Chapter 16
Finally, Song Chunshi managed to explain her intentions. She wasn’t scheming or anything, she just wanted to make some money following Alan’s sister.
Carol couldn’t help but laugh. He remembered that the girl had recently sold a Starlight Stone and received 8 million credit points. Was she really that short of money?
However, wanting to actively train herself was a good thing. With her past experiences, hunting star beasts wasn’t a boast, and Carol had no reason to object.
He could only say, “Focus on your training first, the military academy has everything you need.”
That day’s training was spent at the weapons exhibition hall and the shooting range.
That night, the students went to sleep with their hearts pounding. As a result, the whole night passed peacefully, without any unexpected incidents.
The next day, when they woke up, some students were still too nervous about the instructor’s midnight raid and couldn’t sleep soundly. They were all listless.
The instructor named Cain mocked them loudly, “Look at you bunch of rookies, you’re even more pathetic than a chick that’s fallen into the water! Even star beasts wouldn’t want to open their mouths when they see you, because you’ll infect them with the cowardice virus!”
Not to mention the students who couldn’t sleep well, even the other freshmen were filled with anger after hearing this.
Song Chunshi said to the system, “[This instructor should be very strong.]”
The system didn’t answer immediately. It was assessing Cain’s combat strength. After a moment, it said, “[He’s indeed not weak, did you sense it, Host?]”
“[No, I just feel that if he wasn’t strong enough, he would have been stuffed into a sack by now.]”
The system was speechless.
For several days, the evenings were peaceful. The students gradually relaxed. Perhaps the midnight gathering on the first night was just an exception.
However, Song Chunshi said to Alan, “Don’t relax too soon.”
Alan nodded repeatedly, “I always feel a little uneasy, like something bad is going to happen.”
They were doing simulated wilderness training today. The interior of the training facility was transformed into various terrains: forests, swamps, mountains, deserts. The students scrambled and tumbled through them, covered in dirt.
When the instructor announced the end of training for the day, many students collapsed directly onto the ground, too tired to even move their fingers.
Alan was sweating profusely, his round face flushed red from the heat, “Chunshi, aren’t you tired?”
He knew that Song Chunshi had good stamina, but even the few A-class physique students were panting at this point, while she only had a little sweat on her forehead, and she still looked full of energy. The difference was too big.
“I’m alright.” Song Chunshi replied truthfully.
After all, it was only a simulated environment, it was different from the real wilderness. There was no extreme temperature, no dangerous beasts, only rugged terrain. The actual danger level was very low, she didn’t find it difficult at all.
Alan was envious, “If only I could be as strong as you.”
Song Chunshi looked at his physique. Although she didn’t agree with the system’s nickname for him, she had to admit that Alan’s weight was indeed a bit overweight. If he wanted to be like her, he should lose some weight first.
As if sensing her thoughts, Alan scratched his head and smiled sheepishly, “I just can’t control my mouth.”
“It’s okay, you don’t have to diet.” You don’t have to worry about not controlling your mouth, she would make him move his legs. For example, he could start with a 20-kilometer run, then squat for two hours.
Alan suddenly felt a chill down his spine. He looked around but didn’t see anything. Thinking that Chunshi was by his side, he wouldn’t be in danger, he laughed happily again.
After the usual bedtime passed, Song Chunshi was still sitting cross-legged on the edge of her bed, meditating.
While catching her breath, the system asked her, “[Host, aren’t you going to sleep?]”
Song Chunshi asked an unrelated question, “[If you were going to play a prank, when would you choose to do it?]”
“[Only humans would do such a boring thing,]” the system retorted, and then said, “[Definitely when the person is most unprepared, most relaxed.]”
Song Chunshi smiled and said, “That’s right now.”
“[What—]”
The system hadn’t finished speaking when a sharp, urgent whistle suddenly sounded from the training field.
Tonight, the students were exhausted, and they had let down their guard. It was the most soundly they had slept in days. The instructors were being real jerks, and they were playing the surprise attack game again.
The training over the past few days had been effective. Five minutes later, everyone was lined up in formation on the training field, no one was late.
It’s just that although the students were there, their hearts were probably still in bed. Some were nervous, some were groggy.
The instructor shook his head at them, looking heartbroken, “The training has been going on for six days, six whole days of training, and this is the result you give me? You’re so disappointing!”
“Everyone here claims to be the most outstanding geniuses among your peers. I say, genius, where are your shoes? And you, genius, are you playing the role of a one-armed man? Where’s your other sleeve?”
He pointed at them one by one. After pointing at more than a dozen people, the students finally all woke up.
At this point, the instructor waved his hand and said with a heavy heart, “Alright, you can’t show up in front of people looking like this next time. Dismissed.”
The students stood there, looking at him with resentment.
The instructor glared, “What are you looking at? You’re not tired, I am. Go back to sleep! Anyone who’s late tomorrow will be punished with five laps!”
The freshmen finally dragged themselves back.
Song Chunshi and Alan were at the back of the dispersing group. Song Chunshi suddenly asked, “Do the instructors also live in the training field?”
Over there at the capsule cabin, hundreds of freshmen were gathered together. Even with the help of smart light brains, accidents could still happen. The instructors probably wouldn’t be too far away from them.
After a few days of training, she had roughly figured out the layout of the training field. She noticed that on the other side, diagonally opposite the students, there were also a dozen or so capsule cabins. She guessed that it was the instructors’ temporary dormitory.
Alan yawned as he walked, his eyes watery, “I heard from my sister that it’s like that. What’s wrong?”
