Chapter 546: To Steal Someone
Without knowing Ye Wenxin’s future, how could Wen Susu hope to make this unruly Demon Lord search for her missing pages?
Suddenly gripped with a terror of the unknown, Wen Susu pressed her lips together. A wild thought arose in her mind. Perhaps she couldn’t see Ye Wenxin’s future because their fates would soon become intertwined, obscuring Ye Wenxin’s future as well.
This thought filled Wen Susu with dread, making her more convinced of fate’s unbreakable grip. But if that were so, Wen Susu thought that perhaps, she would have to accept it. Mind made up, she clumsily climbed into bed and cautiously nestled beside Ye Wenxin.
“Stop staring at me. You’re like Fairy Fengya, always watching people sleep.” Ye Wenxin mumbled upon sensing Wen Susu’s presence. She rolled over and felt Wen Susu pressing close behind her. Too tired to bother with whatever Wen Susu was up to, she wished for a swift end to this night so morning could come soon.
Ye Wenxin awoke in the morning to find Wen Susu gone but could still smell the lingering scent of ink. After some thinking, she took a pinch of powder from her bag of holding and sprinkled it in the air. The powder emitted a faint blue glow, immediately erasing any scent on her body and the bed.
Because demons had such keen noses, the kitsune would quickly notice Ye Wenxin had spent time with Wen Susu. Thinking over her interactions with Wen Susu and the kitsune, Ye Wenxin felt an odd sense that she might end up capturing both.
Hoping this thought wouldn’t come true, she headed downstairs. Seeing various demons were already busy with their morning tasks, she set to work.
Mornings were usually the quietest, and midday was when things became lively. All the demons would glance in Ye Wenxin’s direction immediately after coming in, as if she was the reason for their gathering.
Ye Wenxin felt frustrated, but with Wen Susu absent, no one was around to explain the situation to her. So, she focused on her current tasks, quietly eavesdropping on the demons’ conversations.
“So this is Ye Xiaowen? She looks like an ordinary human to me.”
“Other than her flesh seems pretty appetizing, there doesn’t seem to be anything special about her.”
“Yeah, I don’t get what Lady Red sees in her, going so far as to make such a formal announcement.” When Ye Wenxin thought her entanglements might only involve Wen Susu or the kitsune, reality once again slapped her in the face.
She had considered it could be more of Wen Susu’s meddling or even the kitsune’s awakening. However, she had never imagined the red kitsune would publicly declare Ye Wenxin as hers after getting tricked by that illusion.
So, Ye Wenxin was even more eager to know what the red kitsune had done with her illusionary self. With this in mind, she sneaked to a quiet spot and summoned the white furball.
“Is there a way to see the illusions I created for others?” Ye Wenxin asked the furball. With a twirl, the furball transformed into a Colored Flag. The white Colored Flag waved in the air and created a portal displaying a vast expanse of white. This place was probably to be the world of illusions.
Considering she was on her afternoon break, Ye Wenxin stepped through the portal into the boundless white world.
Endless whiteness stretched around her, with only Ye Wenxin and the little white furball standing within this space. She looked around, curious about how she might view what the red kitsune had experienced in the illusion. Suddenly, she heard a soft, childlike voice.
“Master, whatever you think of can be realized here.” Ye Wenxin glanced at the white furball beside her. She didn’t fully understand how it worked but it seemed the white furball could talk within this space. After hearing the furball’s explanation, she looked around the empty area. With a thought, a small whirlwind rose to form a life-sized person.
This person had Fairy Fengya’s face, but her body was bare. Following Ye Wenxin’s mental commands, she began to move as if alive.
“I’m tired of seeing that expression on this face. Let’s add Ling Jue’s personality,” Ye Wenxin mused, directing her thoughts at the figure.
The figure’s expression immediately became animated. When she smiled at Ye Wenxin, it felt like the whole world had lost its brilliance. Ye Wenxin stared. She hadn’t realized the illusion could create something so lifelike, or how breathtaking Fairy Fengya’s smile could be.
That smile sent Ye Wenxin’s heart aflutter. However, she still believed her attraction for Fairy Fengya was only credited to her face.
The combination of Fairy Fengya’s face, Ling Jue’s personality, and Jin Xiaoqin’s curvaceous figure, created an enchantingly beautiful woman even more pleasing to the eye. Ye Wenxin continued to conjure other things—modern furniture and a house—decorating the illusionary space to resemble her Earth home.
But she was no longer alone in this recreated home. The illusionary figure kept her company, fulfilling all her mental desires. However, the subtle difference in physical touch left Ye Wenxin a bit disappointed.
She enjoyed herself immensely in this space until Auntie Panda called from outside. She hurriedly exited the magical place and went on with her busy day.
The nights felt overly long as Ye Wenxin entered the illusionary space again. She arranged her ideal home and kept busy late into the night. While this space was starting to become a source of enjoyment for her, she sensed she was forgetting something but couldn’t remember what it was.
Three days flew by like this. In the illusion, Ye Wenxin had decorated a luxurious villa. Illusionary versions of people she knew in real life were inside going about their tasks. It felt less like an illusion and more like she was playing a simulation game.
She also realized she was missing Earth, especially the comfort of soft drinks. No matter how perfect the illusion seemed, it was ultimately just a fabrication.
“Xiaowen, are you there?” In the dead of night, she suddenly heard the red kitsune’s voice. After exiting the illusion, she saw the red kitsune standing furtively by the window.
The red kitsune was in her human form, looking far from her previous defeated state. Although she couldn’t match her rival, the red kitsune was beautiful in her own right.
