Chapter 55 : I don’t know

On the day Jiang Yu and Xie Fei fei had planned to go boating, it happened to be the wedding day of Zhao Qing and Sun Zailiang.

They had arranged to meet in the afternoon, bringing some snacks to enjoy an afternoon tea together.

Unexpectedly, Xie Fei fei came to find her in the morning.

“Isn’t today Zhao Qing and Sun Zailiang’s wedding? Guess what I found out!”

“What?”

Xie Fei fei spoke mysteriously, “Zhao Qing isn’t pregnant at all! She’s been working as a temporary worker in the Second Factory for two years without being promoted. Later, she started dating Sun Zailiang and gave herself to him, a lot of people at the factory know she’s his girlfriend. But then, Sun Zailiang suddenly wanted to break up with her, and she wasn’t willing to let go. She knows that if he leaves her, she won’t find someone better, so she thought to use a pregnancy to trap him!”

“What?” Jiang Yu gasped. “How do you know this?”

Such a private matter couldn’t possibly have come from Zhao Qing herself, right?

“Today, since they’re having the banquet, Zhao Qing’s dad got drunk and let it slip. Sun Zailiang’s mom fainted from anger on the spot.”

But what could they do? Friends and relatives had been invited, gifts had been received, and the marriage certificate had been issued, could they really get divorced?

Xie Fei fei covered her mouth and chuckled, “Serves her right!”

Although she didn’t like Zhao Qing, she thought Zhao Qing was a bit better than Sun Zailiang.

However, neither of them were good people, it was just poetic justice.

“Enough about them. Let’s go find He Feiyan and eat out for lunch.”

Xie Fei fei nodded, “Sure.”

Just as they reached the alley, they saw He Feiyan rush out, flustered.

“My sister is outside fighting with someone! I’m going to check it out, so I won’t join you at the park!”

She managed to leave that sentence behind before running off.

Xie Fei fei muttered, “What a coincidence. Isn’t her sister usually well-behaved? Why is she getting into a fight?”

Jiang Yu calculated the time, “Aren’t there no classes today?”

“There aren’t any classes. The junior high school students are having a fall outing… Wait, aren’t they going to Beihai Park for the outing? Why is He Feiyan running that way?”

Jiang Yu felt something was off. “That direction is toward the middle school. Doesn’t she know her sister-in-law is supposed to be at the outing?”

After a moment of thought, Xie Fei fei replied, “She should know.”

They hesitated for a moment when Tong Fang came out from inside.

Xie Fei fei greeted him and directly asked, “Comrade Tong Fang, do you know where He Feiyan went?”

Tong Fang was taken aback. “I heard Duan Yuzhen say that Feiyan’s sister was fighting at school, and the teacher wanted to call the parents.”

“How could that be? The middle school students are all at Beihai Park for their outing. There’s hardly anyone left at the school besides the security guard,” Xie Fei fei instinctively felt that Duan Yuzhen was lying.

“I don’t know then.” Tong Fang shrugged and walked away.

Jiang Yu shared Xie Fei fei’s concerns. “Fei fei, let’s postpone the boating. I suspect this is Duan Yuzhen trying to set a trap for He Feiyan. We need to find Director He!”

Xie Fei fei quickly agreed. “You go find Feiyan’s brother. I’ll ride my bike to follow and see. If Duan Yuzhen is indeed trying to set Feiyan up, she probably won’t dare to go too far.”

Duan Yuzhen might be bold, but she should still be cautious around He Tingyue.

“Okay, just be careful and don’t be too aggressive. We’ll discuss it once I find her brother.”

So they split up, one going to find He Feiyan and the other to the second factory.

Jiang Yu was a familiar face, the guard recognized her well.

“Comrade Jiang, you’re here again. What’s up?”

Jiang Yu hurriedly replied, “I’m looking for Director He. Can you help me call him out? Just say that his sister-in-law is outside fighting, and He Feiyan has gone to handle it.”

