Chapter 149: Big Brother, There’s No Need to Draw a Gun (2/2)
Although the sky had darkened, it was still early due to the season, and the port was lit up with neon lights, with crowds constantly moving back and forth.
Arriving at his parked car, Shen Cheng opened the door and let Ye Xi sit in the back. Just as Shen Cheng was about to open the driver’s door, he suddenly noticed something and looked up sharply.
Amidst the bustling crowd at the port, a shifty-eyed man could be seen stealthily reaching into another man’s pocket. In the next moment, he smoothly pulled out a wallet—his actions so fluid and practiced that it was clear he was a habitual thief.
The shifty-eyed man’s quick and subtle movements went completely unnoticed by the crowd, packed shoulder to shoulder.
After successfully grabbing the wallet, the shifty-eyed man slipped out of the crowd and scurried towards a secluded alley, his sneaky grin unmistakable. Shen Cheng’s lips curved into a faint smile as he quietly followed.
“Sigh…” Ye Xi, sitting inside the car, watched Shen Cheng’s figure disappear into the distance. Then, glancing at the car door beside her, which hadn’t even been locked, she sighed and said, “You’re really not afraid of me escaping, or… do you trust me too much?”
In the secluded alley, the shifty-eyed man, wearing a lecherous grin, approached a burly man and handed over the freshly stolen wallet. “Boss, look, I snagged another one!”
The burly man took the wallet, opened it to inspect its contents, and then knocked the shifty-eyed man on the head. “How are you going to survive with this? You only stole this little bit?!”
The shifty-eyed man chuckled awkwardly, “Well, the wind was strong today, boss. How about we call it a day? These two wallets are enough for us to have a decent meal.”
“No way!” The burly man frowned and shook his head. Pointing towards the outside of the alley, he commanded, “You’re going to steal another one today!”
“O-okay…” The shifty-eyed man didn’t dare argue. He turned and walked out of the alley.
As he reached the mouth of the alley, a shadow suddenly appeared in front of him. Without having time to react, he bumped into it and stumbled back a few steps. When he looked up, he saw a man standing at the alley’s entrance with a gentle smile on his face.
Seeing that the man looked polite and harmless, the shifty-eyed man’s face turned fierce. “Hey kid, you heard everything, right? I advise you to keep your mouth shut, or else…”
“Why are people like you everywhere?” Shen Cheng sighed softly, then, without hesitation, shoved the man aside and walked straight toward the burly man, saying flatly, “The wallet—hand it over.”
The shifty-eyed man tried to push back, but it felt like he was shoving a solid wall. He was knocked to the ground and, dazed, could only watch as Shen Cheng walked toward the burly man.
“Wallet?” The burly man raised an eyebrow and then burst into laughter. “You’re asking me for a wallet? Let me tell you, once the wallet’s in my hands, it’s mine! And you, punk, talking to me like that—do you even know who I am? I am… Big brother! I was wrong!”
As a black gun barrel was pressed against his forehead, the burly man’s smile froze. He quickly raised his hands in surrender, wearing a pitiful expression. “Big brother, please lower the gun. I was just messing with you! Don’t judge me by how I look—I’m nobody, really! There’s no need to pull out a gun just to deal with me…”
Shen Cheng, still wearing the same calm smile, looked at the burly man, not lowering the gun in his hand. “Hand over the wallet first.”
“Here, here it is!” The burly man hurriedly pulled out two wallets from his pocket and handed them over to Shen Cheng.
“Only these two?” Shen Cheng asked, somewhat puzzled.
“Only… only these two!” The burly man stammered, feeling his words fail him.
Seeing that the burly man wasn’t lying, Shen Cheng shook his head and said, “You two are really useless…”
The burly man: “…”
