The Forbidden City’s Sweetest Secret Chapter 56

Chapter 56 Supporting Our Little Jiang Tiantian.

This was the first time Jiang Wansheng saw Qin Mo in the kitchen.

His tall figure stood calmly in the kitchen, shedding the sharp and distant aura from the business world. At this moment, he lowered his head slightly, his profile cold, noble, and handsome.

His sleeves rolled up, revealing his forearms, the cutting action showcasing taut and smooth muscles, his pale skin carrying a seductive allure.

Jiang Wansheng looked for a few seconds, realizing her distraction, and quickly lowered her head to focus on her own tasks.

She missed the subtle smile in the man’s lacquered eyes.

In the end, three dishes were made: stir-fried pork with rice shoots, shredded pork with garlic sauce, and stir-fried Shanghai greens.

Placing the dishes on the table, the two sat facing each other.

She was somewhat expectant, a glimmer in her eyes, “Try it quickly.”

She had heard from Qin Weizhao before that Qin Mo was very picky and difficult to please, so she felt a bit nervous.

Qin Mo leisurely took a bite, under her anxious gaze, he smiled and said, “Delicious.”

Jiang Wansheng breathed a sigh of relief, the corners of her eyes softening, she smiled and said, “That’s good then.”

Qin Mo half-lidded his eyes as he looked at her, a hint of warmth in his cold star-like eyes.

The stylish chandelier above cast a soft light, the aroma of the food wafting up, the two quietly dining, with occasional clinking of utensils.

Simple yet warm.

Half an hour later, Jiang Wansheng finished her meal and put down her chopsticks.

But she noticed that Qin Mo, who usually ate faster than her, was still eating leisurely.

She looked up in surprise, her gaze meeting the man’s deep eyes.

He remained composed, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” She paused, “You’re eating so slowly today.”

Qin Mo raised an eyebrow casually, his tone flat, “Am I?”

Jiang Wansheng felt something was off.

Qin Mo gazed at the girl in front of him, his eyes carrying depth.

Twenty minutes later, he slowly wiped his mouth and finished his meal.

“I’ll go wash the dishes.”

“I’ll help you.” She stood up with Qin Mo.

“No need, go watch TV.”

He didn’t let her intervene, heading straight to the kitchen with the dishes.

However, Jiang Wansheng still helped bring the things to the kitchen before leaving.

Then she went upstairs directly to get the clothes she changed out of and washed this morning.

Qin Mo listened to the girl’s footsteps going upstairs, then checked his watch and slowed down his dishwashing speed.

After tidying up and watching TV in the living room, Qin Mo finally came out of the kitchen.

She hurried to meet him, “Little uncle, I’ve got the things, let’s go.”

She had come here originally to get her clothes, as she was going back to Chongfei Garden to stay.

Qin Mo looked at her for a few seconds without responding, then sat directly on the sofa.

Jiang Wansheng was puzzled.

Qin Mo raised his hand to pinch his brow, emitting a tired and lazy aura.

He hoarsely said, “Rest for a while.”

Seeing his appearance, Jiang Wansheng felt a pang of worry, “Little uncle, are you tired?”

Qin Mo lazily raised his eyelids and nodded.

She felt a bit guilty; if she had known, she wouldn’t have let him help and wash the dishes.

His deep eyes fixed on the girl’s expression, he probed, “What time is it now?”

She checked the time, “It’s half past eight.”

“It is indeed a bit late.” He paused, then stood up, “Let’s go, I’ll take you.”

He frowned slightly, with a forced tone.

Jiang Wansheng’s guilt expanded infinitely.

It was indeed late, but little uncle seemed so tired…

She took a deep breath and spoke, “Little uncle, why don’t I stay in the guest room here tonight?”

She was afraid he might think too much, so she added, “It’s dangerous to drive when fatigued.”

Qin Mo readily stopped in his tracks, a barely noticeable curve appearing on his thin lips, deliberately hesitating for a few seconds before saying, “Okay.”

He had promised her not to stay in Chongfei Garden, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t take her to Luqiu Mingdu.

That night, he applied medicine to Jiang Wansheng’s face, watched TV together for a while, then let her go to sleep.

