Chapter 1
This was the first time Ji Qingyu had ever flown on a private jet. She lay on the soft bed but had no interest in posing for photos to post on Weibo or her friend circle. Closing her eyes, she prayed sincerely, trying to calm herself, convincing herself it was just a dream. She instinctively reached under the pillow and pulled out a small object, sitting up in disbelief.
Even if she hadn’t eaten pork, she had seen pigs run, especially since she had a roommate who had been running an adult toy store since their freshman year. This was one of those prelude gadgets that appeared in every bedtime story suitable for late-night reading.
To be fair, this little thing was getting more and more refined. If it hadn’t been used on her, she would have been happy to study it carefully.
“…Ugh.” She lay back in despair.
The anger she had just calmed down surged back, and she could only vent by punching the pillow. Two hours earlier, she had woken up groggily to find herself on a plane with a phone, sunglasses, and two glasses of champagne on the table. Before she could take in her surroundings, she unexpectedly met a pair of equally shocked eyes.
She almost screamed!
Because the man sitting opposite her was Feng Chengze.
Who was Feng Chengze? He was the cold-faced older brother of her boyfriend, Feng Yu.
Her mind quickly cleared, and she suddenly remembered that today was the important day when Feng Yu was taking her to meet his parents. Her friends said a web novelist could turn their meeting, acquaintance, and romance into a Mary Sue novel. In her senior year, she had been introduced to an internship in the HR department of Yisheng Group, where she met Feng Yu, who was jokingly called “Little Feng” by others. Unlike his competent older brother, he rarely appeared in public, so few people in the group knew him. Nowadays, it might be possible for a poor person to pretend to be rich, but it’s much harder for a rich person to pretend to be poor.
Not to mention Feng Yu’s aura, his clothes, and his watch—even if low-key, anyone with a bit of knowledge about luxury goods could tell at a glance that he was a rich kid.
Ji Qingyu swore to the heavens that she initially had no interest in Feng Yu, especially since she was quite involved with a senior at the time. She wasn’t a time management master; as an intern, she was like a brick, moved wherever needed, busy every day. Just looking at the skyscraper of Yisheng Group made her physically nauseous. During that time, she even stopped reading domineering CEO and cute secretary novels. How could she have the leisure to play office romance?
Unexpectedly, Feng Yu kept coming around her every few days. In just a week, even the cleaning lady knew Feng Yu was pursuing her.
Over time (just a month), her heart quietly shifted from the senior to Feng Yu. Come on, a handsome guy over six feet tall with a good fashion sense, caring for her, transferring large sums of money, driving her in hot weather, riding a motorcycle in cool weather, sending a bouquet of Freud today, and a bunch of Juliet tomorrow. Falling for him was as natural as breathing.
Thus, Ji Qingyu and Feng Yu began their shamelessly sweet romance. On the day of her graduation photo shoot, Feng Yu gave her a diamond ring as a gift and proposed to introduce her to his parents and older brother formally. They would hold their engagement ceremony the following spring if everything went well.
She shyly nodded. However, she still felt a bit uneasy. After confirming their relationship, Feng Yu honestly disclosed his family background. Knowing that his father was the chairman of the group and his older brother was the current executive director made her legs weak.
She had never dared to dream so big. Suddenly, she was just one step away from marrying into a wealthy family and felt a bit lost.
Feng Yu knew she was nervous, so he arranged a rehearsal activity in advance—first meeting his stern, silent, and imposing older brother.
After meeting him once, Ji Qingyu’s heart turned cold. Feng Chengze didn’t even look at her properly. She thought that if she could hear his thoughts, they would definitely be something like:
Ji Qingyu: “…”
After this, the prospect of meeting the parents was as terrifying as venturing into the underworld alone. She lost four pounds!
Finally, she gritted her teeth and decided to face it, no matter what. Everything was fine as she sat in the car heading to the Feng family home, but suddenly, a car swerved towards them. The driver couldn’t avoid it and slammed on the brakes. Due to inertia, her head hit the back of the front seat, and everything went black. When she opened her eyes again, she was on this private jet.
“…Big brother.” She called out, and the other party’s eyes were full of scrutiny.
She immediately corrected herself, “Mr. Feng…”
At that moment, a man in a suit walked over and stood beside them, respectfully saying, “Mr. Feng, Madam, we are expected to land in Jing City at 3 PM tomorrow. Butler Yang called to ask if you want to pick up Miss from kindergarten.”
“What?” Feng Chengze’s jaw tightened as he glanced at his new assistant.
Ji Qingyu also blinks. Was there a difference between a private jet and a commercial plane? Otherwise, why would she hallucinate, like hearing this man call her “Madam”?
