Soon, we received contact from the unit that had helped Himari and the others. Before introducing ourselves, we expressed our gratitude using a short-range communication device that can function even in areas with communication disruptions like Marun Dark.
“Thank you for saving us from a dangerous situation.”
“Please, don’t mention it. We acted on our own judgment since it seemed that civilians were aboard.”
“We are from the Amuria Federation, specifically the Kingdom of Amuria. If it’s not too much trouble, could you tell us your affiliation?”
“We are merely a mercenary group. We go by the name ‘Crimson Mecha.’ We were on a mission when we came across you. Due to confidentiality obligations with our client, we cannot disclose further details.”
Crimson Mecha… As the name suggests, their magical machines are primarily colored red. I hadn’t heard of them before, but judging by the outcome of the recent battle, their skills seem to be top-notch.
“I’m sorry to ask this so suddenly, but could I request your mercenary group to take a job right here and now?”
I had made that request impulsively. With such a powerful group, they should be able to repel any pursuers.
“As I mentioned earlier, we are currently engaged in another assignment…”
“Please! As for the compensation, while I can’t say how much we can offer, I assure you that we will do everything within our means!”
If I missed this opportunity, I would lose my chance to be free from the relentless pursuers. I begged desperately.
“If you insist that much, then I understand. However, the mission we are currently undertaking is very important. I must clarify that we will prioritize that mission under any circumstances. Is that acceptable to you?”
“Of course. It’s a demanding request, so I won’t ask for luxury.”
“Understood. Please tell me the details of the request.”
“I would like you to escort us until we reach a safe zone within the Amuria Federation.”
“I see. Understood. However, our current task isn’t finished yet, so we cannot move just yet. Please be aware that we may need to move together due to our circumstances.”
In exchange for safety, I became unable to move from this place. However, with the hope of survival emerging, I couldn’t complain.
On the other hand, regarding the enemy forces, their movements had intensified as they wiped out a separate unit and additional mysterious forces had joined them. They were keeping their distance while observing our situation rather than actively closing the gap. Yet, unbelievably, they still didn’t give up on the pursuit. Their tenacity was astonishing.
In contrast, the leader of the Crimson Mecha, who had saved us from a dire situation, was a gentleman. I had the opportunity to speak with him directly to clarify the details of our request, but I was first overwhelmed by his appearance. He was tall, with fiery red hair, and looked to be around my age. Despite his youth, he possessed an unexpectedly calm demeanor, and his angelic face, complemented by a gentle voice, exuded an unusual sense of pressure.
“I am Fistora, the leader of Crimson Mecha.”
He introduced himself, but for some reason, his words barely registered in my ears. Instead, my heart began to race oddly. I felt my body temperature rising steadily.
