The Forbidden City’s Sweetest Secret
The Forbidden City’s Sweetest Secret Chapter 2

Chapter 2 Do you dare to ask me for help without knowing me?

In the early morning, at the Luqiu Mingdu.

Gradually regaining consciousness, Jiang Wansheng suddenly opened her eyes.

All she could see was pitch black. She sat up abruptly from the bed, and after her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she looked around. It was a completely unfamiliar bedroom. The curtains were tightly closed, but she could vaguely tell it was still nighttime.

In the last moment of losing consciousness, all she knew was that Zheng Wen was nearby, looking for her with an angry expression, and she seemed to have seen someone she was somewhat familiar with, but then she couldn’t remember anything else.

She got off the bed to check herself, feeling a bit weak in her limbs but otherwise fine. She breathed a brief sigh of relief.

Where was she?

And who was the person who brought her here?

Questions swirled in her mind, the terrifying silence around her.

She walked towards the door in the dark, cautiously grasping the doorknob. Just as she opened it a crack, she heard distinct footsteps in the silent environment.

Her eyelashes trembled, her delicate fingers unconsciously tightened around the doorknob, trying to quietly close the door.

“Click—”

She was too nervous, and the doorknob made a sound.

The footsteps seemed to pause for a moment, then started coming closer in that direction.

“Thud, thud—”

Jiang Wansheng hid behind the door, her body stiff.

She pursed her lips and tentatively asked in a soft voice, “Who are you?”

There was a moment of silence outside the door, then a cold and indifferent voice sounded, “You don’t know me, yet you dare to ask me for help?”

In the night, a chill was added to the air.

A flash of realization crossed Jiang Wansheng’s mind, and she quickly opened the door.

Moonlight shone through the window onto the corridor, casting a faint silver light on the tall and rugged man outside the door.

She looked up, the interplay of light and shadow revealing the man’s half-concealed features. His superior brow, high nose bridge, and sharp facial features gave him a cold and three-dimensional appearance. His pitch-black eyes were calm and indifferent, his eyelids half-closed, and as he looked down at her, there was a casual coldness in his gaze.

The soft silver-gray home clothes draped over his body, revealing the contours of his smooth muscles, and his cold white skin exuded a subtle hint of desire.

She stood barefoot in the room, somewhat hesitantly calling out, “…Uncle.”

The man casually played with the snake head ring on his right hand, and in the darkness, there was a mysterious and provocative allure about him.

He suddenly took a step, bringing the two of them closer.

Jiang Wansheng’s eyes, like a pool of clear water, looked around in confusion, like a startled deer.

The cold sandalwood scent emanating from the man suddenly invaded her senses, and as she watched, his well-defined knuckles lifted.

“Snap—”

Jiang Wansheng instinctively squinted her eyes to adjust to the sudden brightness.

“Why didn’t you turn on the lights if you’re scared?” he said, stepping back, the oppressive atmosphere instantly easing slightly.

Jiang Wansheng silently breathed a sigh of relief.

This uncle from the Qin family was truly terrifying. Every time she saw him before, she felt constrained and uneasy. Last night, she had acted on instinct, feeling that this person seemed familiar, and luckily, the uncle probably intervened out of consideration for her friend Qin Weizhao.

“…I just woke up and haven’t fully processed everything yet.”

Qin Mo looked down at the petite girl in front of him, just waking up, her hair slightly disheveled.

With a full forehead, curved eyebrows, and eyes like a pool of clear water, her skin was translucently white, like the bright moonlight flowing through a misty forest, stunning at first sight.

Standing barefoot on the floor, her toes were fair and tender, now slightly curled in nervousness, both pure and enticing.

Qin Mo made a sound of acknowledgment, lazily asking, “Are you in trouble?”

Jiang Wansheng clasped her hands behind her back, feeling uneasy facing an elder, and replied politely, “It’s nothing serious, I can handle it.”

As the words fell, Qin Mo remained silent for a moment, as if waiting for her to ask a question.

