Chapter 514: Easily Stolen Disciples
It was yet another typical, contrived story.
The peach blossom tree gradually transformed into a demon. It became powerful and diligently learned human language, all for the chance to reunite with the Peach Blossom Fairy.
Eventually, this peach blossom demon met the rabbit spirit. The two became close friends, and lived peacefully together for several hundred years.
Until one day, the peach blossom demon discovered that the rabbit spirit had gone missing. After searching for a while, she found the rabbit spirit’s corpse. The peach blossom demon trembled with fury, vowing to tear the culprit into pieces.
She created the Soul-Snaring Illusion, hoping to kill Ye Wenxin with it. However, she didn’t expect to be drawn to the peach blossoms on Ye Wenxin’s back instead.
Ye Wenxin was speechless. She always thought the peach blossom demon was the one causing trouble. Now it was clear that the peach blossom tattoo had advocated it. Unable to contain herself, she muttered, “So, it’s not that you came to trouble me. But the peach blossom tattoo on my back pulled you in?”
As if she could no longer bear the grievance, the peach blossom demon reappeared and nodded at Ye Wenxin. She couldn’t speak and was afraid of Ye Wenxin harming her, so their communication always fell short. Ye Wenxin found the truth incredulous. She couldn’t understand why the answers she sought were being revealed to her so effortlessly.
It was as though someone had read her thoughts, and then deliberately showed her the answers.
“Who’s there!?” Ye Wenxin suddenly raised her voice. She vigilantly observed her surroundings but still detected no presence. Yet, she couldn’t shout too loudly lest she attract unnecessary attention. Failing to find anyone, she exited the book. The other two books had vanished.
The surrounding mist remained as thick as ever. Ye Wenxin dispersed it again, and the three books reappeared. Faced with the same choice, she instinctively opened one of the books. As she was about to step in, she noticed it was a magma portal. The blistering heat, incredibly realistic, made Ye Wenxin suddenly realize that something was trying to deceive her.
Next, she opened the other two books. She saw the Dead Sea and a horde of demonic beasts. The initial safe choice was just a trap to lure her in. Still, Ye Wenxin was not willing to give up. She decided to search for the books a third time, curious to see how many tricks they could conjure.
However, who would have thought that the books contained fantastic oddities in every description, punishments included. So, Ye Wenxin came up with a plan. She instructed the furballs to search for the exit in different directions.
Portal after portal, they searched. There were around three hundred in total. Yet they still could not find a way out. Eventually, dawn broke. At the crowing of roosters, Ye Wenxin had no choice but to retrace her steps and start her first day as a student…
Meanwhile, in a place unknown to Ye Wenxin, Wen Susu finally sighed with relief. She looked at the memories written all over her arm. With a gentle flick, she scattered them. A book floated in the air and began to write itself. Before long, the book was packed with text, which became a thick biography.
Wen Susu marked today’s date before writing the words [To Be Continued] in bold characters. She relaxed, preparing to put the book away. Then, noticing the empty title page, she conjured a silver pen to inscribe the name.
[Quest for the Flower]
With that done, Wen Susu stretched out her hand. The book vanished before her. Opening the door, she stepped out to greet the rising sun…
Meanwhile, Ye Wenxin was already sitting in the lecture hall. She felt awkward and out of place, especially among this group of children. It made for a bizarre experience.
Her attempts to mingle with the kids only emphasized the generation gap. She couldn’t understand their slang, and they didn’t find her jokes funny.
Fortunately, the teacher soon arrived, breaking the awkward tension. The lecturer for this class happened to be Wu Yong. He saw Ye Wenxin and invited her to introduce herself to the group. It had been so long since she’d done something as embarrassing as a self-introduction in class. It felt like she had returned to her school days.
She started to worry about her future here, while also pondering the solution to the array she had encountered last night.
She initially thought life at the academy would be incredibly dull. Unexpectedly, she had found a pleasant surprise. While Ye Wenxin was still contemplating her plans for the night, she was drawn to Wu Yong’s lecture. Although he looked like a bad guy, his teachings were surprisingly interesting.
He was telling the story of a figure revered long ago, Immortal Lord Taohua (peach blossom). This immortal lord originally had a beautiful name. However, due to the abundance of admirers who flocked to her doorstep, she became known as Immortal Lord Taohua.
By the time she ascended, she already had seventy-two consorts. They each had a flower-themed title and were as beautiful as fairies. It was a tale that shocked the entire realm, both then and now.
Ye Wenxin thought this Immortal Lord Taohua must have been quite a character, but something felt off. This was supposed to be a place for mundane learning. Why was Wu Yong sharing stories inappropriate for children?
She glanced around to see the others’ reactions. Everyone looked eager to learn how Immortal Lord Taohua had won such admiration.
“This class is about social etiquette.”
After the long-winded introduction, Wu Yong finally revealed that this was just an ordinary etiquette lesson.
The students at the academy were all from wealthy and influential backgrounds. In the future, each of them might become a prominent figure in their respective dynasties. It was for this reason that the content was so mature.
Despite thinking this, Ye Wenxin had a growing sense of unease. Wu Yong seemed to enjoy using gossip about cultivators to teach the class.
While lost in thought, Ye Wenxin suddenly heard Wu Yong mention her name.
“Let’s talk about Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng. Does anyone know what her greatest success is?”
“Her beauty!”
“Her martial prowess!”
“Her easily stolen disciples!”
Ye Wenxin had a thought. If she weren’t sitting in a classroom full of ordinary people, she would let these little brats experience the true terror of the Demon Lord’s descent.
Yet, she could only maintain a plastic smile while watching them use the Demon Lord as a negative example of what it meant to be a scoundrel.
Fairy Fengya, who was sitting nearby, remained indifferent. Nothing in this realm seemed to concern her. Even when her own name came up in the lecture, she acted like it had nothing to do with her.
Ye Wenxin clenched her fists, finding this class torturous and painful.
TL: As a reminder, last time at Southern Dipper Temple, the gatekeeper monk told Abbess Jiunan about a peach blossom immortal who had a harem of 72 consorts.
Last chapter, we had the peach blossom demon’s flashback where she was saved by the Peach Blossom Fairy, confirmed to be female.
This chapter, Wu Yong talks about the Immortal Lord Taohua with the same 72 consorts. I can safely say that this is all the same person, and yeah, it’s a woman.
Also, since the monk said the peach blossom immortal ascended with all her wives, it confirms Wenxin could take her harem with her when she ascends.
