Chapter 512: The Heavenly Book is a Girl
Fairy Fengya still appeared indifferent. She engaged in no further conversation with Ye Wenxin, confusing her.
Once Fairy Fengya took her seat, several female students quickly filled the surrounding seats. They seemed very interested in Fairy Fengya, which surprised Ye Wenxin.
However, considering normal children were not as complex as adults, Ye Wenxin relaxed. She watched as a few students pulled Fairy Fengya into their excited gossiping. Even though Fairy Fengya said nothing, they kept the conversation going without any awkwardness.
They soon noticed Ye Wenxin, who had yet to change into the student uniform. After a brief self-introduction, everyone became enthusiastic.
“It’s been so long since we’ve had a new student.”
“Yeah. We’ve all been here for many years. This is our first time seeing two new students join.”
The other students’ voices were full of youthful innocence. Ye Wenxin recalled the conversation she had heard from the matron and others. She questioned if this lively and animated group of students was an illusion. Or if the kitsune was using underhanded means to tarnish Cosmos Academy’s reputation for some ulterior motive.
More doubts arose in Ye Wenxin’s heart. Unable to address them, she continued chatting with the students about random topics.
The outside world fascinated these students, and they listened with rapt attention. Ye Wenxin smoothly blended in with them.
Fairy Fengya still appeared quiet. Perhaps this group of children was kind. Her taciturn demeanor didn’t seem to offend them. She attended class with them, while Ye Wenxin, being new, would officially start her lessons tomorrow.
In the afternoon, she resumed wandering around, memorizing Cosmos Academy’s layout. Of course, she excluded the library. Ye Wenxin tilted her head and saw the library in the distance, seeming out of place with the rest of the academy’s structure. Currently, it was enveloped in black mist.
It was the kind of mist only cultivators could see. Mundane people couldn’t perceive its true nature. The kitsune had likely confined the Heavenly Book’s power within, thus taking away Cosmos Academy’s protection. But if that protection was lost, why were the surrounding students unaffected?
Ye Wenxin pondered the changes occurring here and then looked at the sculpture of the girl holding a book. It seemed remarkably lifelike, and Ye Wenxin found the girl familiar. She couldn’t recall where she had seen her before, but the familiarity was undeniable.
She continued exploring the area, noting the most direct route for her nighttime exploration and finalizing her plan for the first night. The academy’s security wouldn’t be too strict from the start, and Fairy Fengya was here. It made her less worried about encountering danger.
So Ye Wenxin headed back to her room, but as she was about to enter, she saw the door next to hers open. Looking over, she noticed a girl of around fifteen coming out of the room. She wore a simple yet elegant apricot yellow outfit, and seemed to have noticed Ye Wenxin too.
As their eyes met, Ye Wenxin felt pain in her back again. The peach blossom demon on her back seemed to react strongly to the girl. She couldn’t help but gasp in pain, drawing a surprised look from the girl.
Ye Wenxin didn’t know her identity, but the girl before her was the Heavenly Book, who had lived for thousands of years. With just one glance, she could see the past and the future. Even a stranger from another world like Ye Wenxin could never escape her gaze.
Her name, Wen Susu, was given to her by the first dean of Cosmos Academy, and she used it ever since. Now, she saw Demon Lord here in child form, and Ye Wenxin’s past. It left Wen Susu standing there motionless, astonished and fearful.
Ye Wenxin, however, was unaware that Wen Susu could see through everything about her. She did recognize Wen Susu as the girl she had met once before. But at that time, Ye Wenxin had been Ye Shengxiao. She couldn’t give a heads-up to Wen Susu in her current form.
Moreover, the pain in her back reminded her of the girl’s importance, which Ye Wenxin found perplexing.
If this was a condition for upgrading her special ability, then this bookworm girl seemed far too ordinary. Still, Ye Wenxin decided to greet Wen Susu. As she was about to do so, she suddenly stumbled and fell flat on the floor. Although she used qi to protect herself, outwardly, it looked like a painful fall.
Wen Susu silently glanced at Ye Wenxin. A few beats later, she hugged her book and left with haste. Ye Wenxin felt frustrated. She hadn’t used the peach blossom chains, but her luck should naturally attract women’s favor.
She was able to control the girl last time. Why was her reaction so different today? No, that couldn’t be right. If she was a Cosmos Academy student, what abilities did she possess that allowed her to act like an ordinary person outside?
More and more questions popped into Ye Wenxin’s mind. If possible, she was determined to personally see the legendary Heavenly Book and ask it all the questions swirling in her head. Otherwise, she felt she might suffocate in this perpetually cryptic world.
Amidst her frustration, Ye Wenxin suddenly saw Wen Susu return. Still holding her book, she hurried back into her room. It seemed she had forgotten something. Ye Wenxin remained sitting on the floor, putting on a pitiful expression.
Finally, Wen Susu showed a hint of compassion. Softly, she said, “Heavenly Palace acupoint, Four Symbols acupoint.”
Ye Wenxin looked puzzled, quickly realizing that these two acupoints seemed capable of controlling qi flow. She lightly pressed on the indicated points. Immediately, the pain in her back vanished. It was as if stimulating these acupoints halted the peach blossom demon’s agitation.
Not only that, but Ye Wenxin also heard a faint ‘ah’ sound. There was the peach blossom girl she had encountered before. She had dark brown hair, a stunningly beautiful face, and cheeks like peach blossoms. The girl looked at her with a panicked expression before quickly retreating into her back.
Ye Wenxin silently cursed the peach blossom demon for her reckless behavior. She had truly made Ye Wenxin’s back her home. She pressed the two acupoints again, yet the peach blossom demon showed no sign of coming out. However, it did make a faint noise that was rather intriguing.
After a few more attempts, Ye Wenxin eventually gave up. She shifted her attention to Wen Susu’s departing figure, mind filled with even more questions.
