Pregnant With My Rival’s Child
Pregnant With My Rival’s Child Chapter 56

Fu Rong’s gaze flickered; he stared at Shen Ling with a strange and unfamiliar expression.

Shen Ling did not know the truth and that truth was a secret between Fu Rong and Chi Yao.

“You’re so good to that child. Even if he is not your biological son. The child did not even have a drop of your blood in his veins. You should just consider him your own.”

“Chi Yao liked me so much back then; now he says he doesn’t love me anymore. I just wanted to kiss him, and then he just…”

Shen Ling spread his hands and explained why he got beaten.

Fu Rong’s fists clenched. Chi Yao stood behind him, and his expression gradually softened with pity. In Fu Rong’s memory, Shen Ling wasn’t particularly smart, but how had he become so foolish now?

Or perhaps Shen Ling had really fallen for him and got caught up in love, thus becoming stupid?

That image was quite amusing.

A flicker of interest shone in Chi Yao’s eyes.

Fu Rong’s voice was as cold as iron. “You said you kissed Chi Yao?”

“No, I didn’t even touch him. I was just about to, but he kicked me away. I think Chi Yao is the best liar here. Chi Yao, won’t you say something?”

He was completely played by Chi Yao, Shen Ling thought he used to be so foolish to be toyed with like this.

Chi Yao was called out by name; he stepped out from behind Fu Rong, but the next moment, Fu Rong caught his hand.

Chi Yao stopped and glanced at Shen Ling before turning to Fu Rong. “Do you believe him?”

Fu Rong’s answer was firm: “No.”

“Then that’s fine. If you dare to nod, you can forget about coming to my house.” Then he wouldn’t have to hold the baby anymore.

“I’m going to the car. I feel a bit dizzy. You handle this.” The effects of the alcohol seemed to kick in again, and Chi Yao felt dizzy, turning to head to the car—Fu Rong’s car.

Fu Rong watched Chi Yao close the car door and held his gaze for a few seconds before turning back.

Shen Ling coughed up more blood, wiping the stains from the corners of his mouth. He stared at Fu Rong as he approached, their eyes meeting, and Shen Ling finally understood Fu Rong’s attitude.

“It seems you’ve fallen for him,” Shen Ling said with a smile.

Fu Rong stood in front of Shen Ling, grabbing his collar and pulling him up.

The veins on Fu Rong’s forehead throbbed. In response to Shen Ling’s smile, he suddenly threw a punch that landed in Shen Ling’s abdomen.

He had already been hit there by Chi Yao before; now with this blow, Shen Ling felt as if his internal organs were bleeding. Strangely, he felt like he deserved this treatment.

“Don’t get close to him, Shen Ling.” Fu Rong’s gaze and voice were icy, with frost hanging from his eyelashes.

“What if I say no?”

Shen Ling tilted his head, wearing a look that said he wouldn’t let go.

“Then I’ll make you roll out of here!”

Fu Rong spoke each word with a chilling intensity.

“I don’t understand…” Shen Ling said.

“I don’t understand, How in just a few months, you’ve completely fallen for him. Why?”

Shen Ling wanted to know the reason. If he knew, could he also get closer to Chi Yao like how Fu Rong did and win him over?

“You don’t need to know the reason, and you’re not worthy of knowing.” Fu Rong suddenly released his grip, causing Shen Ling to fall to the ground. Shen Ling clutched his cramping stomach, his face turning pale from the pain.

Fu Rong stood in front of Shen Ling. “You and him are finished. In the past, you didn’t cherish him, and now you have no chance left.”

“Don’t make yourself miserable, Isn’t it better to part ways amicably?”

“Part ways amicably?” Blood trickled from the corner of Shen Ling’s mouth, winding down his neck.

“Of course, you can say that. You have everything, Fu Rong. Do you know that sometimes you’re really quite annoying?” Shen Ling’s gaze was filled with resentment.

He stopped pretending; he wasn’t acting at all anymore. Shen Ling swayed and stood up, laughing madly, on the edge of insanity.

Meeting Room – Feeding the Baby Formula

Fu Rong suddenly felt pity for Shen Ling. He had no interest in dealing with such a pathetic person.

Turning around, Fu Rong prepared to leave, throwing one last remark at Shen Ling: “That person isn’t someone you can touch. Think it over, Shen Ling.”

Fu Rong returned to the car, and Chi Yao leaned over when he saw Fu Rong enter.

“I’m going to take a nap.” Chi Yao leaned on Fu Rong’s shoulder and fell asleep.

Fu Rong looked down and placed a light kiss on Chi Yao’s hair.

The car drove away, leaving Shen Ling far behind. Shen Ling sat on the ground, laughing to the point that his shoulders trembled slightly.

Chi Yao suddenly remembered something; his phone had been thrown by Shen Ling. Fu Rong said it was fine; he would send someone to find it.

Back home, the baby was still asleep. Chi Yao bent down to touch the baby’s small face. Seeing his baby made all his worries fade away.

Fu Rong walked in and stood at the door.

Chi Yao would go out later, and Fu Rong told him, “I’ll handle things with Shen Ling.”

“Okay.” Chi Yao didn’t ask how Fu Rong would deal with it; if this person couldn’t handle such a small matter, then he wouldn’t deserve the Fu surname.

The baby was growing rapidly day by day and was gradually able to crawl by himself. Chi Yao had found someone to carpet the house so the baby could crawl freely on the floor.

However, most of the time, the baby still liked to cling to Chi Yao.

Chi Yao spent some time at home with the baby, but there were matters at the company that required his presence. Seeing the baby was healthy, Chi Yao realized he didn’t have to be with him all the time. The baby should spend some time alone occasionally and not be too clingy, so he decided to go to the company.

