The Law-Abiding Evil God
The Law-Abiding Evil God Chapter 8

Chapter 8

At the same time, Yue Yin was in a great mood.

She figured Jiang Suliu was naive and wealthy, the perfect gullible target for her first follower!

With her first success, Yue Yin was determined to expand her following, intending to reconnect with her true form and return to the Void Cosmos!

She eagerly prepared to advance her goal of recruiting as many followers as possible.

Recently, Yue Yin had overheard Captain Li Changhe and others discussing various folk organizations in this world, which was news to her. She learned that this world had Daoist temples, Buddhist sects, and even licensed mystical practitioners who regularly advertised on social media and hosted livestreams.

While she had been handing out flyers tirelessly: “…Turns out I was way behind the times!”

Abandoning her outdated methods, Yue Yin embraced the internet, determined to carve out a niche for her Moon Cult among the myriad of temples, sects, and astrology experts.

She created a Weibo account under the name “Thousand-Faced Moon.”

“This username is already taken?” Yue Yin’s mood took a nosedive as she stared at the screen’s notification.

“Who else would use that name?”

Frustrated, she tried several variations: “Mother of Monsters… Hydra… Everything is taken!”

Finally, after some trial and error, she managed to register as “ThousandFacedMoonHydra123.”

Her brother, Shen Xiaodi, was munching on an apple nearby, watching the whole process unfold. He offered his astute observation: “Yue Yin, you look like one of those online quacks selling fake medicine.”

Yue Yin fell silent, muttering, “Xiaodi, it’s amazing you’ve survived this long without getting punched.”

But no matter. She was ready to make her first post and see if there were any willing fools today who’d want to join her Moon Cult.

Thanks to the recent gas explosion incident, anything remotely supernatural was trending online.

An anonymous witness had claimed to see a monster at the scene, insisting that the so-called “gas leak” was a cover-up. Although most people at the scene had signed non-disclosure agreements, it wasn’t surprising that someone had managed to slip through the cracks.

This witness described the monster in vivid detail and even claimed that a high school girl had saved the day. However, the post was quickly taken down, and it was so far-fetched that most readers dismissed it outright.

“Come on, bro. Write a more believable story next time. A head monster and a moon-worshipping high schooler? You writing a novel or something?”

“Exactly. Why didn’t you just say it was a ghost?”

“This is a serious issue, not something you should make up just for clout!”

Alongside the skeptics, there was a group eager to debate the existence of ghosts and the paranormal.

One person chimed in mysteriously, claiming the world indeed held creatures beyond human understanding. This spiraled into a full-blown ghost story convention, where people shared tales about encounters that supposedly happened to a “friend of a friend.”

The tales were so absurd that some were hard to believe. But given the fascination with unsolved mysteries, many readers were both horrified and curious.

In the midst of all this, Yue Yin saw her chance. She logged into a popular paranormal group and posted confidently.

“Do you want to become the master of the world?”

“Do you crave the power of eternal life?”

“Do you desire wealth beyond your wildest dreams?”

“I am the Thousand-Faced Moon, the Void’s supreme Monster Mother, Hydra. Betrayed in a previous life and stranded on Earth, I now seek followers. Only 998 to join, and you’ll secure a spot by my side when I return to my true form. Eternal life, riches, and glory await you…”

Feeling proud, Yueyin lounged back, convinced she was about to recruit her second follower.

Within minutes, comments flooded in.

“Hey, everyone, look! That girl who thinks she’s a god is back!”

“We may be a little anti-science here, but we’re not idiots.”

“Who are you trying to fool? Thousand-Faced Moon? Monster Mother? Hydra? You might as well claim you’re Qin Shi Huang.”

“Haha, just the other day, a guy pretending to be Qin Shi Huang conned a rich guy and got arrested. Waiting for you to end up in jail too!”

As an internet novice and self-proclaimed deity, Yue Yin was taken aback by the fierce backlash. She clutched her chest, sighing dramatically: “Humans don’t understand… A precious opportunity was right in front of them, and they missed it! Once they lose it, they’ll regret it forever!”

The world had truly gone downhill.

Once upon a time, her cult had spread across the cosmos, with people scrambling to be her followers. Anyone who dared insult her name would be chased across eight galaxies.

And now? She was stuck doing her own PR.

Yue Yin sighed, biting into Xiaodi’s apple, much to his horror: “Yue Yin, why are you eating my apple? Can’t you peel your own?”

Ignoring him, YueYin mulled over her situation. Earthlings were so stingy—even a bite of an apple was too much for them.

In comparison, Jiang Suliu was incredibly generous, transferring a million without a second thought.

But after being here for a couple of weeks, she’d only managed to recruit a single follower, Jiang Suliu—who’d just happened to stumble into that supernatural event.

At this rate, who knew how long it would take her to reconnect with her true form?

Lost in thought, she took another bite of the apple, her expression turning wistful.

Then, a notification appeared on her phone, revealing a new friend request. It was from a certain government department.

“Hello, I’m Yuyu from the Paranormal Incident Management Division. We met at HQ :)”
