Suddenly, the man with bunny ears clutched his stomach and started laughing.
“Oh! Looks like he’s feeling better. Good, good.”
“Zeke, you’ve brought along quite an amusing kid. They’ve crafted a legendary-level potion and only ask for a meat dish as payment?”
“…Well, it’s odd that you find that amusing, Brother.”
Contrary to the weary expression on Zeke’s face, the man with bunny ears was grinning broadly.
“Oh? For an adventurer, you’re pretty rigid in your thinking.”
“Brother, you’re just too lenient… Mei, are you really okay with just a meat dish as your reward?”
Zeke reconfirmed, but I wasn’t about to back down on this!
“It’s a matter of life and hunger! I want to eat delicious meat! And if possible, please teach me the recipe. Also, make it so I can buy tasty meat regularly. Please!”
As I made my heartfelt plea, the man with bunny ears nodded, laughing, and turned to Victor beside him.
“By the way, I heard we recently got some golden beef. Where did it go?”
“To The Golden Deer Inn and The Silver Branch Inn.”
“Something less formal would be better. Arrange a table at The Silver Branch.”
“Will Lord Herbert be attending as well?”
“Of course. It’s only proper for me to thank her in person.”
“Understood.”
“Then, let’s start with a delicious meat dish at The Silver Branch. As for the recipe… well, since we can’t just hand over the inn’s own recipe, I’ll have our head chef prepare something special.”
Yay! I got the recipe too!
With the recipe, all I have to do is gather the ingredients, toss them into the alchemy pot, stir it around, and voila—delicious food! Isn’t it amazing?
Now, I’ll be able to eat meat and vegetables to my heart’s content. Yay, it’s a dream come true.
All I need now is a fish recipe, and I’ll be set.
So, with a recipe, I could try any dish in this world, couldn’t I? Someday, I want to travel the world and collect recipes from different countries.
“Is golden beef tasty?”
“Yes. It’s called ‘phantom meat.’ It’s hard to find because it’s so cautious, but we managed to hunt one down in the Misty Forest.”
I whispered the question to Cloud, and his answer surprised me.
Wow, Zeke and his group managed to snag such rare meat! Lucky me! I wonder what it tastes like.
Being golden beef, I wonder if it tastes like Matsusaka beef. Can’t wait! ♪
I really shouldn’t call him “the bunny-eared guy” anymore. We all headed to The Silver Branch with Herbert, the lord of Lints, and his entourage.
I was worried about taking Robo to a dining place, but they assured me it would be fine since they reserved a private room.
Phew, that’s a relief.
It’s such a rare and exquisite meat; I want to enjoy it with everyone.
Oh, right. I should bring Koko a treat, too. Persio… well, he’s a horse, so he might not be into meat. But he’s also a Pegasus, so who knows?
When I asked Ermine, she confirmed that Pegasus mainly eat the magic-infused grass. They love herbs used in potions, so I’ll give him some later.
We arrived at The Silver Branch, which was supposed to be a less formal spot, but it was still quite impressive.
I’d imagined a more casual place, but it’s a lord’s dining spot, so it makes sense it’s a notch above a regular eatery.
We were shown to a spacious room by someone who seemed to be the manager.
As I was about to sit with Robo on my lap, the staff directed us to a small bowl prepared just for Robo in the corner.
“Okay, Robo, eat over here, all right? Be on your best behavior.”
“Woof!”
“Good boy.”
I petted Robo’s head as he obediently sat, then took my seat. Just as I wondered where to wash my hands, the staff cast a Clean spell, instantly refreshing me.
Clean spells are so convenient.
Since I can’t use magic, maybe I could make something similar through alchemy. Like a disinfectant cleaner.
Alcohol would probably be the main ingredient, right?
Come to think of it, there’s that 100% alcohol disinfectant spray. I should be able to make something like that through alchemy. I’ll check my alchemy book later!
Once seated, dishes started arriving, starting with the appetizers.
Hmm. The table manners here don’t seem much different.
Using the knife and fork from the outside in, I took a bite of the appetizer.
“…There’s no flavor…”
It was like eating plain leaves drizzled with olive oil.
Oh no! I need some dressing!
The vegetables from our garden were delicious on their own, but for ordinary vegetables, dressing is essential.
Dressing is just oil, lemon, and vinegar, right? And if you add egg yolk, you can even make mayonnaise.
If I could make those two, it would really elevate my meals.
Oh, I want to check my alchemy book right away. If there’s a recipe for dressing and mayonnaise, I want to make it immediately.
But it wouldn’t be polite to open a book with all these people around.
Still, I really want to enjoy these vegetables more.
French, Thousand Island, Japanese-style dressings… so many things I want to try making!