However, Jiang Wansheng felt uncomfortable at the moment. She had just woken up and her mind was still fuzzy. She was filled with doubts but didn’t know where to start asking.

Perhaps realizing the girl’s unease, he straightforwardly said, “This is my private residence, Luqiu Mingdu. You were brought here suddenly. The family doctor has examined you; you were given a small amount of sleeping pills, so there’s nothing serious.”

She felt grateful, not expecting her uncle to arrange for a doctor for her.

Probably because of Qin Weizhao’s face.

“And that man who was pursuing you, my people have already taken care of him,” his tone remained as calm as ever.

Jiang Wansheng raised her eyes in astonishment, her watery gaze fixed directly into the man’s deep pupils, “Taken care of?”

Although she had heard that Third Master Qin was ruthless and merciless, hearing him speak so cruelly in such a casual tone still surprised her.

Qin Mo realized her misunderstanding and, seeing the fear in her eyes, chuckled, “He’s not dead, what’s there to be afraid of?”

Seeing the playfulness in his dark eyes, Jiang Wansheng quickly lowered her gaze, avoiding his eyes, “…Thank you, Uncle.”

Qin Mo stared at the girl’s tousled hair.

She was indeed still a child, not easily frightened.

“Well, go back to sleep. If you want to freshen up, there are disposable toiletries in the bathroom.”

Without waiting for her response, Qin Mo left.

He had just finished dealing with some matters and was going downstairs for a drink of water when he saw the girl’s door slightly ajar.

He walked over and found her so frightened and uneasy, so he stayed a while to explain things to her.

He was usually reserved, and if it weren’t for being Qin Weizhao’s friend and the girl looking so pitifully unsteady, he probably wouldn’t have intervened in such a rescue.

Jiang Wansheng knew it was Qin Mo’s house, and she felt relieved, lying back on the bed and sinking into a deep sleep.

When she woke up again, the window was bright, and the fragmented sunlight streamed in through the window, carrying a warm feeling in the air.

After freshening up and straightening her slightly wrinkled clothes, she put on yesterday’s shoes and went downstairs.

Not having seen Qin Mo, a middle-aged woman came out of the kitchen. Seeing her, she smiled warmly, “Miss Jiang, right?” She walked up to Jiang Wansheng affectionately, leading her to the dining table, “I’m the aunt responsible for Mr. Mo’s meals. You can call me Aunt Wang. Mr. Mo instructed me to prepare breakfast for you before he left, so please eat as soon as you wake up.”

Aunt Wang looked Jiang Wansheng up and down, fair and beautiful, with bright eyes and white teeth, truly a rare beauty, perfectly matching their master.

Jiang Wansheng was pleasantly surprised and quickly explained, fearing Aunt Wang might misunderstand, “Hello, Aunt Wang, I’m Jiang Wansheng. You can call me Wansheng. I’m a friend of Weizhao. I had a little trouble yesterday and troubled Uncle Mo. Please don’t misunderstand.”

After listening, Aunt Wang nodded somewhat disappointedly but still smiled, “I see, no misunderstandings. Sit down and have your meal. I don’t know what you like, so I made a bit of everything.”

Aunt Wang led Jiang Wansheng to a chair, her green floral dress cinched at the waist, accentuating her curves as she sat down, slender and elegant, her perfect waist and hip ratio particularly eye-catching.

Her posture was graceful, her back straight. The square neckline revealed clear, fair skin and delicate collarbones, her exquisite features radiant. Sitting in this black-and-white minimalist home style, she looked like a forest nymph lost in the wilderness.

Aunt Wang watched as the girl ate delicately, unable to help but sigh.

Ah… if only she were their mistress.

The master was cold and indifferent, nearing thirty and still without a woman by his side. The old master of the Qin family was getting anxious.

These two, with their outstanding looks and talents, were truly a perfect match…

Aunt Wang sighed as she tidied up, feeling more and more regretful as she thought about it.
