Chapter 22: Making Friends Out of Nothing
Xie Fei fei finally understood why Huang Ying said she wasn’t as quick-witted as Jiang Yu.
She was simply too organized, she hadn’t even thought of these points herself!
Sun Zailiang looked pained. “There’s no need for this. It’s too serious.”
Jiang Yu smiled. “So, Sun Zailiang, you really don’t realize how serious this matter is, do you? Well, it’s not your reputation that Zhao Qing harmed, is it? You haven’t lost anything.”
Ignoring Sun Zailiang’s ugly expression, she sighed softly.
“In this world, there are always so many people who can talk big without any real understanding of the situation. Generosity toward oneself and generosity toward others are two very different things. I hope that when you encounter those who harm you, you can be just as forgiving, rather than just expecting others to be forgiving.”
Sun Zailiang was dumbfounded, he had just made one comment, and now he was being treated as if he were the villain!
He used to see Jiang Yu as a gentle comrade, but today she seemed so different.
Sure enough, beautiful women often had a sharp edge.
The workshop director looked at He Tingyue all disputes, big and small, were resolved by the security department.
How to deal with this matter depended on him.
He Tingyue said nothing, but he had a clear sense of right and wrong in his heart.
“According to Comrade Jiang’s suggestion, Zhao Qing will write a letter of reflection and submit it to the security department for review, to be posted at the entrance of the supply and marketing cooperative. Additionally, during the month-end commendation meeting, there will be a criticism of both Sun Zailiang and Zhao Qing’s actions!”
This was the first time He Tingyue had spoken so much in front of Jiang Yu, and his words were firm and authoritative, leaving no room for rebuttal.
He directly represented the second factory and took action without showing favoritism.
Just this alone elevated his image in Jiang Yu’s mind significantly.
This man had an uncanny ability to touch her heart in every little way.
Sun Zailiang’s face turned ashen, and he felt resentment bubbling inside him.
He hated Zhao Qing and Xie Fei fei, resented Jiang Yu for meddling, and was furious with He Tingyue for being so unyielding.
Yet he never considered his own faults.
Xie Fei fei was very satisfied with this outcome.
She smiled, “I believe the second factory is just and fair, they will give me a satisfactory explanation.”
With that, Xie Fei fei glanced at Jiang Yu.
“Let’s go.”
As they passed Zhao Qing, Xie Fei fei paused.
“Every word I said to you just now was the truth. Sun Zailiang did pursue me, he gave me gifts, but at that time I had no idea you existed. I have my pride and would never stoop to stealing someone else’s man. I could have clearly told you that the man you cherish means nothing to me.”
She stood tall and proud, making her declaration before everyone, and then walked away.
Zhao Qing closed her eyes, not daring to look up.
At that moment, she felt like a clown, especially in front of Xie Fei fei.
Now, Sun Zailiang hadn’t said a word on her behalf.
Zhao Qing forced a smile, was this man really worth it?
He Feiyan stealthily greeted He Tingyue and quickly left the security department.
She thought she would miss Jiang Yu but found them waiting for her at the entrance.
He Feiyan rushed over, “I thought you guys had left!”
Xie Fei fei patted her pocket. “It’s too late to go back to work now. I’ll treat you to dinner at the state-run restaurant!”
It was rare for her to be so generous.
But this time, it was truly thanks to Jiang Yu and He Feiyan.
If they hadn’t helped, Zhao Qing might have really escaped.
With a meal on the line, He Feiyan and Jiang Yu were naturally eager.
Xie Fei fei wasn’t stingy this time; she ordered three meat dishes, one vegetable dish, and a soup a very lavish spread.
The three female comrades ate heartily until they were stuffed.
“Jiang Yu, Feiyan, I truly appreciate you both. I’ll tell my parents to invite you over for dinner sometime.”
He Feiyan quickly waved her hands, she didn’t like dealing with elders.
Her involvement in today’s matter was purposeful.
After finishing the meal, she used the excuse of taking Jiang Yu home to share her own story.
“I need your help with something, and if it works out, I’ll give you thirty yuan as a reward.”
He Feiyan was eighteen this year, still a year away from graduating from her vocational school.
The money she had came from He Tingyue, who never shortchanged his younger siblings.
Among the entire compound, his family’s children were the most well-off.
Jiang Yu raised an eyebrow, skeptical. “What kind of matter is worth thirty yuan? You’re not trying to get me to do something illegal, are you?”
He Feiyan hesitated. “Just listen first and judge whether it’s bad.”
“Go ahead.”
After some hesitation, He Feiyan bit her lip and started, “I have a friend who was deceived in a romantic relationship by a substitute teacher from the neighboring school, and she was also swindled out of money.”
Jiang Yu responded, “…This friend of yours isn’t actually you, is it?”
He Feiyan’s face turned pale with anger.
“Seeing through it without saying it, how can you be so bad at reading people!”
Jiang Yu: “…”
She was young but still had a sense of pride.
“Okay then, tell me how your friend got deceived in love and how the money was taken.”
He Feiyan bit her lip. “The substitute teacher was quite good-looking, and I liked him… Oh, I mean, my friend liked him. At first, he was very generous, willing to spend money on my friend, and he was charming, handsome, dashing…”
“Wait, he already swindled you out of money, and you’re still praising him!” Jiang Yu rolled her eyes, utterly exasperated.
He Feiyan was infuriated, stamping her foot.
“I’m talking about my friend! It’s not me!”
Jiang Yu rubbed her forehead, feeling a headache coming on.
“Fine, fine, let’s hear more about your friend.”
He Feiyan continued, “But it wasn’t long before he started borrowing money from my friend for various reasons.”
“Did your friend lend him money?”
“Of course, she did. He was so good-looking…”
Jiang Yu interrupted, “How much did he borrow in total?”
He Feiyan mumbled, “A little over a hundred…”
“How much?”
“All together, it was one hundred thirty yuan!”
Jiang Yu was taken aback, He Feiyan didn’t even have a job yet, and she was sitting on a small fortune!
What a gullible girl!
“So what happened next?”
He Feiyan said, “Then my friend found out he already had a girlfriend. The money he swindled from my friend was used to please his girlfriend. My… my friend went to ask him for the money back, but he denied ever having any relationship with her.”
That man even turned it around on her “When did I ever date you? I never borrowed money from you, you gave me that money willingly! Even if this matter escalates, you can check to see if anyone believes you.”
“This substitute teacher is very good at pretending, he’s good-looking, so no one believes he’s a heartless jerk.”
He Feiyan even told her classmates about this, and they all didn’t believe her.
