Zhou Jinchuan knew he couldn’t continue bringing up marriage.
He didn’t want to leave under these circumstances either, for fear that Su Yi would overthink things alone.
What if she really regretted it later? What then?
So he hurriedly searched his brain for a new topic.
After a long pause, he finally spoke, “What do you think about Qin Yunfeng and Bai Ruolin getting a divorce?”
Su Yi was taken aback and chuckled dryly, “Their divorce has nothing to do with me.”
But thinking back to what happened in her hometown, it seemed like it might have a little something to do with her?
Seeing that her mood wasn’t very bright, but clearly more relaxed than before, Zhou Jinchuan followed her lead.
“I know it has nothing to do with you, but if they really get divorced, I’m worried that Qin will pester you.”
Su Yi twitched her lips, “He wouldn’t dare. Ever since he saw us together at the door last time, he hasn’t bothered me again.”
[But you, you might be entangled by the one who plays the violin, hmph.]
Zhou Jinchuan heard the voice filled with sourness, and the slight grievance in his heart instantly dissipated.
Su Yi still liked him, cared about him.
He couldn’t help but curl his lips and nod, “That’s good. After they divorce, Bai Ruolin won’t stay in the army anymore, and it’ll save her from constantly antagonizing you.”
Su Yi looked puzzled, “She won’t stay here? Why?”
Zhou Jinchuan curved his lips, “Didn’t Political Commissar Wang plead for her to wait until after the New Year to be punished? The punishment for her from the art troupe has just been decided—immediate dismissal.”
“It’s just that the news hasn’t been made public yet, even Political Commissar Wang doesn’t know.”
Su Yi was startled and opened her mouth, “So, Bai Ruolin, without knowing she was going to be dismissed, divorced Qin Yunfeng. If they really divorce, she can’t stay here.”
Zhou Jinchuan nodded, “That’s right.”
Confirming this information, Su Yi couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement.
If Bai Ruolin was really dismissed from the army and went somewhere else, all the plot lines in the original book would be broken.
From now on, this world would be a new world without the female lead’s role.
How could it not be exhilarating?
Seeing that Su Yi’s attention had been completely diverted, Zhou Jinchuan stood up with relief.
“Go to sleep early tonight. I’ll move the stove outside so it’s safe.”
“Okay.”
Zhou Jinchuan went out, feeling like something was missing.
But thinking about how it might make her overthink things, he went downstairs dejectedly.
The next day.
Su Yi went to the logistics department early to report back from leave.
After completing the procedures, she was about to head to the cafeteria.
However, as she passed by the art troupe, she heard a commotion inside.
There were quite a few people gathered at the door, watching the spectacle.
Su Yi also curiously watched for a while, and then she heard Bai Ruolin’s pleading voice from inside.
“Director Deng, is it because I didn’t go to the dormitory to clean the toilets these past few days? It’s because I just came back a few days ago, and I had too much going on at home to take care of it. I’ll go tomorrow, no, I’ll go today.”
Commander Deng had been bothered by her and was becoming impatient, “You don’t need to go anymore. I’ve made it very clear, the art troupe’s punishment for you has been decided. You are no longer one of us.”
“You can still stay in the compound as Deputy Commander Qin’s spouse, but you shouldn’t come here anymore.”
With that, he stood up and turned to leave.
Bai Ruolin followed closely behind.
The onlookers dispersed, going about their own business.
Su Yi, who had just eaten a few bites of gossip, was also startled and turned to leave.
However, she was still spotted by Bai Ruolin.
“Su Yi, stop!”
Su Yi turned her head and blinked at her, “You’re calling me?”
Bai Ruolin snorted, “You think it’s funny seeing me like this? I’m telling you, Su Yi, I won’t do as you wish, and I won’t leave the army.”
“Don’t think you’re all smug now that you’re dating Commander Zhou. Do you know what kind of family Commander Zhou comes from? Do you think you can marry him with your qualifications? Don’t dream!”
Su Yi continued to blink, looking completely clueless, “I don’t understand what you’re saying, but are you sure you’ll stay?”
“Yesterday, I heard you and Qin Yunfeng were arguing with Political Commissar Wang for a long time, weren’t you getting a divorce?”
Bai Ruolin froze in place upon hearing this.
She had been so focused on pleading with Commander Deng that she had forgotten about it!
Ever since returning from the countryside, Qin Yunfeng had been giving her the cold shoulder.
All he talked about was divorce.
In a fit of anger yesterday, she went with Qin Yunfeng to file for divorce.
She had thought that even after the divorce, she could still stay in the army by working for the art troupe.
She could then slowly scheme against Zhou Jinchuan.
How could she have known that she would be suddenly notified of her dismissal today!
If that’s the case, wouldn’t she have to leave the army and have no chance of turning things around!
Thinking about this, Bai Ruolin couldn’t be bothered to bicker with Su Yi anymore.
She took off running towards the office building.
Seeing her run off, Su Yi quickly headed towards the cafeteria.
After being delayed for a while, when she arrived at the kitchen, Xu Xiaoqin and Zhang Tianhua were already busy.
As soon as Xu Xiaoqin saw Su Yi return, she immediately put down her work and rushed over, hugging Su Yi tightly.
“Su Yi, ahhhh, finally I see you again! Did you miss us?”
Su Yi grinned, “I missed you, I missed you. Ah, you’re going to suffocate me.”
Zhang Tianhua just stood there smiling, “Xiaoqin, loosen up a bit.”
Xu Xiaoqin shyly stuck out her tongue, “I’m just too excited.”
Then, she quickly added, “By the way, before you arrived, Chef Wang sent someone over. He said there’s a meeting after lunch today.”
“Meeting?” Su Yi clicked her tongue, “A meeting as soon as we start work again? Are they trying to make things too busy?”
Zhang Tianhua pursed her lips, “Judging by the person’s tone, it’s probably not good news. We should be careful.”
Su Yi nodded and quickly joined their work.
While working, she considered telling the two about her intention to resign.
After hearing it, both of them were stunned, “You’re going to open a restaurant in town? Really?”
Su Yi nodded, “Yes, I’ve already found a storefront. I was originally planning to tell Master Ma in a few days when I found a suitable opportunity, but seeing today’s situation, if Chef Wang starts making trouble right away, there’s no need to wait. So I’m telling you first so you can be mentally prepared.”
Xu Xiaoqin couldn’t accept it for a moment, “But this place was so hard to get into, isn’t it a pity to give up such a good job?”
Su Yi understood what she meant.
Anyone you asked outside would know this was a good job.
To quit such a job and go out to open a restaurant.
It was incomprehensible to anyone.
