1. Yao Guai/Demon Clan (妖怪)

  • Definition of Yao Guai/Demon Clan: are a concept in Chinese mythology and folklore, often referring to supernatural beings, monsters, or spirits, typically animal spirits or objects that have gained sentience. Usually animals or other non-human beings—who have gained intelligence and spiritual power through cultivation practices.

  • Definition of Demon Practitioners: Yao Guai cultivators are supernatural beings, often animals or objects, that have acquired the ability to cultivate qi (energy) and spiritual power to improve themselves, much like human cultivators.

  • Characteristics: Yao Guai beings seek enlightenment or power alongside human cultivators, though their paths and abilities may differ significantly. Their goal is often to attain immortality, greater power, or human form. Unlike ordinary monsters or spirits, Yao Guai cultivators can consciously engage in cultivation practices, study spiritual arts, and develop their powers over time.

2. Demonic Cultivators (魔修)

  • Definition: Demonic cultivators are practitioners of cultivation who harness dark or forbidden powers. They typically seek power at any cost, often using sinister means, such as human sacrifice or dark rituals, to enhance their abilities.
