Chapter 3 : She is just jealous of me
After Wang Meili finished giving instructions, she headed out with Grandma Ye.
With a daughter marrying a city person, how could she not show it off?
Jiang Yu glanced at Jiang Ting, feeling that her sister seemed a bit different.
“Are you really going to meet with Fu Xiangyang?”
Jiang Ting shot her a look. “Mom already talked to the matchmaker, there’s no going back. You don’t think I’m stealing your chance at marriage, do you? I thought you didn’t want to marry since you didn’t say anything just now.”
Jiang Yu shook her head, increasingly suspicious.
“Of course not, this marriage is something you’re pursuing on your own. It’s just…”
“Just what?” A glimmer of excitement flashed in Jiang Ting’s eyes, she was sure Jiang Yu was already regretting it.
Regret all you want, it was too late now.
Jiang Yu’s regret wouldn’t change anything, she wouldn’t back down!
After pondering for a moment, Jiang Yu said, “Don’t you find it strange? City folks don’t even ask for bride prices, if Fu Xiangyang was good, why look for a wife in the countryside?”
Jiang Ting scoffed. If it weren’t for her second chance at life, she might have fallen for Jiang Yu’s nonsense.
In her previous life, Jiang Yu couldn’t have children, yet Fu Xiangyang never divorced her and even left her with two of his sister’s kids to raise.
Such a good man, this time, she was determined to give Fu Xiangyang ten or eight kids.
“Big sister, you don’t need to say anything else. No matter how much you regret it, I won’t let this marriage go to you.”
Jiang Yu: “?” Was she out of her mind?
Seeing Jiang Ting’s determination, Jiang Yu decided not to persuade her anymore and turned to leave.
Although she had a bad reputation in the village, she still had her connections.
She got along well with everyone, young and old.
She had a good friend named Wang Zhaodi, but later Jiang Yu thought that name was not great, so she privately renamed her Wang Yunshan.
“How did I hear that Jiang Ting is getting married?”
Jiang Yu nodded. “Not yet met, but it’s likely to happen soon.”
Wang Yunshan asked, “Still a city person?”
Jiang Yu replied, “A mechanic from the State Cotton Factory. Both parents work, the conditions are decent.”
Wang Yunshan was sharp and sensed something was off.
“With such good conditions, why not find someone in the city?”
City girls don’t even require a bride price, they also come with dowries.
Jiang Yu casually said, “He’s not in good health.”
Wang Yunshan was surprised. “Not in good health? What if he can’t perform? Your mom actually wants Jiang Ting to marry him? Isn’t that pushing her into the fire? Oh no, marrying someone like that would mean living a life of widowhood!”
Jiang Yu nearly choked, coughing as she was taken aback.
She had to admit, Wang Yunshan had hit the nail on the head.
“Don’t talk nonsense, it’s just that he’s a bit weak.”
As for whether he could perform, she didn’t know.
After all, in her dreams, Fu Xiangyang wasn’t capable.
Their conversation was overheard by Jiang Yu’s aunt, Yang Cuilan.
Yang Cuilan, known for her loudmouth, immediately hurried to the village entrance.
Grandma Ye had three sons, and due to her favoritism, it wasn’t that she lacked money but that there was an imbalance.
She favored her youngest son, Jiang Yu’s father, Jiang Yonghua.
Always trying to dig into the funds of the eldest and second sons to support Jiang Yonghua had resulted in a particularly strained relationship among the three brothers.
When Yang Cuilan heard Wang Meili say that Jiang Ting was going to marry a city person, her first reaction was disbelief, quickly followed by jealousy.
She also has a daughter, who is one year older than Jiang Yu and is not married yet. Why doesn’t the matchmaker look for her family?
Later, when she heard that it was Old Lady Ye who had brought the matchmaker home, she thought that this old woman was the one interfering.
Maybe this Matchmaker Yao was headed to her house but got intercepted by Old Lady Ye along the way.
When she heard Wang Yunshan say that the man wasn’t good, she felt a sense of relief.
“I’m talking about good conditions, but why did I hear that Jiang Ting’s boyfriend from the city isn’t good?”
Wang Meili didn’t immediately react. “What do you mean not good? He’s from the city, both his parents work, how could that be bad? Sister-in-law, your standards are too high.”
Yang Cuilan sneered, “It’s not that the conditions are bad, it’s that his health is bad.”
“Oh come on! So what if he’s a bit weak? They both have jobs and money. They can take care of themselves,” Wang Meili brushed it off.
Yang Cuilan began to mock, “I’m talking about his capabilities in bed, do you understand? You’re pushing Jiang Ting into a pit! I’ve said it before, why shouldn’t Jiang Yu marry? You’re just being biased!”
Wang Meili was furious, but before she could say anything, she spotted Jiang Ting.
Jiang Ting, who was usually honest and quiet, couldn’t hold back this time. She lunged at Yang Cuilan, grabbing her hair.
“Pfft! Auntie, you’re just jealous that I found a city match! You’re deliberately ruining my man’s reputation. Just watch, I’ll tear you apart!”
Why should Fu Xiangyang, such a good man, be slandered by them?
Jiang Ting slapped Yang Cuilan several times across the face.
This sudden turn of events shocked everyone.
Who would believe that Jiang Ting would dare to hit someone?
“Oh no! This is serious, Wang Meili! Hurry and stop your daughter, or her aunt’s face will be swollen from all the slapping!”
Only then did Wang Meili remember to pull Jiang Ting away, angrily exclaiming, “What are you doing?!”
It was one thing to argue, but another to resort to violence.
Jiang Ting’s face was fierce, flushed with anger.
“She’s slandering my man! That’s unacceptable!”
The lady next to her clicked her tongue twice.
“you haven’t even met yet, and you keep calling him your man.”
“Your aunt didn’t say anything, why are you so worked up?”
“The younger generation hitting the older generation before even getting married? If she really did marry, that would be something else.”
Wang Meili felt incredibly disappointed and wanted to slap her.
Yang Cuilan was just being spiteful, but once they were married, she’d let them be envious!
She pinched Jiang Ting hard and said, “Apologize to your aunt!”
Jiang Ting stiffened her neck and said nothing. “She was the first to say that. I won’t apologize.”
Yang Cuilan was furious and shouted, “How could I say such nonsense? He’s from the city, both his parents work, and he has great conditions. There are plenty of girls in the city for him to choose from. If he didn’t find a match in the city and came to the countryside to look for a country girl like you, he must be sick!”
“You’re still talking!” Jiang Ting jumped up and wanted to hit her, but was stopped by Wang Meili.
Wang Meili slapped her several times, “How dare you do that? You’re going to die!”
Yang Cuilan spat fiercely, “You uneducated thing, I always thought you were a good person, but now you know that a barking dog doesn’t bite! Let’s see how long you can be so proud!”
She walked away angrily, pulling the corner of her lip and gasping in pain.
Jiang Yu came back from Wang Yunshan’s place and met Yang Cuilan on the way. He heard her swearing and realized that Jiang Ting had actually hit someone!
She hurried home and just heard Wang Meili scolding someone.
“It’s not a worry at all. What if this gets out to the city and the Fu family doesn’t want you anymore?”
“I’m warning you, if this marriage goes wrong and your brother can’t go to the city to work as a worker and eat commercial grain, I’ll skin you alive!”
“You are not good at anything. If you can’t get married, your elder sister will do it instead!”
Jiang Ting immediately exploded “I want to get married! This must be Jiang Yu’s fault. She must have told my aunt that my man is not good enough. She is just jealous of me!”
