Pregnant With My Rival’s Child
Pregnant With My Rival’s Child Chapter 42

Fu Rong said not to make him angry, but did that mean he could just make Chi Yao angry like that?

What made Fu Rong think that Chi Yao would listen to him?

Chi Yao’s hand was already on the door lock. The car was still moving, and although it was locked, it could be opened from the inside. Chi Yao knew this well. He tilted his head slightly, signaling Fu Rong to make a choice.

As their gazes met, Fu Rong realized that Chi Yao would indeed open the door. That was just his nature. In the past, he had been so infatuated with Shen Ling, but when he decided he no longer loved him, he simply moved on, as if the lovestruck person he had been was just an illusion.

But for Fu Rong, Chi Yao moving on from Shen Ling was a good outcome. After all, the person carrying his child shouldn’t have feelings for someone else. That would certainly not make Fu Rong happy.

“It’s just a trip to the hospital. The child is half mine, and I want to see it.” Fu Rong’s tone softened a little.

Chi Yao’s expression didn’t change. He didn’t even respond.

Fu Rong frowned. He realized that, around Chi Yao, it was difficult to maintain his strong and domineering persona. In the end, he was always the one who compromised—not Chi Yao, the pregnant man.

Pregnant man, huh?

Fu Rong chuckled. He never imagined he would have a child in his life. He had never planned on it and didn’t even think he would encounter love. Without love, there was no possibility of a “fruit of love.”

He never expected that the heavens would give him such a gift.

Although the child was not quite his yet, Fu Rong felt genuinely happy.

He had the driver pull over to the side of the road. Chi Yao sat on the left, which was unsafe for exiting. Fu Rong opened the door on the right and got out first, gesturing for Chi Yao to follow.

Chi Yao moved to the right and got out. In an instant, Fu Rong grabbed his wrist.

“Let me take you home,” Fu Rong insisted, holding onto Chi Yao’s wrist. The wind outside was cold, and Fu Rong worried it might make Chi Yao sick.

Chi Yao shook off Fu Rong’s hand. “No need. I was just out for a walk.”

The car was parked along a commercial street. Chi Yao turned and headed toward the sidewalk, while a deep voice behind him called his name.

Chi Yao didn’t turn back. He quickened his pace, leaving Fu Rong standing alone in the cold wind.

Chi Yao adjusted his scarf, pulling it up to cover most of his already small face. He walked into a dessert shop and sat by the window. After ordering something to eat, he slowly began to eat.

He called the driver, asking him to pick him up later from a specific location. Chi Yao wandered along the street, stopping occasionally. He didn’t notice that someone was following him. Fu Rong had been tailing him from a distance, watching as Chi Yao strolled around with a relaxed expression. Several times, Fu Rong wanted to approach him, to walk with him, but he remembered the things Chi Yao had said, knowing that Chi Yao had no fondness for him.

But why had Chi Yao appeared that night? Why had he shown up blindfolded and slept with him?

After that night, Chi Yao became pregnant—with a man’s body, he had conceived a child.

Did Chi Yao know he could get pregnant? Or didn’t he?

Fu Rong couldn’t figure it out. Had Chi Yao deliberately hidden the truth, deceiving him, and used that night as revenge for getting close to Shen Ling?

Fu Rong doubted it. Chi Yao wasn’t foolish enough to use such a method for revenge.

Or had he fallen in love with Fu Rong, moved on from Shen Ling, and developed feelings for him instead?

Fu Rong dismissed the idea. Chi Yao’s gaze held no trace of love for him. There was no way that night had happened because of love.

Fu Rong clenched his fists. No matter what Chi Yao thought, both he and the child, Fu Rong laughed to himself, were destined to belong to him.

The fact that Fu Rong had discovered his pregnancy didn’t surprise Chi Yao. He had mentally prepared for it. He had tried to keep things hidden, but nothing was ever perfect—there were always overlooked details.

Especially with the manager at the club. A little pressure could have made him reveal the truth.

But even if it was exposed, what could Fu Rong really do? Compete for custody of the child? Try to take Chi Yao himself?

Could he really win?

Chi Yao smirked coldly. Fu Rong, the person everyone admired, was always the center of attention. He could get whatever he wanted. There was no need for him to take Chi Yao or the baby.

Chi Yao thought for a moment and then let it go. His child, once born, would bear his surname—Chi. A baby born from his own body would, of course, carry his name.

Pushing the thought about Fu Rong aside, Chi Yao strolled around the shopping district for a while before heading to a mall.

The mall had several floors, and it had everything Chi Yao needed. He made his way to a familiar section, one he often visited when he had free time: the maternity and baby store. He liked to buy things for the baby in his belly.

He seemed to have fallen in love with the idea of shopping for his child. Chi Yao held a tiny pair of baby socks in his hands. Imagining his baby’s little feet wearing those socks, he thought about how adorable it would be.

After another round of shopping, Chi Yao had bought quite a few baby clothes. Tired from walking, he sat down to rest. His feet were sore, and suddenly, he felt a wave of nausea. He dry-heaved for a bit, then took a candy from his pocket and put it in his mouth to ease the discomfort.

The driver came to pick Chi Yao up, and when he got into the car, he saw that Xue Zhongming was also there. After Chi Yao got in, Xue Zhongming apologized to him, explaining that he had been in contact with Fu Rong recently.
