“Have a daughter, a little princess. I will love her, and I will love you too. In the last life, it was my fault. I’m sorry, Chi Yao, I just realized that I actually like you.”
“It was my fault in the past, but now I’m sincere. And Chi Yao, you still like me, don’t you?”
“I don’t believe that in such a short time, you could fall for Fu Rong. Or did he force you? You didn’t willingly have that child, did you? Tell me, Chi Yao, tell me you still have feelings for me.”
Shen Ling had completely lost his mind. The gentle person that Chi Yao once liked was gone, replaced by this crazed man, someone unrecognizable.
“Shen Ling,” Chi Yao looked at him with pity and sympathy.
Shen Ling smiled, waiting for Chi Yao to nod and say he still loved him.
But instead, Chi Yao took something out of his pocket. Before Shen Ling could clearly see what it was, his body suddenly jolted.
It was a small electric shock, but because it was applied to Shen Ling’s abdomen, where there were no bones to protect him, the shock directly affected his internal organs. His body trembled, and his abdomen went numb.
His entire lower body felt paralyzed, unable to move.
Chi Yao shocked him twice, thinking once wasn’t enough.
Shen Ling staggered, almost falling over the railing and into the sea. His fingers trembled as he gripped the railing, utterly shocked.
“Maybe I should tell you… the things you dreamed of, I’ve dreamt of too.”
“You could also say, I’ve already lived through it.”
Shen Ling blinked, taking a long time to process what Chi Yao meant.
“…That explains it.” No wonder Chi Yao had changed so much recently, becoming a different person, no longer the love-struck man he once knew.
It turned out to be because… he had been reborn?
But rebirth—how could that be possible?
“Chi Yao, what kind of joke are you playing? How could someone come back from the dead? It’s all fake. My dreams were fake, and so are yours.”
It had to be fake—there was no way it could be real.
“The child… was a surrogate, wasn’t it? His mother must be beautiful; otherwise, he wouldn’t have such good genes.”
Shen Ling kept shaking his head, denying his own dreams, instantly dismissing them.
He also refused to believe that Chi Yao was the one who gave birth to the child.
“No, I gave birth to him,” Chi Yao admitted, fully confirming it.
Shen Ling froze, his face paling.
The next moment, he laughed again, his smile breaking.
“Don’t joke around. Even if you hate me, don’t joke about something like that. There’s no way the child is yours.”
How could that be?
Shen Ling refused to believe it.
He suddenly thought that maybe he was dreaming, imagining himself on the yacht, talking to Chi Yao.
If he jumped into the sea, would he wake up from this dream?
Shen Ling climbed up onto the railing. Chi Yao saw this, but he didn’t stop him, just watching as Shen Ling climbed up.
Someone behind them gasped, “Is he going to jump?”
Chi Yao didn’t look back. Fu Rong quickly walked over, standing protectively behind Chi Yao, his eyes fixed on Shen Ling in the distance.
Fu Rong looked at Shen Ling, thinking that their relationship was over—so why was Shen Ling driving himself into a dead end?
Fu Rong felt regret.
He used to admire Shen Ling, but now he just felt pity for him.
Shen Ling jumped into the sea with a splash, plunging into the deep waters.
The yacht moved forward for a while before stopping.
A lifeboat was lowered, and a few good swimmers went back to rescue Shen Ling.
Shen Ling didn’t struggle at all, letting his body sink into the water. When someone grabbed his hand, he resisted, refusing to be saved.
The first rescue team resurfaced, and two others went down. They tied a rope around Shen Ling’s body and dragged him up. When Shen Ling surfaced, he struggled violently, trying to jump back into the water. Someone hit him over the head, knocking him unconscious.
Blood dripped from the back of Shen Ling’s head, causing the rescuer to panic, thinking they had killed him. After confirming that Shen Ling was just unconscious, the rescuer sighed in relief.
Shen Ling was carried back onto the yacht and taken to a room in the back. His wet clothes were changed, as they couldn’t risk him getting sick. But fearing that Shen Ling would wake up and try to jump again, they tied him up and gagged him.
It wasn’t an option to turn back just for Shen Ling.
Fu Rong called Shen Ling’s older brother, who was in the northern city at the time. Surprised by the call, Fu Rong briefly explained that Shen Ling wasn’t acting right and advised him to bring a doctor.
Shen Ling’s brother, who doted on him, immediately made arrangements. But then he changed his mind and decided to come personally. He found another yacht, heading to the island Fu Rong had mentioned, bringing two doctors and some medical supplies.
After hanging up, Fu Rong told Chi Yao that someone was coming to pick up Shen Ling. Fu Rong looked into Chi Yao’s eyes, and after hearing what Shen Ling had said earlier, Fu Rong had a strong suspicion that Chi Yao was hiding more from him.
Chi Yao turned away to check on the baby. The little one was sleeping soundly, having played too much earlier and now in a deep sleep.
Chi Yao held the baby’s small hand. This turn of events was something he hadn’t expected.
Shen Ling had lost his sanity. At this rate, he might need to be hospitalized.
Though it was all because of him, Chi Yao didn’t feel responsible for it. What kind of setback had Shen Ling gone through?
Such a minor issue had driven him to madness. If Shen Ling had gone through what Chi Yao had experienced, he probably wouldn’t have stayed sane long ago.
Shen Ling’s current state has nothing to do with Chi Yao, and Chi Yao feels no psychological burden at all.
The yacht docked at the island. The last time they came here was over a year ago, when the island was empty, with only vegetation. Now, a resort had been built, and from the pier, one could catch a glimpse of the area inside. The island had been opened to the public, and tourists frequently visited, making it a great spot for vacations. It was warm in winter and cool in summer, making it an ideal location.
Chi Yao, the Baby, and Fu Rong disembarked, leaving two people on the yacht to wait for Shen Ling’s older brother to pick him up. The trio headed onto the island, settling at the resort. It was around noon, so they had lunch right away. After lunch, everyone went their separate ways, and Chi Yao took the baby to the amusement park.
There were already people playing in the amusement park. It had been built specifically for the Baby, though his child was still too young and could only watch for the most part. The Baby was curious about everything, and when he saw others playing, he babbled excitedly and clapped his hands. Chi Yao held him for a while before Fu Rong took over. The baby leaned forward in excitement, eager to join in the fun.
There were small cars the Baby could ride, and the manager of the amusement park personally came to greet Chi Yao, knowing he was the investor. The manager smiled brightly and immediately arranged for a small train ride. Chi Yao and his group boarded the train and toured the entire amusement park. The baby stared outside, his eyes wide open, not blinking. Chi Yao playfully covered the Baby’s eyes, and the Baby immediately grabbed his dad’s hand, trying to pull it away. Chi Yao laughed, his clear laughter ringing out.
