After the couple boarded the ship, they found a corner to hide and kept their two children close to them.
The ship encountered numerous storms: some ships scattered, while others were blown away, and some survivors were thrown into the sea.
As they traveled, only one ship remained.
With a lack of food and clothing, and the survivors being too crowded, some people soon fell ill.
There were all kinds of diseases; some starved to death, some died of illness, and some went mad.
People died every day.
At first, it was manageable; the bodies would be taken away by the ship’s crew. But as hunger grew more desperate, the survivors’ eyes glowed with greed and they stared at the people who were about to die for a long time.
It was unclear who started it, but one moment someone was gasping their last breath, and the next, someone rushed over and cut a piece of meat from their thigh with a knife.
Once the first act happened, a second followed.
While family members were still in grief, a group of people had already rushed over.
By the time the crew arrived, it was already a bloody mess.
No matter how much they persuaded, explaining that the prion virus would infect them and lead to death, they didn’t listen.
They also tried their best to preached moral lessons, but reasoning could not solve the problem of hunger. They only stared at them with haunting and cold look.
That kind of look made the crew feel cold all over.
After several attempts, they didn’t dare to go back.
Sharp-mouthed monkey had two children, one of whom…
Had died on the ship.
Wang Meili was heartbroken and held the child and refused to let go.
Sharp-mouthed monkey covered her mouth, “Don’t cry, we can’t let them find it out.”
The couple huddled in a corner, using their bodies to shield their child. No matter how much pain they felt inside, they dared not show it.
But hiding for one day was possible; hiding for two days was not. Since everyone was crowded together, the heat caused the body to soon release a foul odor.
Later, Sharp-mouthed monkey carried his dead son on his back, and Wang Meili held the other child tightly in her arms. The couple walked out with knives.
Despite this, a lot of people came forward. “Why are you carrying such a big child? Is he dead?”
When he spoke, he even swallowed his saliva.
“My child is sick; I’m taking him to the doctor.” Sharp-mouthed monkey took out a plastic gun and said viciously, “Whoever dares to attack him, come if you are not afraid of death!”
The realistic-looking toy gun shocked the crowd combined with his fierce demeanor. For a moment, no one dared to step forward.
The couple squeezed desperately and took the opportunity to escape from the cabin.
A group of people reacted quickly and even chased to the door of the cabin, but Sharp-mouthed monkey and his family had already escaped to the deck.
There were crew and military above, so the crowd hesitated to follow.
They said goodbye sadly and threw their child into the sea…
If it weren’t for the other child to take care of, Sharp-Mouthed Monkey and Wang Meili might have jumped in too.
It was too difficult.
The crew advised them, “The natural disaster will pass; we must stay strong, and soon we’ll see the light.”
Sharp-mouthed monkey know he was ugly; after countless of blind dates, he finally got married to a beautiful wife.
His wife was tough and demanding, but who could blame her for looking like a fairy that he would gladly kneel and lick her feet every day.
At that time, his wife wouldn’t even look at him and spoke harshly.
But it didn’t matter because she was beautiful.
No matter how much she disliked him, he still managed to get her pregnant.
Moreover, after their first child, they soon had a second.
He worked like hard to make money, thinking that he would live a happy life with his wife and children, but who knew that natural disasters would come.
When the natural disaster came, his children were only two or three years old. It was so difficult to support his family. He could only risk his life, and he was almost killed many times.
The natural disaster was tough, but there were some good things.
His wife remained sharp-tongued but had begun to show some warmth.
It is probably because she saw many men selling their wives for food, and she is worried that he would also do the same.
But he could never do that.
If it ever came to that, he would rather let Wang Meili sell him than force her to sell herself.
Ten years were difficult, but he had luck on his side, and as the children slowly grew up, his wife began to treat him better.
But no one expected that the natural disaster would be so tragic.
Holding back his grief, they buried their son at the sea. The couple was heartbroken but could only endure and survive.
They did not return to the lower cabin, the three of them found a corner to stay.
Even if they died, they would die together.
The crew saw that this family still had humanity and didn’t make things difficult for them.
Every day felt like wandering around like a zombie; Sharp-mouthed monkey didn’t know how long they drifted until one day he finally woke up in their new home.
He had survived to reach the new home, but they had lost one child.
Despite Wang Meili’s fierce demeanor and seemingly heartless nature, by the time they she got off the ship, more than half of her hair was white.
But no matter how much pain they felt, life had to go on.
Wang Meili’s health deteriorated and she couldn’t work to make money, so she could only find a way to grow more potatoes.
Sharp-mouthed monkey returned to his old job and started everything from scratch.
Unexpectedly, he would meet his sister in his new home.
Thinking about how she had supported his business for years and even provided medicine for the smog virus made her seem like his second pair of parents.
For a moment, he couldn’t hold back his emotions, and he tried desperately to force out a smile to express his joy at the reunion, but it turned out to be more difficult than crying.
Knowing his experience, Jiang Ning felt sad.
After living for so many years, he had managed to keep his wife and children, which was better than most survivors.
But she didn’t know how to comfort him, “It’s all in the past; this is a new beginning.”
Sharp-mouthed monkey came back to his senses and nodded quickly. “Sister, you’re right. This is a new beginning.”
Then he changed the subject. “Sister, you just came in today. The house is still empty. Is there anything you need? If so, I’ll help you get it.”
Uh, he really couldn’t stop talking about his old business.
The sadness ended suddenly, and Jiang Ning quickly responded. “Sure, if you see what I need, help me get it.”
Sharp-mouthed monkey patted his chest and promised, “Okay, my sister’s business is my business, and I promise to make your new home brand new.”
After exchanging pleasantries, he didn’t stay longer and stood to say goodbye.
Jiang Ning saw him to the door.
Once he left, she quietly sat in the empty room without saying anything.
Sharp-mouthed monkey’s experiences were heart-wrenching, but compared to other survivors, he was doing much better.
She although thought, if she didn’t have the protection of the space. She might not live better than him.
The painful memories of her past life resurfaced in her mind.
Huo Yishen signaled to his sister, and Doudou took the dog back to her room.
He sat down next to her. “What’s wrong?”
Jiang Ning had a complicated expression. “I remembered something from the past.”
Huo Yishen knew that she was referring to her previous life.
He usually didn’t talk much, but he understood her deeply.
“Are you worried about Chief Gu?”
Having her thoughts exposed, Jiang Ning didn’t deny it. “I have enough food and drink now, and I can survive when I encounter danger, all thanks to the space he gave me.
Tell me, if I had taken him away with me when the plates collided, wouldn’t the outcome be different from today?”

Please bear with me if I didn’t update right away 😅. I was either buried in work 💼… or buried in rereading the book 📖. (P.S. Most of the time I’m rereading it 🤭—so you know just how good the story is! 🌟)
