Chapter 38 Don’t Be Afraid.
Qin Mo occasionally picked some dishes into Jiang Wansheng’s plate. At first, she ignored and didn’t eat them, but he seemed not to notice and continued to pick the dishes for her as usual.
Whenever she got oil on her lips, he would promptly hand her a tissue, almost entirely focused on her, barely eating anything himself.
After Qin Mo picked a piece of coconut chicken for her again, she finally spoke up, “You haven’t eaten since last night, why don’t you eat by yourself instead of picking for me.”
He lazily replied, “I’m not very happy when Jiang Wansheng comes to my house. If I don’t take care of her well, she will get even angrier.”
She softly retorted, “You don’t need to take care of me.”
“I do it voluntarily.”
Jiang Wansheng pursed her lips, resisting his deliberate temptations.
Qin Mo initiated a conversation, “What have you been doing this morning?”
She replied while chewing, “Doing handicrafts.”
His eyebrows raised slightly, showing interest, “What are you making?”
She looked up at him with an expression that seemed to say, “You won’t understand even if I tell you,” hesitated for a moment, and said, “…a fluid bear.”
He nodded, even though he had no idea, “Where’s the finished product?”
“It needs to dry for a day or two, and then it will be mailed to me.”
He seized the key point, “Where will it be mailed to?”
Jiang Wansheng tightened her chopsticks, feeling that he was deliberately asking, and said impatiently, “Reifei Garden.”
Where else could she send it!
A faint smile played on the corner of his mouth, his black eyes filled with a hint of amusement, “I have to go back to the company later and can’t accompany you. Where are you going in the afternoon?”
Jiang Wansheng keenly understood what this man wanted to know and straightforwardly said, “There won’t be any senior brothers; everyone feels awkward.”
Qin Mo nodded in satisfaction without hiding his approval, “That’s good.”
She looked at him, suddenly curious, “How did you know last night that the senior brother was going to confess and waited there in advance.”
She frowned, feeling more and more uneasy.
Li Kai’s “Haiying” was recently acquired, and the acquirer was the Qin family. The team-building activity coincidentally lacked ten spots, perfectly matching their team. The venue and scale of the team-building were unprecedented, and even Qin Mo participated for the first time.
It seemed like… she had been arranged from the beginning.
Qin Mo looked at Jiang Wansheng’s changing expression calmly.
“Did you acquire ‘Haiying’?”
Qin Mo nodded decisively, “Yes.”
“When did you decide to acquire it?”
“The night we argued.” Qin Mo mentioned this matter and still felt uncomfortable.
Jiang Wansheng found it unbelievable and exclaimed, “Are you going to cancel my live broadcast?!”
Qin Mo never expected her thought process to be like this. How could she think that he acquired it to ruin her live broadcast?
He looked down at her, smiled, and asked, “Why do you think that way?”
She carefully recalled the unpleasant experience that night, “You were very impatient when I mentioned the live broadcast, and you even had a strange tone…”
She sounded a bit aggrieved, “You even scolded me.”
Qin Mo realized that he had indeed scared her that night, raised his hand to touch her hair gently, “It’s my fault. I was… jealous at that time.”
He said gently, “Uncle Qin officially apologizes to you.”
Jiang Wansheng widened her watery eyes, finding it hard to understand.
She looked puzzled and stammered, “Why… why were you jealous?”
He didn’t answer, just raised his hand expressionlessly to tuck a stray strand of hair from her forehead.
Jiang Wansheng’s eyelashes trembled slightly, “What are you doing?”
With a serious expression, he said, “He treated you like that at the time. How could I not be angry?”
She was speechless and choked up, “There was something on my hair at that time.”
Qin Mo sneered, “At that time, his eyes almost revealed his feelings for you.”
“You kept emphasizing to me that he was just well-mannered and had no ulterior motives, enduring it for a long time before you could even say a word.”
Jiang Wansheng blushed.
