Chapter 139: Awakening (1/2)
After seeing the light green liquid, Wen Yuanyuan’s emotions became tense again. Her small hands clenched into fists, and her slender fingers turned pale from the pressure.
At this moment, Wen Yuanyuan felt something warm wrap around her right hand.
Slightly startled, Wen Yuanyuan turned her head and saw Shen Cheng holding her right hand, gently squeezing it, and giving her a reassuring smile.
The warmth in her heart eased the anxiety that had been gnawing at her, and Wen Yuanyuan smiled and nodded at Shen Cheng, indicating that she was fine.
“Little Fu, it’s your turn.” Seeing that none of the doctors spoke, Director Mu handed the agent to a young doctor who seemed to be relatively new.
Little Fu accepted the agent and turned to look at Wen Yuanyuan’s mother lying on the hospital bed. His arms trembled uncontrollably, and he couldn’t help but complain, “Director, this is the agent that can heal a coma patient. I… I don’t think I can handle it!”
The thought of this being the medicine that could cure a coma state made Little Fu’s whole body tremble uncontrollably.
“You know this is the agent that can heal a coma patient, right? I’m not asking you to poison someone, so why are you shaking!” Director Mu, eager to train Little Fu, knocked on Little Fu’s head in frustration. Fearing that Little Fu might drop the agent, he quickly snatched it back and turned to the other doctors. “Who among you will do it?”
“I’ll do it,” said an elderly doctor who appeared kind, his head bald and his face marked with the wrinkles of time.
“Alright, Old Xu, it’s all yours!” Director Mu solemnly handed the agent to Old Xu. Using his left hand, Old Xu took the agent and began carefully examining it. He muttered to himself, “So this is… the medicine that can heal coma patients? Truly miraculous… I wonder, how long will it be before humanity can cure cancer?”
With a slight sigh, Old Xu twisted open the agent. Seeing a thin membrane beneath the lid, he reached out his right hand, and another doctor immediately understood, handing him a syringe.
Old Xu inserted the syringe into the membrane, slowly extracting the medicine inside.
Once the medicine was depleted, the syringe held less than half of its capacity.
Gently pushing the syringe, a drop of light green liquid seeped out, sparkling faintly under the hospital room lights. Old Xu turned and approached the hospital bed, gazing at the visible veins on Wen Yuanyuan’s mother’s thin arm. He shook his head with a wry smile and said, “You’ve slept for so long, it’s time to wake up now. Your daughter is still waiting for you…”
After speaking, Old Xu soaked a cotton swab in alcohol to disinfect the area. He then positioned the needle and slowly inserted it into the vein, pushing the syringe steadily.
As the medicine gradually entered the patient’s body, all the doctors and Director Mu behind Old Xu held their breaths, craning their necks to watch.
At some point, Wen Yuanyuan had reversed the grip, clutching Shen Cheng’s hand tightly. Shen Cheng could feel her palm covered in cold sweat.
After fully administering the injection, Old Xu withdrew the needle and tossed it into a nearby trash bin. He began silently observing the patient, waiting for any signs of movement.
Everyone in the room did the same. It was as if the entire hospital room had been paused; the silence was so intense, you could hear a pin drop.
Old Xu began to notice his breathing growing heavier, and beads of sweat started to form on his forehead.
Ten seconds passed, then twenty seconds…
At this moment, everyone felt as if every second was excruciatingly long.
Suddenly, Old Xu seemed to notice a slight twitch in Wen Yuanyuan’s mother’s eyelid.
