Limited Marriage Contract
Limited Marriage Contract Chapter 11.2

The harsh winter had just passed, and a new wave of cold air swept into the city. The sycamore branches lining the road, stripped of their leaves, swayed in the chilly wind, creating a desolate atmosphere.

The advantage of living in an old neighborhood was the well-developed surroundings and proximity to a university, which offered plenty of food options. Unfortunately, with winter break and the upcoming New Year, very few shops were open on the street.

Wrapped in her down jacket, Wen Yi regretted her decision to come out. What a pitiful sight—a newlywed pregnant woman going out alone to find food, while her indifferent husband lounged comfortably at home.

She turned into the nearby supermarket, planning to buy a few things and hurry back.

Toothpaste, toothbrush, towels, water cups, and washcloths… She figured he might have shower gel and shampoo, but she was afraid she wouldn’t be used to them, so she bought her usual brands instead.

As she strolled through the store, she reached the snack aisle. Wen Yi recalled that there were no snacks in his house, and it seemed so boring to be at home without any snacks during the long holiday. Before she knew it, her shopping cart was already full.

After leaving the snack section, she stopped in the New Year goods area. Although she planned to spend the holiday at his parents’ house, she thought their home needed some festive decorations, so she casually picked up some window stickers and small lanterns, along with a couplet.

Finally, she arrived at the fresh and cooked food section. Wen Yi looked at the various roasted dishes displayed in the steamer and swallowed her saliva unashamedly.

Qin Nanshan said he would cook at home. Surely he’d prepare a meal for her too, right? He couldn’t be that stingy, could he?

Whatever, she decided to buy a bit; if he didn’t make anything, she would eat it herself, and if he did, it would just be an extra meal.

After checking out, she had two large bags filled with groceries. As a pregnant woman, she could hardly carry them, especially since she hadn’t driven there. Fortunately, modern life was convenient, and the supermarket offered delivery, free within three kilometers.

After shopping, Wen Yi went down to the first floor of the mall and happily bought herself a cup of hot milk tea, taking her time to stroll home, feeling relaxed.

The supermarket was only two to three hundred meters from her home, and as she returned, the community seemed livelier than before. In the little pavilion, the property management was decorating the neighborhood, and a group of children were playing around, each holding a small red lantern.

This place had a higher occupancy rate than Yuting Mansion, filled with the warmth of everyday life.

However, just a few steps in, she unexpectedly bumped into a man walking his dog. Wen Yi instinctively took a step back, her body tense as she shouted, “Don’t come over!”

Summer let out a whimper, looking hurt.

Both the man and the dog stared at her, seemingly eyeing the milk tea in her hand with intense interest. Wen Yi reluctantly extended the cup, saying to Qin Nanshan, “I didn’t buy this for you. If you want to drink, you can have mine.”

Qin Nanshan chuckled, “I’m not drinking it. Have you eaten?”

“No…”

“What about the things you bought?”

“They’re being delivered; they haven’t arrived yet.”

“Okay, you go upstairs first. I’ll take Summer for a walk for a bit longer.”

Wen Yi remained on guard, staying five steps away from them. “You go back; don’t come this way.”

Qin Nanshan tugged on the leash, and Summer obediently turned to follow him. Once they had a safe distance between them, Wen Yi let out a long breath and quickly ran into the building.

Standing at the door again, Wen Yi was puzzled. His home had an electronic lock, and she didn’t have the password.

She had to call him for it, and he provided the code: “123456.”

Wen Yi exclaimed, “It’s easy for thieves to get in like this!”

He asked her to change it, and after hanging up, Wen Yi spent some time online figuring out how to change the password. Hesitating for a few moments while entering the new password, she ultimately decided to choose one that was memorable for both of them and sent it to him.

When Qin Nanshan got home, he instinctively entered “123456” but remembered too late that Wen Yi had changed the password. The new password was “221107.”

His memory was good; that date wasn’t their wedding day or the day they got their marriage certificate; it was the day they had met again—on the day of the winter solstice.

Once inside, the living room was empty. Qin Nanshan settled Summer in and went to the kitchen.

The soup he had left simmering before he left was now on a low flame, ready for adjustments.

Someone rang the doorbell, and when Qin Nanshan opened the door, he was taken aback by the two bags overflowing with items. Had she bought too much?

Wen Yi heard the noise and came out. “Did you arrive so quickly?”

She started organizing, handing him the two boxes of prepared food she bought and asking him to heat them up. She then tucked her snacks into the empty space under the coffee table, but there wasn’t enough room, so she had to stack some on top.

Next were the daily necessities. She took the toothbrush and towel to the bathroom, with Qin Nanshan following her. When he saw what was in her hands, he said, “I bought these for you.”

Having never been in this bathroom before, Wen Yi noticed the new toothbrush on the sink and the towel beside it with its tag still on. She smiled awkwardly and said, “I didn’t see them before. It’s fine; an extra set is for guests.”

Qin Nanshan didn’t say anything and simply said, “Let’s eat.”

Before she could finish organizing, Wen Yi took out the red lanterns, window decorations, and couplets. “I bought these on a whim. Before we go to your parents’ house for the New Year, let’s find a time to decorate. It’ll add some festive spirit. I also got a set for my mom. I’ll take it home for her in a couple of days.”

Qin Nanshan stared at the items that hadn’t been in the house since Xuan Ying and Qin Heng moved out, lost in thought.

When Wen Yi sat down at the dining table, she exclaimed, “Did you make this soup?”

Qin Nanshan’s gaze shifted from the couplets and lanterns she had messed up to sit across from her. “Yeah, try it. It’s chicken soup; I skimmed off the grease, so it’s not oily.”

Wen Yi was aware of his previous morning sickness. “I’m not throwing up anymore, and it doesn’t have to be too bland.”

“Okay.”

After a busy day of moving, organizing, and shopping, Wen Yi’s appetite was great. She finished two small bowls of rice first, set down her chopsticks, and stared at the man across from her, who was eating slowly.

Qin Nanshan felt uncomfortable under her gaze. When he looked up, he met her sparkling eyes, which seemed to urge him to eat faster so she could wash the dishes.

He helplessly said, “I’ll wash the dishes.”

“That doesn’t seem right.” Wen Yi then noticed something. “Why are you eating with your left hand?”

She couldn’t remember clearly, but since they met, they had shared many meals together, and if she wasn’t mistaken, he had always used his right hand, including at her home and during their engagement banquet.

Qin Nanshan glanced at his left hand and explained casually, “I can use both hands.”

Wen Yi, being perceptive, couldn’t help but speculate, “Right hand when eating with others, left hand when eating alone?”

He paused for a moment and nodded.