The next day, Chen Xingran’s surgery was scheduled for ten in the morning, expected to last one to two hours. She specifically looked up postoperative dietary precautions online, so she got up early to prepare a pot of rock sugar chestnut corn porridge for her.

After breakfast with Qin Mo, she thought he would go to work, but to her surprise, he leisurely sat on the sofa, showing no signs of moving.

She walked over, “Little uncle, aren’t you going to work?”

“Today is the weekend.” He looked at Jiang Wansheng’s apron and asked, “What are you going to do?”

“My sister is having surgery today, and I plan to make some corn porridge for her.”

“When are you going?”

She thought for a moment, “Around nine o’clock.”

Qin Mo nodded lazily, “I’ll go with you.”

“What are you going there for?”

“To support our family’s Jiang Wansheng.”

His tone was gentle and plain, yet as heavy as a thousand catties.

Jiang Wansheng hesitated, “You…”

“Every time you see your parents, you’re in a bad mood. I’m worried.”

Although she appeared happy and relaxed last night, there was a moment of distraction. A faint sense of loneliness lingered in her eyes, unnoticed by him.

Jiang Wansheng was momentarily stunned.

For the first time, her reaction was not to refuse but to obediently nod.

“Okay.”

She smiled, her eyebrows soft and beautiful.

Qin Mo was pleased with her response and raised his hand to pinch her fair cheek.

“So obedient.”

Hospital.

When Jiang Wansheng arrived, Chen Xingran was already waiting in the ward for surgery.

Seeing her, his somewhat dejected expression brightened, “Sister, you’re finally here!”

Jiang Wansheng placed the thermos at the bedside and said softly, “I’ve prepared some corn porridge for you, sweetened. You can have it after the surgery to recover.”

She looked up from the bed, “Then I must recover quickly.”

Jiang Wansheng smiled.

Chen He stood aside and repeated, “Wansheng, when Xingran finishes the surgery, Uncle will have to leave. It will be up to you to take care of Xingran during this time.”

Qin Mo had just entered the ward and heard this. His face instantly turned sharp, his gaze sweeping over Chen He like a blade, exuding a strong sense of oppression.

Luo Muyan saw the newcomer and looked uneasy.

She had just talked to Jiang Wansheng yesterday, and now she brought someone over, which made her feel embarrassed.

Chen He had never seen such an imposing person before. At this moment, under the cold and deep gaze, he felt a chill down his spine.

He stood by Jiang Wansheng’s side, towering between Chen He and Jiang Wansheng, forming a protective barrier solely for Jiang Wansheng.

Looking down at Chen He, his voice cold, “What did you just say?”

Chen He didn’t know Qin Mo and didn’t want to lose face. He stiffened his neck and said, “Are you Wansheng’s boyfriend?”

“You should also know that Xingran is her sister. It’s not excessive for her to take care of her.”

“I can’t bear to let Wansheng worry, and you’re here ordering her around as if it’s your right.” His tone was cold but dominant, with a hint of hidden hostility in his calm and unruffled black eyes.

My Shengsheng.

Jiang Wansheng was momentarily stunned.

It seemed like the first time he called her “Shengsheng.”

Assertive and warm.

She couldn’t help but lower her eyes.

Qin Mo continued.

“Mr. Chen.” He paused for a few seconds, then slowly spoke, “Quite audacious.”

Ignoring Chen He’s strained expression, he sarcastically continued, “As a father, not taking care of his own child and expecting a young girl to do it, you’re quite bold.”

Chen He opened his mouth, about to say something, but Luo Muyan quickly pulled him behind her, warning him in a low voice, “This is the Third Master Qin from Beijing. You can’t afford to provoke him.”

Chen He suddenly froze, fear gradually creeping into his heart.

“Why didn’t you say earlier!” He scolded in a hushed voice.

He was about to say something nice, to make amends.

Suddenly, Chen Xingran on the hospital bed spoke up, her voice childish and a bit fearful, “Brother-in-law, can you not argue with my dad?”

The atmosphere in the ward suddenly froze, everyone stiffened for a moment.

Jiang Wansheng was no exception.

She hurriedly explained, “It’s not…”

“It depends on your sister’s attitude.” Qin Mo didn’t let her finish, interjecting.

“I’ll listen to her.”

But evidently, his imposing aura lessened a bit upon hearing the term “brother-in-law.”
