Chapter 63: How About… We Go Together? (1/2)
“I am quite curious about the Demi-Humans you’re able to control,” Shen Cheng adjusted his posture, trying to gauge his opponent.
“Then take a guess!” Branno’s face immediately twisted into a ferocious expression. He stomped his foot and shot toward Shen Cheng like a cannonball, moving even faster than Nana!
Even so, thanks to the enhancements from the Cat and Dog Demi-Humans’ genetics, Shen Cheng barely managed to follow Branno’s movements.
Narrowly avoiding the slash of Branno’s dagger, Shen Cheng countered with a punch. The two figures clashed, exchanging punches, kicks, and flashes of blades. In the blink of an eye, they had already exchanged several rounds.
Branno, holding a dagger, seemed to have control over Demi-Humans on par with Nana—fierce beasts specialized in explosive speed. His combat experience far exceeded Shen Cheng’s, causing Shen Cheng to fall into a disadvantage from the start, relying on martial arts learned from his grandfather to barely hold on.
Shen Cheng’s clothes were slashed open in dozens of places, but thanks to his narrow evasions, there weren’t many real wounds.
The few cuts he did suffer were not severe, barely even qualifying as minor injuries, though the numbing pain pricked at his nerves.
“I really regret not learning more from the old man…” After another clash, Shen Cheng muttered with a bitter smile. But before he could finish his thought, Branno launched a surprise attack. With a sharp swing of his arm, a cold gleam shot forward!
“Whoosh—”
Shen Cheng quickly sidestepped, narrowly avoiding the flying dagger, which grazed his cheek before embedding itself into a nearby tree trunk, the hilt vibrating with a buzz.
Before Shen Cheng had a chance to catch his breath, he suddenly felt a tingling sensation on his scalp. His instincts kicked in, prompting him to leap aside just in time.
“Whoosh—”
Another cold gleam whizzed past the spot where Shen Cheng had just been standing. He took a deep breath. But as he steadied himself, a third dagger was already flying straight toward his right waist, with Branno closely following.
Seeing Branno rapidly closing in, Shen Cheng, who was at a disadvantage, suddenly sensed something off.
Slower.
Yes, slower! Although Branno was still moving at a speed unattainable by ordinary people, compared to his earlier pace, he had noticeably slowed down.
A short burst of power…
Shen Cheng quickly formulated a plan in his mind. Charging directly toward Branno, he didn’t retreat from the incoming dagger. Branno, seeing this, was slightly taken aback.
Is this guy suicidal?!
But in the next moment, a sudden change occurred.
As the dagger stabbed into Shen Cheng’s coat, it made a sharp “ding!” sound as if it had struck solid steel, bouncing away.
Branno’s pupils widened in shock.
Shen Cheng didn’t give Branno time to react. He rushed forward with a sudden step and landed a side kick squarely into Branno’s chest!
“Bang!”
“Ugh!” Branno’s chest took a second heavy hit. He felt as if a portion of his chest had been pressed inward.
Shen Cheng’s kick sent Branno’s back slamming against a tree. Before Branno could make another move, Shen Cheng was already closing in. He pulled a silvery object from the right inside pocket of his coat and pressed it against Branno’s forehead.
“Haha…” Feeling the cold, hard object against his forehead, Branno chuckled dryly and raised his hands. A streak of blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.
Looking at where Shen Cheng had drawn his gun, Branno smiled bitterly. “So it was that which blocked my dagger.”