Upon hearing there was trouble at home, the guard didn’t hesitate and quickly went inside to call for He Tingyue.

Jiang Yu didn’t wait long before seeing the tall figure of the man.

She quickly explained the situation, voicing her concerns “Fei fei said your two siblings are on a fall outing at a park but Feiyan is going in the opposite direction. Comrade Tong Fang mentioned that Duan Yuzhen brought this news to Feiyan, and I think there’s something fishy about it.”

He Tingyue grabbed a bicycle. “Get on.”

Jiang Yu hurriedly climbed on, noticing he was taking her back to the shared courtyard.

“Aren’t we going to find Feiyan?”

“We will. First, we need to find out where she is. If Duan Yuzhen is acting out, it’s likely just a small scuffle, she won’t dare escalate it,” He Tingyue replied.

This aligned with what Xie Fei fei had thought.

Back at the courtyard, He Tingyue went straight to find Duan Yuzhen.

However, Duan Yuzhen looked shifty and denied it. “I haven’t spoken to He Feiyan, I don’t know where she is.”

Jiang Yu snapped, “You’re lying! Tong Fang saw you talking to her! You talked to her, and that’s why Feiyan ran out, it has to be connected to you! Why did you trick her into going to school?”

As soon as she spoke, Duan Yuzhen became even more defiant.

“I said I don’t know, I really don’t! You can ask me all you want, it’s no use. Maybe Tong Fang is the one fooling you.”

Just then, Jiang Ting appeared.

“It’s not just Tong Fang who saw it, I saw it too! Not only that, but I also heard! You told He Feiyan that her siblings were fighting at school and the teacher wanted the parents to come. I also saw you hanging out closely with some troublemakers from Daxin Alley, were you plotting something back then?”

Jiang Yu looked at Jiang Ting, surprised she would come out to say this.

But Jiang Ting shot her a cold smile. “What are you looking at me for? I’m not helping you, I have no ties with He Feiyan.”

Given He Tingyue’s background, being on his good side was beneficial.

Jiang Yu ignored her and followed He Tingyue’s lead.

There was only one path from there to the Third Middle School, and whoever tricked He Feiyan into coming here wouldn’t choose to act in the school itself.

So Jiang Ting must not have lied, it was happening in Daxin Alley.

When they finally reached the area, Jiang Yu understood why.

It was remote, and the few people scattered around were just troublemakers.

Some were playing cards, while others leaned against the wall, smoking and boasting.

He Tingyue scanned them and walked into the alley.

The alley was a maze, and unfamiliar faces could easily get lost.

But He Tingyue clearly wasn’t a first-timer.

He slowed his pace to protect Jiang Yu’s inner side.

Explaining to her, “Behind Daxin Alley is the black market.”

It was a less crowded area, likely to avoid trouble.

Jiang Yu’s eyes lit up, she had never been there, but her curiosity piqued.

As they walked, He Tingyue suddenly paused.

“Something’s happening.”

Jiang Yu blinked, confused, as she hadn’t heard anything.

Just then, a short, sharp scream pierced the air from somewhere nearby.

With so many paths, the sound seemed to echo from all directions.

“Feiyan! He Feiyan!” Jiang Yu called out.

The last response came from Xie Fei fei. “Jiang Yu! We’re over here! You damn street thugs, just wait until I send all of you to reform through labor!”

Hearing that she still had the strength to curse, Jiang Yu gradually relaxed. Thank goodness, everything was fine.

When they finally found Xie Fei fei and He Feiyan, the two looked as if they had found their savior.

They were cornered by a few troublemakers with no way out.

Jiang Yu opened her mouth, assessing the situation, it seemed the group was only trying to scare He Feiyan and hadn’t really meant to harm her.

But He Tingyue wouldn’t give them a chance to argue back, he just spoke with his fists, swiftly subduing them.

He Feiyan didn’t look frightened at all, arms crossed, kicking the nearest thug with blonde hair.

“Weren’t you all tough just now? Keep talking!”
