Alex, who was supposed to wait inside, came down as we moved the carriage. Robo, who was being carried, was allowed to stay inside under the condition that Alex, a Mithril Rank, continued holding him to prevent any chaos.
We were led into a luxurious reception room. The floor was covered with a floral-patterned carpet, and reddish-brown leather sofas were lined up on either side. A glass table in the center was adorned with pale pink roses.
“Wow. So fancy.”
As I looked around in awe, I accidentally made eye contact with the intelligent-looking man with glasses, who chuckled softly.
“Please, have a seat.”
Alex, I, Zeke, Ermine, and Cloud sat in a row. Across from us sat the man with glasses and a woman with her hair tied back, exuding a capable aura.
“I’m Victor, head of the Commerce Guild in Lints. This is Evelyn, one of our staff. It’s a pleasure to meet you both.”
“I’m Mei. Pleased to meet you. This is, um, my guardian, Ermine.”
“Nice to meet you~.”
Ermine’s laid-back greeting helped ease some of the tension I was feeling. As expected, Ermine’s fluffy, soothing presence was so comforting!
“So, you’re here to sell potions, correct?”
“Yes.”
I immediately pulled out a potion I had made from my bracelet. Victor’s eyes widened in shock.
“What in the world is that?”
Huh? This? Is he talking about the bracelet?
“An item box… I guess?”
If I remember correctly, this world has item boxes that appear in dungeons in the form of bags.
“I’ve never seen anything like that before. Which dungeon did it come from?”
“It was passed down as an heirloom, so I’m not sure.”
The witch who crossed worlds isn’t dead, but she’s no longer in this world, so calling it an heirloom should be fine, right?
“May I take a look at it?”
“Only Mei can see it as anything more than an ordinary bracelet.”
Ermine quickly shut down Victor’s curiosity.
“I see. A private item, then?”
“…What’s that?”
“It refers to items that only the registered owner can use. These are often rare and valuable, particularly when they come from dungeons.”
Satisfied with the explanation, Victor lost interest in the bracelet and picked up the potion.
“May I check the contents?”
“You can have it as a sample.”
I had to let them try it to see if it was any good, so I didn’t mind giving out a free sample.
“Thank you, I’ll take you up on that offer,” Victor said, removing the lid from the potion.
First, he sniffed it. Then, he stared intently at the contents and gently swirled the bottle. Finally, he tasted it carefully.
After drinking the potion, Victor took a deep breath and closed his eyes. I nervously waited for his assessment.
Victor slowly opened his eyes and let out another deep breath.
“I can’t believe a potion of this caliber exists in this world… Mei, I would very much like to purchase this from you. How much stock do you have? Additionally, if possible, would you be willing to sell us the recipe for 500 mithril silver coins?”
I had no idea how much 500 mithril silver coins were worth. But in any case, the potion can only be made by me, so I couldn’t teach them even if I wanted to.
“Uh, it seems that I’m the only one who can make that.”
I glanced at Ermine for confirmation, and Ermine nodded, his whiskers twitching.
“Only an alchemist can create it.”
“An alchemist? What’s that?”
Victor tilted his head in confusion.
“An alchemist can create anything as long as they have the materials, unlike a regular apothecary who can only make medicine. Mei even made the carriage we arrived in.”
“That carriage!? So, would it be possible for you to make another?”
“…I don’t think I can get the materials anymore.”
By materials, I’m sure he meant Koko’s feathers, not the gold or adamantite. Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’ll never get those feathers again.
“That’s unfortunate. Many people would pay a fortune for a carriage like that. Considering it’s the only one in existence, I wonder how much it’s worth… But you wouldn’t consider selling it, would you?”
I shook my head vigorously at Victor’s casual question. If I can’t make another one, there’s no way I’d ever sell it!
“Please don’t worry about it. I was just asking. Now, regarding the potion sale, you’ll first need to join the Commerce Guild. You’ll need two guarantors, and I assume Zeke and the others will act as your guarantors?”
“That’s right.”
Zeke nodded, and I smiled happily. I’m so glad I met such wonderful people.
“There’s a fee of five gold coins to join the guild. However, we can deduct it from the potion sales and handle the difference later. How does that sound?”
“Deduct it.”
I didn’t have any money on hand anyway. The only coins I had were the silver coins I received from Zeke in exchange for the antidote.
“Understood. Then, how about one silver coin per potion?”
…I had no idea what the going rate was. I probably should have asked Cloud beforehand.
“That’s too low.”
Cloud stepped in to negotiate on my behalf when I gave him a pleading look.
“How about two silver coins?”
“My potions sell for five silver coins each, and this is far superior to those. Two silver coins is a joke.”
“Then how about six silver coins?”
“One gold coin.”
“We wouldn’t make any profit at that price… How about eight silver coins?”
“That sounds fair. Mei, is that okay with you?”
I didn’t really understand, but since Zeke nodded, I guess it was fine.