He continued, “As soon as I found out about your collaboration platform, I had Lin Tang start the acquisition to prevent you from being at a loss. I was also worried that you would hold a grudge against me because of that night, so I arranged such a big circle to take you out to play, thinking of apologizing to you, but you surprised me so much.”
He revealed the thoughts and efforts he had put in these days. Jiang Wansheng listened in astonishment, stuttering, “I thought… you…”
“What did you think?” Qin Mo interrupted her, taking the initiative to continue, “Did you think that because you contradicted me, I would acquire a company behind your back to sabotage your live broadcast?”
“What.” She interrupted him, “I thought you never wanted to see me again!”
During those days without seeing him, she silently prepared herself to be disliked, almost thinking that Qin Mo, like her parents, found her troublesome.
At the thought of this, her heart felt like it was soaked in a bitter and sour liquid, causing her eyes to sting.
She quickly lowered her head to hide the strangeness.
Upon hearing the words blurted out by the young girl, Qin Mo’s body froze.
How could he forget?
His little girl was sensitive and insecure, and during his absence these days, he didn’t know what she had been overthinking, leading her to panic when she saw him again.
The soft flesh in his heart felt like it was being poked by a soft hook, causing aching and bitterness.
Jiang Wansheng lowered her head to eat the wonton, momentarily speechless. She had blurted out her thoughts without thinking, and now she felt constrained to speak. Since he didn’t say anything, she started to speculate randomly.
She frowned, feeling regretful, and then a low, magnetic voice sounded above her head.
“Jiang Wansheng, look up at me.”
Her eyes were still red, and she didn’t want to reveal her emotions.
Qin Mo didn’t let her continue pretending to be innocent. He directly reached out, cupping her chin, and lifting her delicate face.
His tone was no longer casual, mixed with a hint of seriousness, “In my presence, the situation you worry about will never happen.”
“You may not understand my character very well. I have never liked anyone before, and once I’ve chosen you, it will only be you.”
“I am not your parents; I have no other choice. You are the only person I need to protect.”
The young girl stared at him intently, her eyes filled with misty haze, a hint of pink at the corners of her eyes, as if she was too shocked to speak.
He sighed helplessly, using his fingertips to wipe away the tears at the corner of her eyes, soothingly saying, “I went abroad on a business trip during those days I was away to calm down and suppress those negative thoughts in my heart. I just didn’t expect that as soon as I saw you, I completely lost control.”
Listening to Qin Mo’s heartfelt confession, she was shocked beyond words, subconsciously holding her breath to listen to every word he said.
Their eyes met, and the depths of his ink-like eyes were obscure and hard to fathom.
These words were too precious and too heart-wrenching. He knew exactly what he lacked and what he desired. Every word hit her right in the heart, making it almost impossible for her to find any reason to refuse.
However, she was just an ordinary college student, and he was the feared Third Master of the Qin family in Beijing.
Why did he choose her?
Was it her appearance? Or was it because she was easy to control, powerless, and without anyone to protect her?
The Qin family was like a fantasy to her, just like the Third Master of the Qin family.
So, after what happened last night, besides being shocked, she also felt a deep fear lingering in her heart.
As she was lost in thought, she suddenly felt a warm and moist touch at the corner of her eye. Subconsciously closing her eyes, her eyelashes trembled.
Qin Mo’s thin lips touched the girl’s tender skin, whispering, “I’ll give you time, don’t be afraid.”
Lowering his head, he kissed her cheek and the corner of her mouth.
The comforting meaning was strong.
The man’s body enveloped her in a pervasive scent of cold sandalwood, his cold white skin close by, his slightly closed eyelids, and deep black eyes gazing intently.
Jiang Wansheng came to her senses, pushed him away, and changed the subject as if avoiding, “Didn’t you promise not to kiss me?”
He didn’t reveal anything, following her lead, he lightly touched her lips, “I only promised not to kiss this.”
