Chapter 29 She Really Didn’t Want to See Qin Mo at This Time.
In the following days, Jiang Wansheng did not see Qin Mo.
The closeness they had just established reverted back to square one due to a trivial matter.
Qin Mo did not contact her again; he seemed to have completely disappeared from her life.
Ironically, these days, she would secretly hope during meal times that he might come over to have a meal with her. Yet,
he never did.
She occasionally saw him only on social media, either regarding the new developments in the Qin Group or the unique insights and iron-fisted methods of this young CEO.
Praises and admiration were endless; in her eyes, Qin Mo had turned into the Third Master of the Qin family in Beijing.
Unapproachable, beyond reach.
Was she feeling lost? Yes, she was. The sudden departure of the uncle who told her “it’s okay to cry when you feel wronged” and “you deserve love” caught her off guard, leaving her unprepared.
The cause was unknown, everything had developed to this point unclearly.
Fortunately, she had grown accustomed to the important people in her life silently leaving; she quickly buried the sadness and heaviness in her heart and continued preparing for the live stream.
The preliminary preparations were proceeding vigorously, and the live streaming platform they were collaborating with was cooperative and surprisingly willing to invest money. Everything progressed much smoother than expected.
One day, a group announcement was made in the chat.
Li Kai, the person in charge of “Haiying Live”: 【Hello, everyone! This Saturday, our platform will be having a team-building activity with the headquarters at the “Oxygen Plus” resort. Our platform has a small number of people, does anyone want to join? Accommodation and meals are all covered~~】
Li Kai also sent a PDF document, outlining the main arrangements for the three-day, two-night team-building activity.
Ling Nan and the team’s other leader, Senior Sister Cui Ziwan, asked for everyone’s opinions in the small group; the team consisted of ten people.
“Oxygen Plus” was a well-known resort famous for its “green oxygen” and was under the Qin family’s umbrella. Located in the western suburbs of the city, away from the city center, it was a place for relaxation and unwinding.
Everyone unanimously agreed upon the location being at “Oxygen Plus” and with all expenses covered. They couldn’t afford such a high-end resort, so it would be foolish not to seize this opportunity.
Everyone filled out the form, and when Jiang Wansheng saw that it was under the Qin family’s umbrella, she felt a moment of unease, but then thought she was being too sensitive. In a city as big as Beijing, how could they possibly cross paths?
Moreover, it was a team-building event between “Haiying” and the headquarters, completely unrelated to Qin Mo.
She also felt a bit uncomfortable staying here, so she decided it would be better to go out and relax. With that in mind, she filled out the form.
When it was finalized, she briefly considered whether to inform Qin Mo, but in the end, she only told Mrs. Wen Sao, as the chances of Qin Mo returning were indeed slim.
—
Saturday.
The scorching sun of July blazed hot.
Jiang Wansheng pulled a small suitcase, wearing a wide-brimmed sun hat for shade, the broad brim covering her delicate, jade-like face, her watery clear eyes hidden in the shadows, her straight nose and rosy lips exposed.
Flawless white.
When Ling Nan arrived at the entrance of the “Haiying” building, he saw this scene. She was afraid of the heat, wearing a light yellow strap dress, her snow-white skin truly eye-catching.
His throat bobbed, he strode over with the suitcase, greeted everyone, then his gaze fell on Jiang Wansheng, “Wansheng?”
Unconsciously, he was reluctant to address her as a junior again, tentatively calling her by this title.
As the watery eyes hidden under the wide brim met his gaze when the girl looked up, the line between light and shadow shifted, and the sunlight caught her jade-like chin.
His heart trembled suddenly, amidst the bustling voices around, but none could match the “thump thump” of his heartbeat at this moment.
Jiang Wansheng felt a bit wilted from the sun, her thoughts scattered, just wanting the bus to arrive quickly.
In her distracted state, she suddenly heard her name, subconsciously looked up and responded, then locked eyes with Ling Nan, who now had a somewhat intense gaze, “What’s wrong?”
Ling Nan cleared his throat lightly, “Nothing.”
She was a bit puzzled but didn’t delve deeper, standing in place silently waiting.
