Chapter 13: Raising a Dog

Xie Jun and Kui Ming adopted a dog.

It was a young Alaskan Malamute, with a round head and a round body, very cute, though it didn’t seem particularly smart.

Every day, it would follow behind Kui Ming and Xie Jun, wagging its tail adorably. Not a single pair of slippers in the house remained intact.

“Shake hands.”

Xie Jun was teaching it to shake hands.

The Alaskan Malamute tilted its head, and its little tail wagged furiously.

“Shake hands.” Xie Jun picked up one of its paws and shook it, rewarding it with a dog biscuit.

He extended his hand again, “Shake hands.”

The Alaskan Malamute still only knew how to wag its tail and act cute.

Kui Ming sat cross-legged nearby, letting out a mocking laugh, “Dumb dog.”

Xie Jun picked up its paw again, shook it, and rewarded it with another dog biscuit.

“Shake hands.”

The Alaskan Malamute finally had a lightbulb moment, sticking out its tongue and extending a paw. Xie Jun, satisfied, patted its fluffy head. “Good boy.”

He rewarded it with a small biscuit.

Kui Ming tossed a biscuit into his own mouth. “Why do I feel like your method of teaching the dog seems a bit familiar?”

Xie Jun turned around, showing an ambiguous smile. “Is that so?”

“Oh, really?” Kui Ming stretched out his long arms, pulling Xie Jun into his embrace, then pointed at the innocent-looking Alaskan Malamute. “Tell me, who’s smarter between me and it, and who do you love more?”

Xie Jun retorted, “Neither of you are very smart.”
