The Forbidden City’s Sweetest Secret Chapter 53

Chapter 53 Am I Prettier Than Me?

Pei Que knocked on the Bugatti’s window, and Qin Mo impatiently rolled it down.

His tone was definitely not good, “Are you free?”

Pei Que joked, “Yeah, but I see you’re not any better.” As he spoke, he even raised his chin in Jiang Wansheng’s direction.

Just as he saw Qin Mo’s car, upon closer inspection, he saw a little girl inside.

He immediately became interested; this was an opportunity he had to seize.

Jiang Wansheng heard the voice and instinctively turned her head.

The man’s appearance was indeed striking, yet familiar.

She took a few more glances, and Qin Mo had been watching her all along. Seeing her expression, a thin layer of frost quickly rose in his black eyes.

In just those few glances, Jiang Wansheng keenly noticed the woman sitting in the front passenger seat with Pei Que, unmistakably her own best friend.

Suddenly, she realized that this was none other than Ming Yin’s favorite, Pei Que!

No wonder it felt familiar; back in high school, Ming yin had shown her pictures, and even though they hadn’t met since then, a face from middle school was hard to forget.

Ming Yin glanced over casually, then froze.

Who would have thought that the two would meet under these circumstances?

Originally, Ming Yin had planned to keep her acquaintance with Qin Weizhao a secret from Pei Que, so they could part ways amicably without interference and without embarrassing Qin Weizhao.

But who knew Jiang Wansheng would catch Qin Mo’s attention.

Qin Mo knew Jiang Wansheng was friends with her, he just didn’t know Pei Que was involved with her.

Even if she wanted to hide it, she couldn’t hide it anymore. Sooner or later, Pei Que would find out about the relationship between herself, Qin Weizhao, and Jiang Wansheng from Qin Mo.

She greeted in resignation, “Wansheng, darling.”

Pei Que raised an eyebrow playfully, looking thoughtful, “Do you know that little girl with Qin Mo?”

Ming Yin didn’t want to say much, “We’ll explain later.”

Pei Que’s hand reached her waist, pinching her as a punishment, “Indeed, you should explain well.”

Jiang Wansheng couldn’t help but smile at her dejected look, “Yinyin.”

Pei Que jokingly looked at Qin Mo, “What a coincidence, where are you guys going?”

Qin Mo’s face darkened, “Do I need to report to you?”

Seeing his expression, Pei Que couldn’t help but laugh, “I’m taking my family member to the hospital. If it’s on the way, I might as well tell you something.”

Ming Yin was taken aback by Pei Que’s casual mention of “my family member,” her heart beating irregularly.

This man was really good at flirting without even trying.

Jiang Wansheng heard about going to the hospital and looked at Ming Yin, “What’s up with Ming Xiao?”

Ming Yin came back to her senses, “Yes, she’s having surgery today, I made the appointment for her yesterday.”

“What are you up to?” she teased, “A date?”

“Don’t talk nonsense, Chen Xingran is sick and wants to see me.”

Ming Yin’s face fell, complaining, “She never moves around, but now she wants to see you.”

Pei Que interjected, “Great, let’s go together.”

Upon hearing this, Qin Mo raised the car window without a word and left first.

Pei Que gritted his teeth and scoffed.

He was really petty.

Just because the girl looked at him a bit more, he had such a big temper.

In the car, Jiang Wansheng noticed that Qin Mo’s mood had soured since seeing Pei Que, but this was between the two of them, so she tactfully chose not to ask.

The carriage fell silent, and Qin Mo, looking at Jiang Wansheng’s calm demeanor, remembered her obvious gaze fixed on Pei Que, feeling inexplicably irritable.

After holding back for a while, he couldn’t resist.

“Do you think that thing is good-looking?” he asked coldly.

Jiang Wansheng was caught off guard by this abrupt question, “Huh?”

Qin Mo remained silent with a cold expression.

A few seconds later, she had an epiphany.

That thing, was it Pei Que?

“You mean… Mr. Pei?” she clarified.

Qin Mo grunted in agreement.

Then added coldly, “You didn’t notice him staring at you for so long?”

Jiang Wansheng was stunned, carefully recollecting, then burst into laughter.

The girl’s smile was very beautiful, her watery eyes curved in a graceful arc, with a soft and warm smile.

Qin Mo’s stern brows furrowed, “Prettier than me?”

Jiang Wansheng looked at him carefully. His appearance belonged to the kind that was quite aggressive, with high brow bones, deep eye sockets, a tight jawline, and a face that could send shivers down one’s spine even without expression.

Yet, he always carried himself with a casual air of confidence, appearing nonchalant.

Extremely attractive.

Her silence irritated Qin Mo, making his already cold features even sharper.

“No, I think you’re the most handsome,” the girl’s gentle voice sounded.

Qin Mo sneered, “Took you so long to say that, trying to please me?”

Jiang Wansheng found Qin Mo quite difficult to deal with and explained helplessly, “No, I was surprised to see my best friend at that moment.”

She couldn’t possibly explain that Ming Yin had a crush on Pei Que, and she had only taken a few more glances because she found the face familiar from the photos she used to carry around.

If he turned around and told Pei Que, she would indirectly betray her sisterhood.

She emphasized again, “I really think you’re the most handsome.”

Qin Mo glanced at her, the girl’s watery eyes seemed to be filled with fragmented light, sincere and simple.

Huh.

Why is she so pure?

His restless emotions were instantly soothed, “I’ll reluctantly believe you.”

Jiang Wansheng and Ming Yin arrived at the hospital and entered the elevator together.

Ming Yin gossiped, “What’s going on? You said there was no one yesterday, and I was so worried, turns out you were held back by some man.”

“Stop overthinking, I stayed over after getting drunk last night.” Then she changed the subject, “What about you?”

“What can I do? I’m currently staying at Pei Que’s apartment. Who knew the brothers had to buy a place together.”

Jiang Wansheng asked, “Aren’t you going home?”

“Of course, my dad froze my card to force me to go home. How could I not go back?”

Ming Yin’s father had always wanted her to take over the family business and study business, but she was rebellious and only liked photography, which infuriated her father. Part of the reason she studied abroad was to avoid him.

When the elevator reached Ming Yin’s floor, she waved, “I’ll go first.”

“Sure.”

Walking into Chen Xingran’s ward, a warm and cheerful scene of a family of three entered their view through the glass door.

Jiang Wansheng silently watched. She had seen this scene many times before, but she couldn’t remain indifferent each time.

She had intended to go in directly but hesitated for a moment, ultimately choosing to raise her hand and knock on the door.

When Luo Muyan turned to see her, her smile froze for a moment on her face, then she hurried over to open the door.

“Wansheng.”

Chen He also walked over, seeing her empty-handed, his eyes flickered, and he smiled, “Wansheng is here, come in quickly. Xingran has mentioned her sister several times.”

“Sorry, I came in a hurry and didn’t bring anything.”

Luo Muyan held her hand, “We’re all family, no need for gifts.”

Jiang Wansheng inwardly sneered, letting her be pulled inside.

She knew that Luo Muyan felt guilty but couldn’t bring herself to apologize, so she wanted to use this intimate way to help her forget yesterday’s unpleasantness and maintain a facade of peace with a smile on her face.