Was he referring to her?
Assistant Zhang was slightly stunned: “Butler Yang said Miss has been in a bad mood and fussing for two days.”
Although this trip was for business, children don’t understand such reasoning. Seeing their father take their mother away, she had been crying at home for a long time. Don’t be fooled by the fact that the eldest daughter of the Feng family was only in kindergarten; she was very clever. Every day, she would proudly inspect her parents’ wardrobe, and she knew if any clothes were missing. Especially the bathroom sink and her mother’s dressing table; she knew exactly how many bottles and jars there were.
Before she turned three, she could be fooled, but after a year in kindergarten, she knew everything!
Daddy and Mommy were going out to play!
Daddy said it was a business trip, so why take Mommy?
Daddy said, “Mommy is my secretary.”
This could only fool a three-year-old; the four-year-old no longer believed it. Because every time Daddy said this, Mommy would twist Daddy’s arm. As long as Mommy did this, it meant Daddy was lying.
…
Miss?
He didn’t have a younger sister in kindergarten, nor any cousins.
When Feng Chengze woke up on the plane, he sensed something was wrong. He was clearly in his office handling an overseas email when his parents called, urging him to come home quickly because today was the day his brother brought his girlfriend home for the first time. No matter what kind of girl she was, they had to show respect; otherwise, it would be inappropriate to embarrass a newly graduated girl in front of the whole family.
Every day, when Feng Chengze wakes up, he has to deal with many business matters. He doesn’t want to waste his precious time on a meaningless meeting. He understands his younger brother well; from childhood to adulthood, his brother has always had a short attention span. Whatever he wants at the moment, he must get it, but soon after obtaining it, he gets bored. Feng Chengze doesn’t believe that his brother and that girl named Ji will have a long-term future. He will only meet his brother’s fiancée or wife. Thinking this, he still responded, “Okay,” on the phone.
How could he be in the office one second and in mid-air the next?
Ji Qingyu, sitting opposite him, was obviously full of questions. Just as she was about to express her astonishment, he stopped her and said, “Okay. You go arrange it.”
Assistant Zhang: “Understood.”
After Assistant Zhang temporarily left, Ji Qingyu couldn’t stand the strange atmosphere any longer. She leaned forward and asked in a low voice, “Mr. Feng, what’s going on now?”
“Check the phone,” he replied concisely.
Ji Qingyu looked uneasy: “This isn’t my phone.”
Her phone case, which she had just changed, had a reassuring line of text: It doesn’t matter. The Bodhisattva will protect me if necessary.
The phone on the table was bare, without a case. It was so extravagant that it was obvious it wasn’t her phone.
Wait…
Is this the latest model? She hadn’t seen it before.
“I guess it’s yours,” Feng Chengze said without any extra expression.
He and Feng Yu were indeed brothers, with similar facial features, but one was handsome and casual, the other cold and stern. The overwhelming sense of oppression made her shiver. The situation was so strange that goosebumps appeared on her pale arms. She wasn’t slow; she realized how horrifying this scene was.
“It’s really not my phone…”
Ji Qingyu was actually quite scared. She feared it was some kind of death-triggering device.
Where were they now? Mid-air on a plane.
Who was with her? Feng Chengze.
Even if she wanted to escape, she couldn’t jump off the plane—
Feng Chengze raised his eyes, looked at her coldly, reached out, picked up the phone, and asked, “What’s your usual password?”
Ji Qingyu instinctively blurted out, “Six eights.”
“…” He lowered his eyes, his long fingers tapping on the screen.
It was so quiet that Ji Qingyu could hear the tapping sound.
The phone unlocked.
Feng Chengze was stunned. He suddenly noticed that the phone’s wallpaper was a photo of a man casually holding a woman, with a cute little girl nestled in the woman’s arms. Anyone would see this as a happy family of three.
However, the man in the photo was him, and the woman was his brother’s girlfriend.
“What’s wrong??” Ji Qingyu saw him staring at the phone as if frozen, not moving.
If she weren’t afraid of him, she would have waved her hand in front of his eyes.
Feng Chengze barely suppressed the turmoil in his heart. He closed his eyes and reopened them, but it was still the same photo. His Adam’s apple bobbed, his fingers trembled slightly, and he opened the phone’s calendar, which showed the date.
So, if this wasn’t a dream, he and Ji Qingyu had traveled five years into the future. He took a deep breath, even wondering who had the audacity to play such a joke on him. But he knew in his heart this wasn’t a joke, and it probably wasn’t a dream either, but reality. He couldn’t ignore Ji Qingyu’s anxious gaze. He slowly moved the phone to her hand and said in a low voice, “See for yourself.”
