1980s: The Scheming Officer Fell for Me After Reading My Mind Chapter 101

Chapter 101: Zhou Jinchuan Suddenly Arrived

Qin’s mother saw her daughter-in-law glaring at her with such anger and frustration.

Although she knew her daughter-in-law was just anxious, she still felt quite unhappy inside.

However, after chatting for a while, she forcefully steered the conversation back. “What you said is true, the army is good, but you’re not young anymore. It’s not a solution to keep drifting around. It’s better to find a good family in your hometown and settle down.”

Su Yi understood and smiled faintly, “Auntie makes a good point, but there are plenty of good men in the army too!”

Qin’s mother was taken aback for a moment, then she dryly laughed, “There are many choices in the army, but it’s still a long-distance marriage. It’s better to find someone local who you know well.”

After saying this, without waiting for Su Yi to respond, she called out to the yard.

“My relative from my mother’s side is here for the wedding today, and he just told me that he’s been impressed by you since he visited our village a few years ago.”

As Qin’s mother spoke, her cousin had arrived.

Qin’s mother quickly invited him to sit down beside her and hurriedly introduced Su Yi to him.

Su Yi glanced at the man and immediately understood.

After circling around for a while, they returned to the original storyline in the book.

In the original book, the Qin family was also plotting to deceive Su Yi into marrying this forty-something old man.

However, she was not the original owner of the body and not easy to bully.

Su Yi took one look and coldly remarked, “Auntie has been beating around the bush for so long, I thought something serious was happening. Turns out you want to introduce me to an object!”

“But why isn’t the person you’re introducing here? Only his father showed up?”

Upon hearing this, Qin’s mother’s expression turned cold as well, awkwardly smiling, “What father and son, it’s just the one I was introducing.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the onlookers in the crowd began to stir with excitement.

Everyone was puzzled by Qin’s mother’s behavior towards Su Yi earlier.

It turned out she was plotting something sinister!

“Su Yi is only in her twenties,  and she wants to marry her off to a forty-year-old man? How could she even think of that!”

“That’s so outrageous! How could anyone bully someone like that?”

Qin Yunfeng had been greeting the male guests at the front, but when he heard everyone discussing the matter, he quickly rushed over.

“Mother, what are you doing? My cousin is so old, his child is almost as old as Su Yi. How can you match him with her?”

Qin’s mother was already upset by everyone’s comments.

Seeing her son come over to question her, she glared at him and said, “You don’t understand anything. Older men know how to cherish their wives, and your cousin is rich. Su Yi will live a life of luxury if she marries him!”

The Su family was originally sitting at the table near the outside.

At this moment, they heard Qin’s mother  introducing a potential match for Su Yi, and even brought the man over.

They were immediately furious and took Sun Dayou to confront her.

“You wicked widow Qin! I knew you were up to something when you so kindly invited our whole family to this feast. You were just scheming!”

“I’m telling you, my daughter’s marriage is not for you to decide. Moreover, her father and I have already found a suitable match for her, and I’ve brought him here. He’s far better than the one you found.”

Qin’s mother glanced at the oily, powdered man and sneered, “I spit on you! Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. Your family is too poor to marry off your second son, so you’re planning to sacrifice your daughter in exchange for a wife. You’re not afraid of being gossiped about?”

After that, Qin’s mother pulled Su Yi’s arm and started to earnestly persuade her.

Seeing this, Zhang Guilan also stepped forward and grabbed Su Yi’s other arm.

The two women were determined to make Su Yi choose one of them to marry right then and there, as if they wanted them to bow and exchange vows immediately.

Su Yi, exasperated by their constant bickering, forcefully pulled away from both of them.

She then flipped the table over, sending the freshly served dishes and scalding hot soup flying onto the Qin family and the Su family who were trying to persuade her.

“Choose your mother!” she roared.

“Qin Shi, you’re always complaining about how hard it is being a widow, right? Why would you be willing to give such a good man to me? You two are clearly perfect for each other, why don’t you just get married today! It’ll be double the joy, double the happiness! And you can save on the wedding banquet!”

“And you guys, exchange your foot! You’re always worried about not having enough money to marry off your second son, right? Well, this good-for-nothing is also worried about not being able to find a wife. Why don’t you just let them be bachelors together? It’ll save them from bothering other young girls!”

Before the others could react, Su Yi picked up a wine bottle from the ground, smashed the bottom of the bottle, and pointed it at them.

“I’m telling you, don’t drive me crazy. I don’t want to hear a single word I don’t like right now. Be careful, I might really do something drastic if provoked!”

Qin’s mother, Zhang Guilan, and the others were publicly berated.

Initially slow to react, when they finally realized they wanted to lunge forward and tear Su Yi apart, they hesitated, fearing she might actually go mad and kill someone.

They started shouting that Su Yi was going to kill someone.

After just a couple of screams, for some reason, everything suddenly quieted down.

Su Yi noticed everyone staring blankly behind her, so she curiously turned her head to look.

Then she was stunned.

She never expected Zhou Jinchuan to appear suddenly behind her as if he had descended from the heavens.

The moment she saw him, something within Su Yi seemed to blossom open.

The anger and anxiety that had been gnawing at her heart instantly dissipated, leaving a sense of inexplicable comfort in its wake.

But then, her gaze fell upon the bottle of wine she was still clutching, and she remembered the harsh words she had just uttered.

A wave of awkwardness washed over her, making her want to dig her toes into the ground.

“Commander…Commander  Zhou, when did you get here?”

Zhou Jinchuan’s deep eyes were filled with concern. “Since you flipped the table.”

He had stopped his car when he heard the commotion and had sent Xiao Wu and Nuannuan to wait in the back while he hurried forward.

As he approached, he saw her, her slender frame lifting the entire table.

He had been about to rush forward and pull her away, but then he heard the torrent of her anger.

Thinking that she must have been furious, for how else could such a gentle soul do something so dramatic?

He decided to let her vent her anger first.

After all, he was here now, and he wouldn’t let her suffer any harm.

Zhou Jinchuan finished his words and then extended his hand towards her. “Give me the bottle. Don’t hurt yourself.”

Su Yi, having already released her anger, tossed the bottle aside and said with a guilty conscience, “I’m fine.”

At that moment, Ye Xiaowu and Ye Nuannuan squeezed through the crowd and reached Su Yi’s side.

They each took one of her hands. “Sister Su, are you okay?”

Seeing the two children, Su Yi calmed down considerably. “I’m fine. It’s all over now.”

Zhou Jinchuan hummed in agreement and stood in front of Su Yi, his gaze sweeping over the crowd before settling on Qin Yunfeng.

“Comrade Qin , I was passing by nearby today and remembered that you were having a feast, so I came to mooch a meal. Seems like I came at a bad time?”

Qin Yunfeng, standing silently in the crowd: …