“I want the instructors to experience the feeling of waking up in the middle of the night.” Song Chunshi hummed.
She had stayed up until now, and she felt uneasy if she didn’t do something.
Alan—
His eyes widened. Before he could speak, someone suddenly leaned over, “Count me in.”
Song Chunshi and Alan turned to look at him at the same time. It was a strange student.
Alan asked, “You’re Qiu Yuanming?”
“You know me?” The boy was surprised.
Because of the name, Song Chunshi took a closer look at him. He had black eyes, but brown hair, a mixed-race appearance.
Alan shook his head, “Not really.”
The boy didn’t think much of it, he chuckled, “Sorry, I wasn’t intentionally eavesdropping, it was just a coincidence. Count me in, okay?”
It wasn’t surprising to be overheard with so many students around. Song Chunshi asked him, “What do you have in mind?”
Qiu Yuanming immediately became enthusiastic. He lowered his voice and said, “The training field has intelligent surveillance, using the SR-07 system. I can’t crack it for now, but I’ve made a jammer that can interfere with the surveillance for 15 seconds. If I improve it, I can extend the time.”
“You’re in the intelligent information major?” Song Chunshi asked.
Qiu Yuanming nodded, “Although I haven’t officially enrolled yet, don’t worry, my skills are still good.”
Song Chunshi didn’t doubt his abilities, she just thought, “15 seconds…”
They had just been dismissed, and the instructors definitely hadn’t gone to sleep yet. It would be best to act after half an hour. During this time, they couldn’t wander around outside, they had to return to the student dormitory, otherwise they would be discovered by the robots.
This meant that when they acted, they would have to start from the student dormitory and cross about 2500 meters to reach the instructor’s dormitory.
Even with light martial arts, she would need a minute.
She asked, “Can the jammer be used repeatedly?”
“It can, but it needs to be at least 30 seconds apart.”
Song Chunshi quickly planned the route in her mind. Although she couldn’t interfere with the surveillance the whole time, the surveillance also had blind spots. She could use the many equipment and obstacles in the training field to temporarily avoid them.
She nodded and asked again, “Did you make anything else?”
Since he had the idea of retaliating against the instructors, he shouldn’t have just made a jammer, right?
Qiu Yuanming scratched his head and smiled, as if he was embarrassed, “Hehe, there’s also a little thing that can amplify sound. You just need to whistle softly, and it can wake up all the instructors.”
That was enough. Song Chunshi looked at Alan, “Is there any way to remind everyone to sleep half an hour later?”
She was worried that it would be too loud later and wake up the students again. Waking up several times in one night would be a bit too cruel for the students.
Alan’s drowsiness was gone, replaced by the nervous and excited feeling of about to do something bad, “I know a lot of people, I can ask them to help!”
They had just been dismissed, and many people hadn’t returned to their dormitories yet. Alan’s slightly chubby body moved agilely through the crowd, stopping people from time to time and saying something.
The people who were stopped turned to look at Song Chunshi, and their faces also showed a look of joy. They spontaneously went to remind the next person.
In this way, one by one, within half an hour, all the students knew.
The dormitory building made up of capsule cabins was as quiet as usual, but a suppressed excitement was surging beneath the surface.
They had been oppressed by the instructors for so many days, and these young people had long been holding their breath. Now that someone had stepped forward, even if the others didn’t join in, they wouldn’t be stupid enough to go and snitch. Otherwise, they would have to be prepared to be ostracized by everyone.
In Song Chunshi’s capsule cabin, Qiu Yuanming brought over the two gadgets he had made and was teaching her how to use them.
As they were talking, he became a little worried, “The distance is too far, are you really not going to wait until I improve the jammer before acting?”
Although it might take a few days, it would be more reliable than tonight.
“It’s okay, I’ll try it first.” Song Chunshi said.
If they waited any longer, who knew how the instructors would torment them again? It was too passive, she felt uncomfortable if she didn’t fight back.
When the time was right, her figure blended into the night, almost invisible to the naked eye.
Alan and Qiu Yuanming were leaning out of the window, watching the scene outside.
“A distance of 2500 meters, even with an S-class physique, it would take at least 3 minutes. The jammer works for 15 seconds, and the interval is 30 seconds. That means, under ideal conditions, she needs 9 minutes to reach the instructor’s dormitory. The time is too long, there are too many variables, I think the success rate is very low.”
The more Qiu Yuanming calculated, the more he felt that tonight wasn’t a good time to act.
Alan’s tone was very firm, “It’s okay, Chunshi is so powerful, she can definitely do it!”
Qiu Yuanming glanced at him. This little fatty, although he didn’t have any outstanding performance in the training, also attracted a lot of attention. Because he followed Song Chunshi, he had eaten six days of star beast meat feast!
They, who could only eat nutrient solution, privately envied him, calling him the lucky fatty.
He had always been curious about how he managed to get on the big leg. He didn’t look very charming, could it be that he just relied on his flattering mouth?
The girl’s strength was undeniable, she was at the top level among this batch of students, but he couldn’t ignore the facts.
“I said, you—”
“Roar——!!!”
A heart-stopping beast roar suddenly echoed through the entire training field.
Only a few seconds later, in the direction of the instructor’s dormitory, seven or eight mechs suddenly rose into the air. The huge machines were like legendary demons, looking down from above, with a murderous aura, intimidating and powerful.
Qiu Yuanming was stunned, almost falling to the ground, “No, you, you guys are playing for real?!”
