Assistant Cheng was delighted, smiling as he quickly returned to Su Qin’s side.
He is just a small director.
In today’s entertainment industry, it’s the wealthy who hold the power. What can he do without investment? There are plenty of talented individuals whose skills are wasted because they’re overly proud.
She didn’t take Director Meng seriously at all.
Director Meng shook his head as he watched their distant figures.
“I thought she had potential, but it was all an illusion. Anyway, give me the phone.”
The assistant director handed over the phone.
“What’s up? Who do you want to call?”
“That Su Wan has been resting too long; tell her to come to work tomorrow!”
The loud, clear command “Get over here and film!” from the WeChat voice message nearly made Su Wan faint on the spot.
While rubbing her ears, she messaged Director Meng.
She had laid at home for over a week without anyone bothering her; not being treated as the main target of torment was quite nice.
Su Wan: “I’ll go tomorrow.”
Director Meng quickly replied: “Come early; it’s your main scene tomorrow.”
Su Wan: “????”
Confused, she opened the script: “…”
It really was her main scene. Tomorrow’s role mainly involved commanding the maid, bullying her half-sister, and showing off.
She only needed to stay in her luxurious little courtyard, with minimal physical movement required.
Su Wan suddenly thought to herself, being a supporting character is really great!
…
At the same time,
“Mr. Li, Ms Su has arrived.”
Li Yang, sitting in a black leather armchair in his office, paused for a moment: “Which one?”
The secretary was taken aback and replied, “Su Qin.”
For so long, only Su Qin had been allowed inside the company, so Li Yang’s question seemed to confuse him.
“Oh,” Li Yang said nonchalantly, “Let her in.”
He watched the secretary leave, frowning slightly.
Li Yang himself was puzzled by why he had asked that. Even more strangely, a flicker of odd anticipation rose within him.
Su Qin was bundled up tightly.
Once she entered, she took off her sunglasses and mask, letting out a breath while making sure her hair wasn’t disheveled.
Li Yang looked at her: “What’s wrong?”
Su Qin’s eyes reddened without her saying a word. Trembling slightly, she said, “I’m so scared today… Aunt Su withdrew her investment, and my dad didn’t provide enough, so the director has been making my life miserable all day.”
As she spoke, she gently wiped away her tears, her wide sleeves falling back to reveal the bruises on her white arms.
Li Yang frowned, clearly not focused on her bruises: “They withdrew the investment?”
“Yes.” Su Qin sniffled as she walked up to him, grasping his arm. “It’s normal for Aunt Su to do this; the female lead isn’t her biological daughter. I’m just an outsider in this family…”
“How much is missing? I’ll cover it.”
Su Qin froze for a moment, then her eyes brightened: “Really?” She joyfully hugged Li Yang’s arm, as if he were a savior. “But… wouldn’t that cost you a lot?”
She had come with this intention from the start.
Su Qin didn’t plan to retrieve Aunt Su’s investment as her father suggested.
Having Li Yang put up the money would infuriate Su Wan when she found out at the set, allowing Su Qin to release her pent-up frustration.
Now that her wish was granted, how could she not be happy?
