Chapter 8: A World for Two, Part 2

Suddenly, Qin Lang asked a series of questions “Have you reported to the health team in the past few days? Are you familiar with the environment here? Do you cook for yourself every time? Have you met anyone? Is there anything missing at home? Do you need to buy anything?”

For these questions, Lin You answered truthfully and informed him that there weren’t many groceries left at home.

Qin Lang was quite satisfied with her responses and felt grateful for the captain and his wife’s care for her during these days. He realized she had always been obedient and well behaved, he had really worried too much. How could she go out alone? She was never one to venture out much or attend gatherings anyway.

Qin Lang glanced at her clothes again and complimented her, “They look good. You can wear them for me at home, but you should wear a coat when you go out.”

Lin You pouted, “What coat? Didn’t you just ruin it?”

Seeing her sulky expression, Qin Lang found her adorable, reminiscent of the way she looked when he had annoyed her during his first days at the Qin household. He couldn’t resist teasing her a little.

He leaned in and pecked her lips, then quickly pulled away.

Lin You’s face flushed bright red, and she hurriedly covered her mouth, staring at Qin Lang without saying a word.

Qin Lang wore a mischievous grin and leaned close to her ear, saying, “Weren’t you just enjoying it? Now you’re being shy?”

Hearing his shameless words made Lin You want to find a hole to hide in. Her cheeks were already flushed with embarrassment, and she inwardly cursed, “He really takes advantage and then acts innocent!”

“Well then, you can just not touch me in the future,” Lin You shot back defiantly.

Noticing the anger on her face, Qin Lang realized she might actually be a bit upset. He didn’t dare to tease her anymore, knowing it would only backfire on him. He quickly appeased her, “How could that be? You’re my wife, if I don’t touch you, who will I touch?”

Lin You had never realized he could be so shameless, mainly because they hadn’t had much time to talk.

Her face immediately turned beet red, and she retorted, “Shut up!”

Qin Lang dared not provoke her further. He turned serious and said, “Get some rest early. Tomorrow we’ll head into the city to buy some things. You’ll need to report to the health team on Monday, so you only have two days of freedom left.” After saying that, he lay down on the bed and closed his eyes.

Seeing his serious demeanor, Lin You got up and headed to the bathroom for a shower.

When she returned, thinking he must have fallen asleep, she quietly lay down on the other side. Just as she settled in, the man reached out and pulled her into his arms, prompting her to start struggling.

However, Qin Lang kept his eyes closed, holding her tightly as he murmured, “Wife, I’m really tired. Let’s sleep, I miss you so much.”

Noticing the dark circles under his eyes, Lin You remembered that he had just returned from a mission and must be exhausted, so she stopped struggling and settled comfortably in his embrace. His steady breathing indicated that he had indeed fallen asleep.

Lin You began to ponder his sudden affectionate words. Was that really him? He would say such sweet things? This was not his usual style. It seemed that the sleepy Qin Lang was even more charming.

Thinking back to what Professor Song had said, Lin You realized that Qin Lang did have feelings for her. From the moment she arrived, the neatness of the room, the familiar layout, and the similar tableware made it clear. Even the soft murmurs from him just now showed his affection.

She felt a mix of emotions, it was undeniable that she was touched. She agreed with Professor Song’s insights and recalled many past moments. During university, he always took her on outings, especially hikes. He would prepare everything, claiming that her physical fitness was poor, while he patiently waited for her to catch up.

At the time, she had been reluctant but didn’t dare refuse. Whenever they went hiking, she would deliberately slow down, yet he never got angry and always waited for her.

After their marriage, when he returned from abroad, she had started assisting Professor Song in surgeries and felt exhausted every day. He never mentioned taking her hiking again.

Then, every time they met, he was always eager for intimate contact, as if everything else had become unimportant except for that.

But today, he unexpectedly didn’t pursue her, instead, he had stopped. This was the first time! She felt an inexplicable sense of loss and gently slapped her forehead, scolding herself for having such strange thoughts. Had she been led astray by him?

She tried to push away his arm that was wrapped around her, but it was too firm, and it only hurt her hand.

Qin Lang’s murmuring voice broke the silence. “What’s wrong?” Lin You quickly closed her eyes and softly replied, “There’s a mosquito.”

Qin Lang chuckled lightly above her head, rolled over, and continued to sleep.

With her eyes closed, Lin You decided not to overthink things anymore and resolved to take good care of Qin Lang in the future.

In the morning, the wake up call rang through the barracks, and the two of them opened their eyes almost simultaneously. Their gazes met so closely that they could feel each other’s breath. Lin You was surprised to find her reflection in Qin Lang’s bright eyes. Remembering her decision from last night, she couldn’t help but smile slightly and softly greeted, “Good morning.”

Qin Lang broke into a radiant smile, quickly flipping over to pin Lin You beneath him. His eyes sparkled with fiery intensity as he eagerly kissed her lips, assertively taking charge. His hands became restless, skillfully slipping into her nightgown and gently caressing her smooth skin.

Overwhelmed by his passion, Lin You could only passively accept everything. Yet deep down, she realized he was still the same Qin Lang, unchanged at all.

When Qin Lang finally released her lips, Lin You gasped for breath. He then lowered his head, gently biting her earlobe, saying, “This is how you say good morning.”

Lin You’s cheeks instantly flushed red. She hurriedly pulled up the blanket to cover her head, not wanting to face Qin Lang’s intense gaze or let him see her blushing face.

Qin Lang didn’t reach for the blanket; instead, he gently reminded her, “I’m going to do morning exercises. You can sleep a little longer. Don’t bother making breakfast, I’ll bring some from the cafeteria. Hurry up and come out, don’t suffocate yourself in there.”

After saying that, he slipped his hand under Lin You’s night gown and gave her a gentle squeeze. Lin You quickly grabbed his hand.

At that moment, Qin Lang swiftly pulled off the blanket and kissed her forehead, saying, “Today I’ll take you to the city to buy some things. You can make it up to me tonight.”

Upon hearing this, Lin You’s eyes widened in surprise, thinking, “Now we’re seeing his true colors!” She turned over, tightly grasping the blanket to cover her entire body.

Seeing this, Qin Lang couldn’t help but burst into laughter before turning and walking out the door.

Just as he stepped out, he bumped into a comrade coming down the stairs, who curiously asked, “Captain, what’s got you in such a good mood?”

Qin Lang hadn’t expected anyone to be passing by, and his expression turned serious as he replied, “Nothing. Hurry along now.”

After Qin Lang left the room, Lin You uncovered the blanket. In the past, she usually never woke up when he got up, and he never woke her either.

These past few days, the wake up call had sounded at this time every morning, and she had grown accustomed to it, waking up on time. If she had known waking up would be like this, she would have pretended to still be asleep.

Qin Lang had said he would bring breakfast back, so she planned to sleep a bit more. However, she couldn’t find sleep after tossing and turning in bed, Qin Lang’s figure kept replaying in her mind. Eventually, she sat up and got out of bed.
