This racing game was extremely popular, and the two of them waited in line for nearly ten minutes before it was their turn. Sitting in the car of the anime protagonist Fujiwara Takumi, Jian Shuning felt as if she had become one of the characters, her blood boiling with excitement.
The car was real, the steering wheel was real, and the intense shaking of the car during the race made her feel as if she was actually experiencing it. During the big turns, she could feel the thrill of drifting at high speed, just like in the anime.
In real life, Jian Shuning didn’t know how to drive, but she was quite good at playing games. She drove recklessly and enjoyed it immensely.
She had a great time, but she still lost the race. Zheng Yuanshi, driving the car of another protagonist, Takahashi Keisuke, easily won against her.
After getting out of the car, Zheng Yuanshi deliberately looked at her with a proud expression.
She wrinkled her nose at him and snorted.
Next, they played a shooting game, and Zheng Yuanshi won again.
Jian Shuning was even more unwilling to admit defeat. She looked around and suddenly noticed a game set in an abandoned factory. Her eyes lit up.
Veil of Dark, a roller coaster game where players sit on a track and spin and flip along the track. During the game, players also need to shoot moving targets, which are zombies that appear suddenly.
Although her shooting skills were definitely not as good as her brother’s, this game required sitting on a spinning roller coaster! Her brother was most afraid of games that made him dizzy, haha.
So, without giving him a chance to refuse, she pulled the hesitant Zheng Yuanshi onto the ride.
As expected, after one ride on the roller coaster, Jian Shuning screamed with excitement and enjoyed watching Zheng Yuanshi’s discomfort.
He was clearly dizzy and sweating, but he still tried to maintain his dignity and act calm. Jian Shuning couldn’t help but laugh secretly.
“Josh, are you okay?” she asked very gently in Du Qingshuo’s voice. “You don’t look very comfortable.”
“I’m fine, I’m good,” Zheng Yuanshi said casually.
Tsk tsk, still pretending!
Jian Shuning secretly rolled her eyes and suddenly pointed to another game. “Let’s play that one!”
“Which one?” Zheng Yuanshi looked in the direction she was pointing and froze.
That game was called Halfpipe Tokyo. He had noticed it as soon as he came in. Players play in pairs, standing on a device similar to a pendulum, swinging back and forth along a U-shaped track to the rhythm of the music. Every time the pendulum swings to the middle white line, the two players have to step on the pedal together. The more accurate the timing, the higher the score. When stepping on the pedal, the pendulum itself also rotates.
In short, it was a game that was even more likely to make him dizzy than the roller coaster.
He absolutely couldn’t do it, it would kill him, it really would…
Zheng Yuanshi turned pale just watching others play.
“Josh???” Jian Shuning sweetly dragged out the last syllable, tilting her head slightly with a hint of coquettishness. “That one requires two people to play, you have to come with me!”
Zheng Yuanshi’s heart pounded, not sure if it was because of the rare display of coquettishness from the beauty, or because he was worried about not being able to survive the game.
“Josh???” the beauty called out again.
Zheng Yuanshi’s gaze sharpened. “Okay!”
After making up his mind, he took the lead and walked with a determined stride, his tall figure and resolute steps giving off a tragic heroism, as if he was about to embark on a journey of no return.
Jian Shuning laughed silently behind him, almost doubling over.
Do all men like to act tough in front of the woman they like? Hmph, let him act tough! Serves him right!
The two of them stood on the pendulum device and fastened their seat belts. Jian Shuning stole a glance at Zheng Yuanshi and saw his handsome face tense up.
The music started, and the game began.
Jian Shuning knew very well that this was a brutal torture for Zheng Yuanshi. She felt a bit guilty for doing this to him. Was it because he was gentle to other women but always mocked her, and she was taking this opportunity to vent her frustration?
She didn’t understand her own feelings, but when the game ended and she saw Zheng Yuanshi rush into the bathroom with an excuse, she regretted it.
He was probably vomiting in there!
Just like a very long time ago, when she forced herself to lose weight and ended up with an eating disorder, constantly gagging herself in the bathroom.
It was a very scary feeling, making her feel very vulnerable and self-loathing.
Later, she was almost drowned in her mother’s endless tears and had to promise to learn to love herself and cherish herself more…
When Zheng Yuanshi came out of the bathroom, his face was still a bit pale.
She smiled brightly. “Let’s go back to the hotel!”
He was taken aback. “You’re not going to play anymore?”
“I’ve played enough.” She spoke softly. “We have important things to do tomorrow. It’s better to go back and rest early.”
“That’s right, we should sleep early and get enough rest.” Zheng Yuanshi felt relieved, his eyes shining brightly.
The two of them left the shopping mall and headed towards the hotel.
The moonlight was hazy, and the night was cool like water. Looking at the two shadows on the ground that occasionally intertwined, Jian Shuning felt a bit dazed.
Whether it was because she was feeling too good or too bad, as she passed a stone staircase, she didn’t notice and twisted her ankle, breaking the heel of her left sandal.
Zheng Yuanshi saw this and quickly helped her sit down on the steps.
She looked at the broken heel in frustration. “What should I do?”
How could she walk with one high heel and one low heel? She might as well break the heel of the other shoe too.
Zheng Yuanshi noticed her thoughts and took the other shoe, breaking the heel for her.
“Thank you.” Jian Shuning shyly took back the shoe and put it on. When she stood up, she felt some pain in her left ankle. She then remembered that she had twisted her left ankle earlier when leaving the hotel, and now she had twisted the same spot again, probably injuring it.
“What’s wrong?” He looked at her slightly pained expression.
“My foot… seems to be twisted.” She explained softly and embarrassedly.
Zheng Yuanshi was taken aback and then playfully winked at her. “Then there’s no other way. I’ll have to carry you.”
Jian Shuning was stunned. In that moment of distraction, Zheng Yuanshi had already playfully squatted down in front of her, reaching his hands back. She, as if possessed, took a step forward and softly lay down on his broad back, her arms wrapped around his neck.
Zheng Yuanshi was taken aback, not expecting her to get on so readily. He thought she would still be hesitant for a while…
“Let’s go!” He exerted himself and lifted her onto his back.
She didn’t say anything, only her warm breath brushed against his neck, carrying a faint, sweet scent of a woman.
Zheng Yuanshi suddenly tensed up, as if only now realizing that he was carrying a soft and fragrant female body on his back, pressing against him, the feeling indescribably wonderful.
He instantly stiffened, his whole body tense.
