Release the Female Lead Ch. 533

Chapter 533: Special Counseling 1

Ye Wenxin would forever remain unaware of that matter. The night had yet to end, so she decided to find the way to the library. Although she had dealt with Wen Susu and could see the library ahead, it felt so distant that it might as well be beyond the horizon.

Another day ended unproductively, without her finding the academy’s most mysterious library. Coupled with the exhausting confrontation with Wen Susu, this left her sleeping in the next day.

Even worse, the kitsune conducted a surprise quiz to gauge the students’ grasp of the material. Ye Wenxin stared at the dense text before her, feeling overwhelmed. While she recognized the words, the concepts they conveyed eluded her.

She barely managed to write a few lines before looking towards Fairy Fengya, expecting sympathy from someone who should be sharing the same plight. However, when she glanced back, Fairy Fengya had already filled her paper with a flurry of writing.

Ye Wenxin should’ve foreseen this inevitable outcome.

Comparing herself to a genius would do nothing but frustrate her, Ye Wenxin thought with a sigh. Suddenly, she heard someone knocking on her desk. Ye Wenxin looked up in confusion at the kitsune.

She had a stern expression, evidently unhappy with Ye Wenxin’s daydreaming.

Reluctantly, Ye Wenxin turned her attention back to the quiz. Unlike the tests back on Earth, this one consisted entirely of short-answer questions. After some thought, she summoned Sword Ghost to peek at other people’s answers.

To her shock, Sword Ghost could only understand texts from a thousand years ago, and the furballs couldn’t even speak to assist. Thus, Ye Wenxin had to piece together fragments of history from Celestial Master Zhong’s memories.

Yet, Celestial Master Zhong’s mind was like mush. He only knew how to kick supernatural ass and level up, none of which served any use to her right now.

Ye Wenxin realized she needed to venture into secret realms to find a genuine memory inheritance to fill this shortfall. But with time piling up, she suddenly felt drained. Staring at the quiz, she steeled herself and continued writing.

When the bell signaling the end of class rang, the kitsune began collecting the answer sheets. Amidst the students’ varied expressions, only the kitsune was smiling. “Students who didn’t perform well need to stay for tutoring.”

The students gasped in surprise but didn’t seem afraid. Instead, they appeared eager to stay behind for tutoring and regretted their perfect answers.

“If I had known, I wouldn’t have written anything and get the tutoring.”

“Same here! I can’t believe the teacher pulled this on us.”

After class, the students gathered to discuss the situation animatedly.

“But did you guys know? Our class is the only one that had a quiz.”

“That’s normal. If too many students fail, the teacher will have too much on her hands.” Another student replied, looking dejected. They regretted losing the opportunity to spend time with their favorite teacher.

However, another student continued with a mysterious expression, “I don’t think that’s it. The teacher has been looking at me a lot during class lately. After Mr. Mo’s departure, she must intend to cultivate me as her future husband.”

Ye Wenxin laughed at the boy’s conviction.

This average-looking boy wouldn’t stand a chance against the kitsune. Her Loner’s Curse would claim his life. Yet, considering everyone here was a ghost, Ye Wenxin could care less. Chuckling, she waited for the results after class…

“Only Ye Xiaowen failed.” Reality struck Ye Wenxin like a series of hard slaps to the face. The questions might not have been challenging for her classmates and Great Grandma, but to her, they were more arduous than reaching the heavens.

She had barely scribbled a few notes when she heard the kitsune’s resigned sigh.

“Cai Juecheng? And who is Ye Lan?”

Unable to recall any names, Ye Wenxin resorted to substituting random names she could remember. She could only laugh awkwardly as she watched the kitsune let out another sigh before speaking, “Ye Xiaowen, starting today, after every class, you’ll have to stay behind with me.”

The kitsune put on an austere expression. The other students around them looked on with envy, jealousy, and resentment. Ye Wenxin, however, appeared miserable, feeling her already limited free time about to be stripped away.

She considered maybe she could ignore the kitsune and head straight to her room after class.

If she could hold out until nightfall, the kitsune wouldn’t be able to do anything. A detailed plan began to form in Ye Wenxin’s mind.

She waited for class to end, ready to dash back to the dormitory and avoid any contact with the kitsune. However, the kitsune stood there when she stepped out, smiling coldly.

Ye Wenxin immediately turned and ran. Her petite 1.5-meter frame allowed her to dart away swiftly. However, given she was a demon, the kitsune effortlessly caught Ye Wenxin and scooped her up into a princess carry. Knowing struggling was futile, Ye Wenxin resigned herself to staying still. But as she did, she suddenly noticed a change in the kitsune’s scent.

“Did you change your perfume, Miss?”

Previously, the kitsune carried a distinct floral fragrance, but this scent was refined and lovely. Ye Wenxin couldn’t figure out what it was.

“You could tell? You’re the first person to notice I’ve changed my fragrance.” The kitsune looked amazed. She smiled at Ye Wenxin, genuinely pleased that she noticed the subtle difference.

Ye Wenxin smiled back. “Anyway, you’re gorgeous, Miss.”

Playing along, Ye Wenxin didn’t forget to compliment the kitsune. She hoped her flattery might change the teacher’s mind. The reaction she got was more than Ye Wenxin had anticipated.

The kitsune’s eyes sparkled, like a pet looking at its owner for praise. If her ears and tails were present, they would add to the vivid image.

“Miss, I think I can study on my own, so maybe we could skip the tutoring? Or, how about just once a year?” Ye Wenxin pushed the advantage. But the kitsune’s joyful expression instantly vanished. She firmly rejected the idea, “Absolutely not. You’re already far behind in your studies. If this keeps up, you won’t be able to graduate. Just look at Ye Xiaofeng…”

Ye Wenxin couldn’t take this familiar teacher talk and countered, “But she’s a genius.”

“And because you’re not, you must work hard. Come on. Let’s go eat before we start the tutoring.”

Hearing the kitsune’s stern reply, Ye Wenxin could only sigh inwardly. The kitsune grabbed her hand and led her to the dining hall like a small child.
