Chapter 54: “Wife, Can I Stay Tonight?”

Even before they got their marriage certificate, Xu Muzhou had dared to enter Xiao Qingru’s room. Now that everything was official, he naturally wouldn’t pass up the opportunity. As soon as he entered, he pressed Xiao Qingru against the door and kissed her.

There was only one thought in his mind this was his wife, and they had the papers to prove it!

Feeling the man’s excitement, Xiao Qingru wrapped her arms around Xu Muzhou’s neck. The moment she responded, he grew even more unrestrained.

His strong arms hugged her tightly, lifting her slightly off the ground in his enthusiasm. Xu Muzhou was so tall that Xiao Qingru had to stand on her tip toes to reach him.

Once the kiss ended, Xu Muzhou buried his face in her neck.

“Qingru, I used to think this would only be a dream. It doesn’t feel real.”

“If it’s a dream, let’s never wake up.” She whispered, then leaned forward and kissed him again, receiving an even more passionate response.

Xu Muzhou’s rough fingertips grazed her skin, sending a shiver through her.

“The curtain isn’t closed yet,” she murmured.

Holding her in one arm, Xu Muzhou reached up to close the curtain, instantly dimming the room. He resumed his kisses with fervor, and she soon found herself falling onto the bed beneath him.

Xiao Qingru, overwhelmed, lightly tapped his shoulder, unable to speak but signaling with her gaze for him to be more gentle.

Noticing a blush blooming across her skin, Xu Muzhou paused and released her. His eyes darkened with desire as he took in the marks he had left.

He lowered his head and placed another series of kisses. Xiao Qingru’s face was burning, and she hurriedly buttoned up her blouse. “You should go now.”

“Honey, can I skip the dorm tonight?” Xu Muzhou’s eyes shone with a pleading look. “We’re married now, after all.”

“My dad said no.”

He sighed, “Then I’ll go after he’s back.”

“My brother is still downstairs watching you,” she said, half amused.

Xu Muzhou groaned inwardly. He knew her brother, Xiao Huaishu, would be an obstacle.

He stretched out on the bed with a playful complaint, “Am I the unluckiest man in the world?”

Understanding his meaning, Xiao Qingru flushed. “Can you think of anything else right now?”

“A man with his woman, on a bed?” Xu Muzhou grinned. “That would be impossible.”

“Xu Muzhou!” she exclaimed, playfully punching him.

Grabbing her hand, he pressed a soft kiss on her fingertips. “Honey, can’t you be nice to me for once?”

Seeing the longing in his eyes, Xiao Qingru understood but couldn’t maintain eye contact. She felt like she was sinking into a deep current of emotions, tempted to do something that left her heart racing.

“My brother’s still here, you should go.”

“Aww, don’t you want me to stay just a little?” he teased.

Xiao Qingru, now blushing even deeper, muttered, “Go on, it’ll be dark soon.”

Reluctantly, Xu Muzhou got up but took his time buttoning her blouse for her.

She protested, “I can do it myself.”

He shook his head, still wearing a serious expression. “I’m responsible for the mess I made.”

One by one, he covered the rosy marks with the fabric, then adjusted his own clothes.

Finally, he grabbed a book off the table. “I’ll borrow this, then.”

She softened, realizing his intention. “Sure.”

After giving her a quick kiss that resounded through the room, Xu Muzhou smiled, “If you’re free, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Yes, yes, now go,” she urged, her voice tinged with laughter.

With one last sigh, he headed downstairs.

Just as he was about to leave, her mother called out, “Xiao Xu, come home for dinner tomorrow after work. And while you’re here, sort out your food ration paperwork too.”

Xu Muzhou’s ration was still tied to the dorm cafeteria, so it would need adjusting once he and Xiao Qingru moved into their own place.

“Thanks, Auntie! I’ll just be adding a pair of chopsticks, hope it’s not too much trouble.”

Her mother laughed, “It’s no trouble. Where’s Qingru?”

“She’s tidying up her room. I’ll head off now, then.”

“Alright. Take care on your way.”

His things were all still in the dorm, so he knew staying would be inconvenient. It was just one month until the wedding he could handle that.

He took a deep breath and walked out, already counting down the days to when they could finally be together for good.
