entering the security checkpoint and was just about to place it in the tray when she heard a few rolling sounds.
Oh, chestnuts.
She remembered her cousin stuffing something into her pocket the day before, but she hadn’t paid attention to it.
Turns out it was chestnuts.
Amid the surprised stares of the people around her, Su Qingran calmly picked up the chestnuts and quickly stuffed them back into her pocket.
Her ears turned slightly red.
The romantic thoughts she had been indulging in were mostly dispelled by this moment of public embarrassment.
So, when she sat down in the waiting area, she couldn’t help but complain to Jiang Chenlin: “Ah, I wasn’t even wearing a mask just now, and everyone was looking at me. So embarrassing!”
Jiang Chenlin sent her a comforting emoji and was about to say something when his phone rang.
Seeing the unfamiliar number with no contact name, his expression froze. He let the phone ring for over ten seconds before finally answering it.
On the other end was a female voice: “Has the arrangement changed?”
Jiang Chenlin’s hand gripped the phone so tightly that the veins bulged, but his face remained expressionless, and even his voice was steady: “No.”
“Alright, see you at 8 p.m. then,” the woman’s tone was light.
“Okay.” Jiang Chenlin hung up the phone immediately after speaking.
He opened his chat with Su Qingran again but couldn’t type anything for a long time.
Instead, it was Su Qingran who messaged first: “I’m about to board the plane. I’ll contact you when I land.”
Jiang Chenlin replied, “Okay.”
