After Breaking Off the Engagement, I Was Pampered By My Younger Uncle Chapter 42

Chapter 42: Good Child

“It’s the cat’s!” Ruan Li firmly denied any connection to the situation, retreating a few steps to escape the man’s gaze. “That’s its outfit, not mine. Don’t overthink it.”

Fu Huaizhou’s long, slender fingers held the embarrassing piece of clothing a stark contrast to his cold and restrained demeanor. His Adam’s apple moved as he spoke in a low voice, “So, you’re saying this outfit, clearly designed for an adult woman about 168 cm tall, is for the cat?”

Ruan Li wanted to flee the awkward scene, but the man blocked the doorway. She had no choice but to hide under the blanket, her voice muffled as she spoke. “Just leave! I don’t want to talk to you.”

“This is my room too,” Fu Huaizhou said, amused by how easily she got flustered. He tossed the garment beside her. “Since it’s prepared, put it on for me.”

“No way! I wasn’t planning to wear it, and besides, Lucky has already chewed on it. There’s no way I’m putting it on.” Ruan Li grasped at this excuse, feeling it was reasonable.

Fu Huaizhou glanced at the innocent looking cat. “You don’t mind kissing it, but now you’re complaining?”

Ruan Li fell silent, embarrassed because he was right. She had no idea when he had seen her kiss Lucky, but clearly, he was some kind of voyeur.

“Either way, I’m not wearing it. Stop dreaming.”

She clung to the blanket tightly as if afraid the man might suddenly pounce on her. The room was quiet for a few seconds before she heard his footsteps moving away from the bed. Just as she was about to relax

“I’m going to take a shower. If you haven’t put it on by the time I’m done, I won’t mind helping you myself.”

“Pervert!” Ruan Li muttered quietly as she cursed at him heading to the bathroom. The slight relief she had felt quickly evaporated. She peeked out from under the blanket and saw the room now empty except for the sound of running water from the bathroom.

She glanced at the cat that was purring sweetly while lying on her slippers and lightly nudged its belly with her foot. “It’s all your fault! You traitor. You run to him the second you see him.”

The cat meowed softly as if disagreeing with her.

Ruan Li stared at the outfit on the bed, her face flushed red. She had tried it on earlier and knew it barely covered anything. As for Fu Huaizhou’s threat to help her put it on, she had no doubt he was serious.

He was, after all, a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Proper and gentlemanly outside the bedroom, but a beast within.

When Fu Huaizhou came out of the bathroom, the room was dark, with only a faint glow from the bathroom light. He walked over to the bed and saw a figure wrapped tightly in a blanket.

“Don’t turn on the light…” Ruan Li said the moment she heard his footsteps.

“You put it on but don’t want me to see?” Fu Huaizhou paused at the edge of the bed. Instead of turning on the overhead light, he switched on the bedside lamp.

Ruan Li peeked out with just her eyes, spotting the man standing by the bed, still damp from his shower. The dim light made everything feel more intimate.

“Can’t you leave the lights off?” she pleaded softly.

Fu Huaizhou pulled back the blanket a little, revealing her to his gaze.

“No.”

His eyes moved over her body slowly. The “qipao” she wore showcased her figure perfectly. Her pale skin stood out starkly, and the barely there fabric left little to the imagination. It was more like a few straps than an actual outfit.

“Come here,” Fu Huaizhou’s voice was hoarse.

Realizing she had already worn it, Ruan Li figured there was no point in being shy now. She got up slowly from the bed and moved toward him, feeling utterly exposed with every step.

When she reached him, he pulled her into his arms, breathing in her familiar scent. This time, he decided not to take off his glasses, unlike before.

“Remember what you said last time in the guest room?” he asked.

Ruan Li, feeling dazed from his embrace, blinked slowly. “What? I don’t remember.”

“When you took advantage of me.” His large hand squeezed her waist gently.

The room was quiet, filled only with their breaths. Ruan Li rested her hand on his shoulder, clutching the collar of his robe as she tried to recall.

“I said I was in a bad mood,” she mumbled softly, “and asked if I could touch you.”

“Exactly,” Fu Huaizhou chuckled, nibbling her ear, “Now it’s my turn.”

“You look beautiful tonight,” he whispered compliments into her ear, making her blush.

Later, Ruan Li was utterly exhausted, carried out of the bathroom in Fu Huaizhou’s arms. Just when she was about to drift off to sleep, she spotted the ruined garment on the bed, instantly bringing her back to full consciousness.

“Come here, I need to put some ointment on you,” Fu Huaizhou said, entering the room with a tube of cream. He stood at the foot of the bed, watching her roll around in the blankets.

“I can do it myself,” Ruan Li replied, her voice muffled. Sure, he had helped her bathe earlier, but now that everything was over, she felt more self-conscious.

Ignoring her protest, Fu Huaizhou grabbed her by the ankle and pulled her closer, prompting her to yelp.

“If you’re going to do it, it’ll still be in front of me,” he remarked casually, still damp from his shower, his expression satisfied.

Ruan Li buried her head under the covers, only exposing the part of her body that needed ointment.

The room was quiet, save for their breathing. Suddenly

Fu Huaizhou found her shy demeanor amusing and playfully smacked her round bottom with his palm, producing a loud “slap” in the silence. “Turn over,” he commanded.

“I’m not a child!” Ruan Li grumbled from under the blanket. Back at home, even when punished, she had only ever been hit on the palms or back.

Once he finished applying the ointment, he put everything away and turned off the bedside lamp before climbing into bed.

“Come here,” he called to the girl still hiding under the blanket.

She stayed still, pretending to be asleep, just like she always did.

With a sigh, Fu Huaizhou leaned over and gently pulled her out of the blanket, settling her into his arms. “You’ve been good today,” he whispered.

Lying on his chest, Ruan Li could feel the vibrations as he spoke. When he called her “good,” she blushed deeply, like a ripe peach.

She couldn’t help but recall how he had called her his “good child” earlier, coaxing her to cooperate.

Feeling ashamed of her thoughts, she buried her face deeper into his chest, and Fu Huaizhou chuckled softly. “Your face is practically heating up my shoulder.”
