Chapter 115: Dad, It’s Your Turn to Feed Me
Fu Huaizhou heard the angry shouting over the phone and responded with a faint smile.
“Daddy, was that Brother?” Sitting on the sofa, Lingying looked up and asked.
“Close enough, it’s your Little Uncle,” Fu Huaizhou explained to her. This was already the third call of the morning, each time from Shixun. Every time he went out, it was the same story yet he would still return to YuYuan to fish with Fu Chengjing.
After all, right now, the only person in the two families who had both the time and the interest to accompany him in such a dull pastime was Fu Chengjing.
“Are you hungry?” After working all morning, Fu Huaizhou looked over at his daughter, who had been playing quietly by herself on the sofa for a while. He was reminded of how Fu Chengjing used to climb and jump around his office. But as soon as anyone came in, he would put on a serious, dignified young gentleman’s demeanor, which always made Fu Huaizhou chuckle.
His daughter, however, was much more well-behaved, he thought as he stood up.
“Mm.” Lingying nodded softly, and as soon as she opened her arms, she was picked up by Fu Huaizhou, who carried her to the lounge. It was always stocked with items for children.
He sat in his office chair, and the little girl on his lap was happily sipping from a bottle, occasionally making a few hums of contentment as she drank.
Hearing this, Fu Huaizhou chuckled softly.
“Confirmed He’s a classic doting dad!”
“I have to admit, at first I thought Fu was just another spoiled rich guy, but he’s genuinely a great father.”
Of course, not all comments were so positive.
“Isn’t Ruan Li being a bit irresponsible as a mother? She doesn’t seem to be looking after either of the kids.”
“That’s ridiculous. She risked her life having those children. What’s wrong with letting the uncle and father help take care of them? Some of you who keep talking about being ‘dutiful’ are probably just keyboard warriors with nothing better to do.”
“Let’s keep it civil. Our Li fans are known for their manners.”
“Our manners If you don’t follow our rules, we’ll punch you in the face.”
After a round of verbal sparring in the comments, the conversation calmed down, and the commentary’s chaos didn’t affect those on screen.
“Lingying, do you want to change locations?” Fu Huaizhou asked the little girl on his lap.
Lingying obediently nodded.
Ten minutes later, in the largest conference room of the Fu Corporation the room reserved for the most critical meetings the man in the lead seat was as stern as ever.
Those standing to report were nervous and trembling as they presented, one after another.
The only thing that seemed out of place was the little girl sitting on the man’s lap. Bored and not understanding the discussions, she quietly munched on a packet of small cookies.
The way she ate was delicate, nibbling bit by bit.
Since it was a routine report and not a confidential strategy or bidding session, the live broadcast team was allowed to continue filming.
“Poor employees, I feel like I’m watching myself when I have to give a report.”
“Don’t feel too sorry they probably make ten times what we do. They’re not like us with our meager monthly salaries.”
“’My CEO Dad Takes Me to Meetings’that’s my dream tonight.”
Compared to the light-hearted banter in the comments, the atmosphere in the conference room was intense. When one presenter began, his half-finished PowerPoint showed data that was outdated and incomplete.
The man in the lead seat, who had been frowning throughout, finally erupted.
“This is your report?” Fu Huaizhou glared at the person this was beyond a matter of standards it was a blatant display of indifference towards the job.
“You’re clearly unfit for this position. Assistant Qin, handle his resignation procedures.”
The person was escorted out, and the report documents were laid out on the conference table. Even with the dozens of documents he reviewed daily, Fu Huaizhou could immediately tell that these figures hadn’t been updated simply thrown together to fool him.
With a loud “slap,” the file hit the table.
His expression was one of fury, his aura menacing. “If anyone else submits a report like this, they’ll face the same consequences.”
The room fell silent, and the usually sharp management team was too stunned to speak. Being fired from the Fu Corporation without dignity would be a nightmare for any future job references.
The next person to present was visibly shaking he had only recently been promoted, and this was his first report. Unfortunately, he had stepped right into the line of fire.
His voice quivered as he barely managed to finish. The man’s expression remained stern.
A few seconds of silence passed, and no one dared speak.
Suddenly, a soft, childish voice broke the tension.
“Daddy, feed you.”
Everyone looked up in surprise.
Fu Huaizhou glanced down at the little girl on his lap. She was holding up a bunny shaped cookie toward him, her eyes shining with anticipation.
“Thank you, Lingying.” His tone softened instantly.
Under the astonished gaze of the room, Fu Huaizhou leaned down and took a bite of the cookie, gently pinching his daughter’s cheek with two fingers.
Holding something in his mouth made it impossible for him to speak, a detail that the trembling manager silently noted as the reason he narrowly avoided a reprimand.
“Daddy, it’s your turn to feed me” Lingying seemed to have grown bored with the meeting and began fidgeting on her father’s lap. Sometimes she played with the shiny cufflinks on his sleeves, and other times she toyed with the pen on his desk.
“Okay.” Fu Huaizhou, still listening to the report, held up a cookie to his daughter, who nibbled at it with small bites.
The meeting continued until it was over. People filed out of the room, many with slight beads of sweat on their foreheads, whispering in the office corridors.
“Fu’s still Fu the gentleness is just a façade.”
“Before I walked in, I was watching the live stream and thought Fu was in a good mood recently. But we still got scolded.”
Only the manager who had narrowly escaped punishment quietly pulled up a saved photo from the company chat and murmured, “Thank you, Princess of the Fu Family.”
Finally, the barrage of comments seemed to ease. “I have to admit, Fu’s meeting style is intense. I hardly dared to breathe just now.”
“If only we’d known how effective Lingying’s words were, we should’ve let the princess sit at the head of the table for future meetings.”
“Am I the only one who noticed that the photo that employee pulled out looks a lot like the wallpaper Ruan Li has? I really want that picture!”
“Me too!”
Back in the CEO’s office, Fu Huaizhou carried Lingying back inside, calling for a quarterly report to be brought in.
There was a knock at the door. When he said “come in,” someone approached his desk, and without looking up, he picked up the report and started flipping through it.
It wasn’t until he caught a familiar scent the fragrance of Ruan Li’s perfume that he looked up with a teasing smile, ready to make a joke.
But instead, he saw an unfamiliar woman’s face, wearing a slightly ingratiating smile, though undeniably carrying Ruan Li’s familiar scent.
Fu Huaizhou’s expression darkened instantly.