When Chi Yao wasn’t home, Fu Rong became quite diligent.

He replaced the door lock with a password lock, allowing Fu Rong to enter the house at any time.

Chi Yao went about his business while Fu Rong stayed home to take care of the baby. Chi Yao was busy with his own matters, which could be said to be the busiest time. Many things required his presence.

Fu Rong wouldn’t let Chi Yao return home and let him handle his business; he simply took the baby with him to the company.

The nanny followed behind, dragging bags filled with the baby’s things.

People in the company had heard some rumors; it seemed there was a little baby, but no one had heard anything about a marriage. It seemed the baby belonged to Chi Yao, but no one knew the exact truth of the situation.

However, since Fu Rong was so concerned, it surely wasn’t simple.

The baby had become very attached to Fu Rong and didn’t like being held by the nanny; he would cry out for Fu Rong to pick him up.

While Fu Rong was in a meeting, the baby was over there babbling, singing his baby songs. Several times, he interrupted Fu Rong, and the company employees all kept their heads down, not daring to make a sound.

Fu Rong stood up and walked over to pick up the baby.

Holding him in his arms, he sat down behind his desk. The baby held a small toy and wanted Fu Rong to play with him. Fu Rong played with the baby while listening to his subordinates’ work reports.

He could be said to be quite adept at multitasking.

Once the subordinates left the office, they let out a sigh of relief. It had been quite intense inside; that little baby was just too adorable, delicate like a doll. Several subordinates, some of whom were single, suddenly felt inspired to find someone to date, hoping to have a cute baby like that.

When the baby got hungry and cried for milk, the nanny prepared the formula. Fu Rong took it over; he had become quite skilled at this, even better than the nanny.

The baby held the bottle with both little hands, his chubby cheeks puffing up as he drank. After finishing the bottle, the baby burped, and Fu Rong took a wet wipe to clean the baby’s mouth. The baby reached for the wet wipe, playfully tugging it with Fu Rong.

Fu Rong was extremely patient. Whatever the baby did, he found it adorable and endearing.

After playing for a while, the baby finally got sleepy and was taken by the nanny to sleep. Fu Rong finally had a bit of peace and quiet, but without the little weight in his arms, he suddenly felt a sense of emptiness.

During a break from work, Fu Rong went in to check on the baby and suddenly had a thought. He took out his phone and snapped a picture, then sent it to someone.

Chi Yao was having tea with someone in the reception room when a message came in. He picked up his phone and, seeing the baby’s sleeping face, immediately smiled.

When asked if something good had happened, Chi Yao replied that it was nothing.

The baby had been taken to the company by Fu Rong lately, and Chi Yao hadn’t stopped him. He could see that Fu Rong was very good at taking care of the baby, perhaps even better than Chi Yao himself. Chi Yao didn’t seem to know how to feed the baby formula yet, while Fu Rong was quite proficient.

Every day, Fu Rong took the baby with him to the company, and everyone there started to look forward to it. That baby was too cute, even more adorable than the babies in TV commercials. Some employees would even wait secretly in places Fu Rong passed, hoping to catch a glimpse of the cute baby first.

The baby was still small, not yet a year old, but one could imagine how he would be when he grew up—definitely super handsome, a little prince.

That day, while Fu Rong was in a meeting, the baby had originally fallen asleep. However, when he woke up and didn’t see Fu Rong, he immediately started crying loudly. The nanny tried to calm him for a long time without success. Fu Rong directly told the nanny that she could come to him anytime. Although the nanny knew Fu Rong was in a meeting, she also understood very clearly that this little guy was more important than anything else.

She knocked twice on the meeting room door and then pushed it open to enter.

Everyone in the meeting room turned to look at the two who had just come in, especially the little guy who was crying loudly, his face flushed from crying.

The moment Fu Rong heard the crying, he stood up from his position at the meeting table. In just two or three steps, he reached the nanny and took the baby from her arms.

After asking what was wrong, the nanny shook her head. The baby’s temperature was normal, and there didn’t seem to be any other issues. He had woken up fine, but after being held for a while, he started crying, probably because he hadn’t seen Fu Rong.

Fu Rong held the baby in the meeting room and began to soothe him. The room went silent, with everyone only able to hear Fu Rong gently comforting the little one.

As Fu Rong spoke to the baby, he mentioned a title: “Daddy.”

Everyone knew the baby wasn’t Fu Rong’s but Chi Yao’s, yet now Fu Rong was calling himself the baby’s daddy. Did that mean Fu Rong and Chi Yao were together?

That was the shared thought among everyone in the meeting room.

After a while of being comforted in Fu Rong’s arms, the little guy surprisingly closed his eyes and fell asleep. Fu Rong breathed a sigh of relief, thinking something had happened, but it turned out he had just cried because he hadn’t seen Fu Rong.

Thankfully, he was the one taking care of the baby; if Chi Yao were around, he would surely be anxious.

Fu Rong sat back in his main position, still holding the baby, indicating that the meeting could continue, though with lower voices.

Everyone lowered their voices, making it a special meeting for the employees who had been in the company for many years.

With the baby in his arms, Fu Rong suddenly seemed like a different person; his whole aura softened. He no longer had that earlier low-pressure demeanor, as if anything the employees said was wrong.

By the time the meeting was nearing it’s end, the baby woke up and immediately reached out his little hand to Fu Rong when he saw him. Fu Rong offered his finger, and the baby played with it.

The nanny came over with the milk bottle, and Fu Rong held the baby in front of the company’s higher-ups while feeding him the formula.

Someone quietly took out their phone to snap a couple of pictures, but they forgot to turn off the flash. The sudden light caught Fu Rong’s attention, and he looked up with a serious expression.