Ling Nan awkwardly turned around, pulling the suitcase and standing next to Jiang Wansheng, waiting for everyone to gather.
Beside him, Shi Chengwen, a close friend of Ling Nan, poked his arm. When Ling Nan turned around, Shi Chengwen lowered his voice, smiling suggestively, “Don’t worry, everything is arranged, we’re just waiting for you to take action.”
Ling Nan touched his nose and replied in a low voice, “Thank you.”
…
Before long, everyone had gathered, and the bus arrived on time at the entrance. They stored their luggage and boarded the bus together.
For some reason, when Jiang Wansheng boarded the bus, there was only a seat available next to Ling Nan. Without much thought, she casually took the seat.
She was sensitive to heat, usually staying indoors with air conditioning as much as possible. After standing outside for almost half an hour, she looked weary from the sun and didn’t feel like talking.
Ling Nan stood up and offered her a seat inside.
She took off her hat, her head already slightly sweaty. The cool air from the air conditioning above her head was refreshing.
She was prone to motion sickness, and the journey to “Oxygen Plus” would take about an hour. With her hands crossed in front of her, she leaned towards the window, closed her eyes, and rested.
The bus drove steadily, and gradually, the faint conversations of everyone on the bus filled the air.
Sitting behind her were Li Kai and Shi Chengwen, the liaisons from “Haiying.”
Both were talkative, and once they started talking, they couldn’t stop. Their soft voices reached her ears.
“Your company is really generous, taking so many people to a place like ‘Oxygen Plus’ and even willing to include us,” Shi Chengwen joked.
Li Kai chuckled, “We’re also fortunate. After the change in leadership, the treatment has improved significantly. This high-end team-building event is a first for me too.”
“We were allocated quite a few spots from above. After our team filled up, there were ten spots left, and I thought of you guys. I reported it, and they quickly agreed, then I messaged you.”
Shi Chengwen asked, “You changed leadership? When did this happen, and why weren’t we informed?”
Li Kai scratched his head, “Didn’t I tell you before? It’s with the Qin family.”
“Out of nowhere, the headquarters wanted to organize a social event, which later evolved into a large-scale team-building event. Qin Mo personally signed off on it, and ‘Oxygen Plus’ was booked directly.”
There was a rustling sound from behind, probably Shi Chengwen adjusting his posture. He straightened up, looking somewhat incredulous, “Qin family? Not Qin Mo, right?”
Li Kai sounded somewhat proud, “Exactly.”
Shi Chengwen exclaimed, “Wow, so we’re also cooperating with the Qin family?” Just as he finished speaking, he suddenly realized something and raised his voice, “So… the team-building event you mentioned isn’t with the headquarters of the Qin family, is it!”
The murmurs in the bus abruptly stopped, and silence fell.
All eyes turned to Li Kai and Shi Chengwen.
Cui Ziwan took the lead in asking, “We’re team-building with the Qin family?” She pointed to herself and then upwards, her face filled with disbelief.
The bus erupted in whispers, with exclamations of “Wow” echoing, excitement evident on their faces. The name Qin Mo suddenly ignited the atmosphere in the bus, like a spark in gasoline, the atmosphere surged with excitement.
Amidst the jubilation, Jiang Wansheng stood still, her eyes slightly dazed.
She felt a bit excited but also resistant.
In the midst of her dilemma, someone helped ask the question she wanted to know, “Will President Qin come?”
Li Kai thought for a moment, “I heard President Qin never participates in these group activities, so this time should be no exception.”
The people in the bus let out a disappointed “Ah…” The tone of unfulfilled expectations was evident.
Jiang Wansheng breathed a faint sigh of relief.
However, amidst the relief, there was a subtle, almost imperceptible sense of loss.
During this period, she had distanced herself from Qin Mo, accepting that their interactions were brief and likely to have no further connection. As the fading warmth was about to leave, she really didn’t want to see Qin Mo at this time.
She didn’t want to end up like her parents.
After a brief moment of warmth, a sudden change, being with him again would turn her into an unwanted burden. She didn’t want Qin Mo to feel the same way, to leave thoroughly, without seeing each other again.
She didn’t want to experience the coldness and unfamiliarity that followed the fading warmth once more.
