After Breaking Off the Engagement, I Was Pampered By My Younger Uncle Chapter 94

Chapter 94: Guidance is Better than Suppression

The entire office fell into a dead silence. Even the secretaries in charge of this interview struggled to keep their expressions under control except for Assistant Qin, who remained as steady as ever. After all, he had witnessed Fu Huaizhou’s relentless pursuit of his wife firsthand, so it was no exaggeration to say he was the one using the child to elevate his position.

The reporter, incredulous, repeated the question again.

“Mr. Fu, are you saying that just as you were the first to pursue Miss Ruan, it was also you who took the initiative in getting married?”

Fu Huaizhou nodded slowly, “Yes, my wife wasn’t very satisfied with me at the start.”

The comments were already blowing up. Although Fu Huaizhou had made appearances before, they were usually pre-recorded meetings or candid shots by the media. It was the first time he had been interviewed up close like this.

His features were striking, and the icy frame of his glasses only enhanced his cold and aloof demeanor except when he spoke of his wife, a faint smile would inadvertently touch his lips, and his words were astonishingly candid.

“Man, you’re saying she’s not satisfied with that face and wealth? What does that mean for the rest of us?”

“I have to say, this is true love. The way he talks about his wife… it’s a whole different vibe.”

“I can’t imagine how beautiful their child will be with those two faces. Is there a quick witted director out there who can sign them up for a family reality show already?”

The reporter was drenched in sweat. He had expected the usual polite and scripted responses, but every answer Fu Huaizhou gave was more surprising than the last, with none of the airs of a multi-billionaire CEO.

“There’s been a lot of gossip in the entertainment world suggesting Miss Ruan has a difficult temperament and is a bit spoiled. As her husband, what do you think?”

Fu Huaizhou’s brow furrowed slightly, as if he didn’t quite understand the question.

“Is that so? Ruan Li is already gentle and composed in public. She’s even more relaxed and true to herself around people she’s close to. Whether she’s being free or a little spoiled, I don’t think those are bad things.”

“Do you have a different opinion?” the reporter pressed.

Fu Huaizhou rubbed the simple ring on his finger, his tone carrying a rare hint of laughter, “If she ever loses her temper, I would feel like I haven’t done enough to make her feel secure.”

The interview ended there, as Fu Huaizhou wasn’t a professional in front of the camera. Managing to squeeze in time for this interview amidst his busy schedule was already a significant effort. In all the years of the Fu Corporation’s strategic operations, it was rare to see him grant a direct interview.

“Who said CEOs are just cold-hearted and strict with their subordinates? This is clearly an ideal husband.”

“Can the heavens randomly send me a man like that?”

“Dream on! Ruan Li’s face alone can outshine the entire entertainment industry… And who said she’s difficult? People who have worked with her describe her as generous and easy to get along with.”

“Missed the point? From the interview alone, it’s obvious Fu’s affection for her goes far deeper than looks he loves every part of her, inside and out.”

Chen Jing watched the interview, stunned, and poked Ruan Li’s arm a few times. “Does your Mr. Fu usually talk this sweet?”

Though she had already seen how attentive Fu Huaizhou was in their everyday life granting her every request she always thought of men like him as the type to act more than they speak.

Ruan Li tilted her head, recalling how he usually spoke. In the beginning, he seemed to only talk sweetly in bed, but recently he had stopped holding back altogether.

“It’s not so bad. Actually, he’s holding back a little.”

When Ruan Li returned to Yuyuan Residence, Fu Huaizhou hadn’t yet come back from the office. She was so tired from the day that she didn’t even want to wiggle her toes. She leaned back against the headboard, reading a prenatal education book aloud.

Lucky, the cat, was trying to climb onto the bed. Initially, Fu Huaizhou had been worried about Ruan Li’s sensitivity during pregnancy and suggested sending Lucky to Shi Xun’s house for the time being. After all, Shi Xun had been pretty bored lately, and taking care of the cat would give him something to do keeping him too busy to compete for the baby later.

But Ruan Li had refused outright. She wasn’t so fragile that she couldn’t even keep a cat around. So, she let Lucky lounge on the bed, reading the prenatal book with her.

When Fu Huaizhou entered the bedroom after changing, this was the scene that greeted him.

Since the weather was getting warmer, Ruan Li wore only a simple nightdress. The room temperature was well regulated, so she didn’t have to worry about catching a chill.

“Your clothes are damp,” Fu Huaizhou said softly as he stood by the bed.

Ruan Li, hearing his voice, looked down and noticed a damp spot on the front of her nightdress. There was a faint milky scent. For a moment, she froze, not realizing what was happening to her body.

“I’m reading a serious book!” she quickly defended herself, clarifying that it wasn’t anything indecent that caused her reaction.

Fu Huaizhou sat down at the bedside and calmly reassured her, “It’s normal.”

Given how far along she was, such changes in her body were expected.

Ruan Li felt embarrassed. No wonder she had felt a bit full in her chest when she returned earlier. She had thought it was just another round of pregnancy induced growth. But it was a different kind of development.

Her face blushed a deep red, and she pulled the covers over her body while ordering the man beside her, “What are you staring at? Go get me another nightdress.”

Fu Huaizhou exhaled deeply and started rummaging through the wardrobe. There were so many options, in all sorts of styles, that he pulled out one similar to what she was wearing.

“Need help changing?”

Ruan Li eyed him warily, snatching the nightdress and turning her back, “I don’t need you.”

Fu Huaizhou watched her bare back as she changed, the elegant curve of her shoulder blades catching the light. His voice turned teasing, “Who was it last night, begging me for help?”

Ruan Li finished changing, her eyes flashing with indignation, “The book says it’s… a normal need for pregnant women.”

Fu Huaizhou sat back on the bed, his gaze lingering on her graceful collarbone and the fullness beneath it. The faint, sweet scent of milk still hung in the air.

“Lychee, have you ever heard of ‘guidance is better than suppression’?”

“What do you mean?” She followed his gaze to her own nightdress, her blush deepening, “You… the baby’s not even born yet. How am I supposed to ‘guide’?”

The man’s low chuckle made it clear he had been waiting for this. He pulled her gently into his arms, his breath warm on her skin.

“If he’s not ready yet,” Fu Huaizhou murmured, leaning closer, “then let his dad take the responsibility for now.”
