Chapter 39
Chapter 39: Because she is kind
Xiaoyue Peak was completely different from Guzhu Peak.
It was surrounded by flowers and towering ancient trees.
Sang Nian’s eyes were almost red with envy.
The First Elder was still dealing with affairs and hadn’t returned, there were only Su Xueyin and Chu Yao here.
It was quiet and peaceful.
Su Xueyin tidied the room, washed a few juicy fruits, and greeted her:
“Come here, there’s something good to eat.”
“Coming, coming.” Sang Nian, who had been wandering around, came running in a flash.
Chu Yao only glanced at her faintly and said:
“I don’t have an appetite, I’ll go back to my room and rest.”
After saying that, she didn’t wait for them to speak, she pushed the door open and entered the room.
Sang Nian was still holding a jujube, intending to give it to her.
Her outstretched hand stopped in mid-air, she was very embarrassed.
Su Xueyin said dryly: “Give it to me.”
Sang Nian handed her the jujube: “What’s wrong with Chu Yao?”
Su Xueyin took small bites of the jujube, and mumbled:
“She might not be feeling well.”
Sang Nian worriedly said: “Is it serious? She looks very listless.”
“She’ll be fine after some rest.” Su Xueyin patted her shoulder, “I’ll go see her, you should rest early.”
Sang Nian: “Okay.”
After Su Xueyin left, she took the remaining fruits back to her room and closed and locked the door.
“Come out and eat.”
She poked the fat bird in her consciousness that was still sulking.
Liu Liu buried its head in its wings:
“No, I’m a bird with principles, I said I wouldn’t eat, I won’t eat.”
Sang Nian: “Okay, then I’ll eat by myself.”
Liu Liu fluttered out, snatched the fruit from her hand, and complained aggrievedly:
“You didn’t even comfort me.”
Sang Nian: “No comforting, I didn’t do anything wrong, why should I comfort you.”
Liu Liu pecked at the fruit, resentfully:
“You heartless woman, I’ll never forgive you!”
Sang Nian shrugged: “Suit yourself.”
She ignored the squawking Liu Liu, took out the bird egg she had kept in her storage bag, and sat down by the lamp to study it carefully.
This was the red-crested bird egg that Qie Zhi had given her last time, it hadn’t moved for days.
Xiao Zhuochen had said that the red-crested bird only recognizes the Zhuyu clan as its master, would this chick kill her after it hatched?
Or should she kill it before it was born?
She was unsure.
“But whether it can hatch successfully is another matter.” Sang Nian muttered, “It’s been frozen in the ten-thousand-year-old ice for five hundred years, it’s probably already frozen.”
Liu Liu had eaten and drunk its fill, it was walking on the table with its round belly.
Sang Nian’s head was in a mess, she couldn’t stand seeing it so comfortable, she deliberately teased it:
“Why don’t you try to hatch it?”
Liu Liu was extremely angry: “I’m male!!! I don’t hatch eggs!!”
Sang Nian flicked its little head: “Nonsense, there are a lot of male birds in the bird world that hatch eggs.”
Liu Liu puffed up its chest: “I don’t want to hatch eggs anyway.”
“Besides, this egg is already dead.”
It said disdainfully:
“There’s no sign of life in the egg, it’s just a hard rock now, it can only be used to hit someone in the back of the head.”
Hit someone in the back of the head?
Sang Nian’s eyes lit up, she threw the bird egg to it:
“This will be your weapon from now on.”
“If I’m in danger, you quietly sneak behind that person and hit them hard in the back of the head!”
Liu Liu hummed and hawed:
“I won’t save you, I’m a bird with principles.”
Sang Nian: “Unlimited fruit supply every day, plus two bags of five-spice melon seeds.”
Liu Liu: “Protecting the host is every system’s duty.”
One person and one bird happily high-fived:
“Deal.”
The Xiaoyao sect academy was located by Cuiwei Lake.
All disciples in the sect had to attend classes, regardless of inner or outer, until they passed the assessment and graduated.
True disciples of the elders were no exception.
Before dawn, Sang Nian sleepwalked out of bed.
She changed into the white sect uniform she received yesterday, she wandered like a ghost and knocked on Chu Yao and Su Xueyin’s door.
The door opened, Su Xueyin was bright and cheerful, Chu Yao was yawning, her irritability was visible.
On the way to the academy, Sang Nian silently cried in her heart.
Who would have thought that she, who couldn’t even tolerate an 8 am class, after all her efforts, finally lived a 5 am life.
Her future was truly bright.
Upon arriving at the academy, they stopped at the door.
New disciples had separate classes, Sang Nian was about to say goodbye, but Chu Yao had already left without saying a word.
Su Xueyin hurriedly went after her.
“She has such a bad temper in the morning.” Sang Nian scratched her head.
“What are you still doing here?” A young man passed by her and reminded her, “Class is about to start.”
Sang Nian’s face changed, she quickly thanked him and ran off.
She rushed all the way, finally arriving at the academy where the class was held before the bell rang.
Three of the new disciples became true disciples, the remaining four joined the inner sect, and three joined the outer sect.
There were only ten people in this class.
Sang Nian immediately saw Xie Chenzhou.
A girl was talking to him, her face full of smiles.
He… he had no expression.
Sang Nian sat down next to him, took a deep breath, and greeted them both:
“Good morning.”
Xie Chenzhou lifted his eyelids, as if in response.
The girl’s smile faded a little: “Good morning.”
Then she reached out:
“Shuangyue.”
Sang Nian shook her hand: “Sang Nian.”
Shuangyue asked Xie Chenzhou: “What about you?”
Sang Nian knew that he wouldn’t answer based on his dog-like temper, she was afraid she would be embarrassed, so she quickly said:
“He’s Xie Chenzhou.”
Shuangyue’s smile completely disappeared:
“I asked him, why did you answer for him?”
Sang Nian said sincerely: “Because I’m kind.”
Shuangyue: “…”
