This Vicious female finally revealed her true colors!
Ling’er had already been poisoned by the snake, and yet she still wanted to harm her. They should never have trusted her!
Long Yu and Long Zhong were furious and rushed forward to push Hu Jiao Jiao aside.
Hu Jiao Jiao frowned and sternly said, “If you don’t want me to save Ling’er, go ahead and stop me.”
The two cubs halted, their eyes filled with doubt as they stared at Hu Jiao Jiao.
Was she really trying to save Ling’er?
“If you’re saving Ling’er, why did you cut her arm? Such a big wound — even if the snake poison doesn’t kill her, she’ll bleed to death,” Long Yu questioned with a serious expression.
Long Zhong clenched his fists angrily and added, “If you hurt Ling’er, I’ll fight you to the death!”
Hu Jiao Jiao didn’t want to harm Long Ling’er either, but if the wound was too small, the poison wouldn’t be able to drain properly.
The longer the toxin remained in Long Ling’er’s body, the more damage it would do.
“I won’t let anything happen to Ling’er. I’m your mother,” Hu Jiao Jiao said with a firm yet gentle voice. Without further delay, she focused on helping Long Ling’er expel the poisonous blood.
Long Yu and Long Zhong tightly clenched their fists, staring intently at Hu Jiao Jiao’s every move.
After a while, the unconscious Long Ling’er coughed weakly and mumbled, “Mother, don’t hit me… it hurts…”
She was dreaming of the pain and thought she had gone back to the times when she used to be beaten.
Hu Jiao Jiao’s eyes flickered with pain, but inside, she breathed a sigh of relief. If Ling’er could still feel pain, it meant the venom hadn’t damaged her nerves, and the antidote was working.
She applied medicine to stop the bleeding on Long Ling’er’s wound. In a short time, the bleeding ceased.
Behind her, Long Yu and Long Zhong both exhaled in relief, staring at Hu Jiao Jiao in disbelief.
She actually knows how to treat snake venom!
They had seen tribe members bitten by venomous snakes before. Those who were bitten died soon after, and even the tribe’s healers were helpless. How did she know how to cure snake venom?
Hu Jiao Jiao carefully picked up Long Ling’er, then turned to the two stunned cubs behind her. “Let’s go. If we don’t hurry back, it’ll be dark soon.”
Although Ling’er’s life was no longer in danger, she still needed rest to fully recover.
Long Yu and Long Zhong snapped out of their daze, shaking off their questions, and quickly followed Hu Jiao Jiao.
By the time they returned to the tribe, night had already fallen.
Hu Jiao Jiao navigated the darkness and led the cubs home. After settling Long Ling’er down, she prepared a simple dinner.
Long Ling’er remained unconscious, and after eating, the family stayed by her side, watching over her.
During the night, the cubs eventually couldn’t stay awake and fell asleep beside the bed. Hu Jiao Jiao checked Long Ling’er’s temperature at intervals. When morning came and Long Ling’er was stable, Hu Jiao Jiao finally allowed herself to rest.
The next morning, Long Zhong groggily opened his eyes and saw his older brother, Long Yu, quietly sneaking out of the house.
He got up, about to speak, when Long Yu motioned for silence.
Long Zhong immediately understood, covering his mouth as they both stepped outside.
“Big Brother, why didn’t you let me speak?” Long Zhong asked with a puzzled expression once they were outside.
Long Yu gave him a stern look, his childish voice carrying an air of maturity, “She stayed up all night looking after Ling’er. Don’t wake her.”
“Big Brother, do you feel sorry for her?” Long Zhong blurted out.
In the next second, Long Yu’s eyes widened, and he cut him off, seriously defending himself, “I don’t feel sorry for her! I just don’t want her to overwork herself, or there’ll be no one to take care of Ling’er!”
With that, he didn’t give Long Zhong a chance to respond and turned to gather firewood. “Come help me. We need to cook.”
“Oh,” Long Zhong replied, not daring to argue with his older brother. He quickly followed to help.
Hu Jiao Jiao woke up to the smell of meat.
She glanced at the still-sleeping Long Ling’er and touched her forehead — her temperature was still normal. Hu Jiao Jiao then quietly got up.
Stepping outside, she saw Long Yu standing on a high rock, stirring something in a pot, while Long Zhong squatted by the stove, putting wood into the fire. His face was covered in soot as he puffed his cheeks, blowing hard to fan the flames.
However…
“Cough, cough! Third Brother, the fire’s too big! The pot’s about to burn through!” Long Yu was coughing from the smoke, his face flushed from the heat.
Long Zhong’s face scrunched up in frustration. “Big Brother, the fire isn’t listening to me!”
Hu Jiao Jiao couldn’t help but laugh. She walked over and patted Long Yu’s shoulder. “Let me take over.”
She took the firewood from Long Zhong and used tongs to pull out two of the burning logs. In no time, the fire had calmed down.
The meat in the pot, however, was already burnt, black as charcoal.
Long Yu and Long Zhong, seeing Hu Jiao Jiao suddenly appear, stiffened, their eyes wide in disbelief.
How did the fire obey her so easily?
Before they could figure it out, they noticed the burnt meat in the pot and their faces turned pale.
It’s over! We’ve burnt the meat! She’s definitely going to be mad.
Hu Jiao Jiao dusted off her hands and stood up, noticing the two cubs standing stiffly, their faces pale. She glanced at the pot and immediately understood.
Walking over to them, she slowly raised her hand.
Long Yu and Long Zhong instinctively shut their eyes, bracing themselves for punishment.
The next moment, instead of the expected blow, they felt a warm touch on their faces, accompanied by a gentle voice. “Your faces are all dirty like little cats. Go wash up. I’ll take care of the cooking.”
The two cubs froze in place.
“You… you’re not mad?” Long Zhong asked in disbelief.
“Why would I be mad?” Hu Jiao Jiao laughed, her eyes softening. “I know you wanted to help. But you’re still young. You can cook when you’re older.”
With that, she turned to clean the blackened pot, leaving the two cubs standing there, dumbfounded.
Once breakfast was ready, Long Ling’er had already woken up. Hu Jiao Jiao called the cubs to eat while she carried a bowl of porridge to feed Long Ling’er.
The cubs, worried about Long Ling’er, quickly finished their meal and rushed to her bedside.
Seeing Long Ling’er eat a whole bowl with a good appetite, they finally relaxed, reassured that she was going to be fine.
If a beastman were close to death, they wouldn’t be able to eat.
The fact that Ling’er could eat so much meant she was fine.
After breakfast, the cubs gathered around Long Ling’er, asking her what had happened the previous day.
Long Ling’er’s face was still pale, her voice soft and shaky. “I was following behind when suddenly, someone covered my head and knocked me out. When I woke up, I was tied up in a cave.”
“Lu Li tied me up and said he was going to let a venomous snake bite me. It was so dark, and I could hear lots of snakes slithering around, but I couldn’t move…”
Recalling the terrifying experience in the cave, Long Ling’er began to sob in fear.
“That bastard! That damned Lu Li! How dare he bully Ling’er like that! I’m going to kill him!” Long Zhong’s eyes turned red with rage, clenching his fists as he stormed towards the door, ready to confront Lu Li.
