Chapter 94
Chapter 94: Is She Really a Genius?
Just as Sang Nian was about to talk to Xie Chenzhou, she noticed the woman walking towards them, so she pushed Xie Chenzhou away and listened attentively to the woman’s words.
The woman: “Mumble, mumble mumble.”
Sang Nian was completely confused.
She frantically poked Liu Liu:
“Do you have a translator?”
Liu Liu: “A bag of millet can download it.”
Sang Nian: “Deal.”
Liu Liu opened the system panel and operated it for a moment:
“If you add another bag of melon seeds, you can become a member and directly learn this language for barrier-free communication. Do you want to open it?”
Sang Nian: “Open, open, open.”
With a system prompt, the woman finally stopped saying “mumbling.”
She asked Sang Nian:
“Who are you, where are you from, and where are you going?”
Whoa, such philosophical questions.
Sang Nian thought for a moment and replied in their language:
“My name is Sang Nian, his name is Xie Chenzhou. We are humans from a foreign land, and we are here to find someone in the human gathering place.”
She paused and added:
“We have no ill intentions.”
Xie Chenzhou beside her was completely surprised.
Sang Nian whispered an explanation to him:
“I used an artifact and learned their language.”
Xie Chenzhou nodded, a hint of pride in his eyes.
The woman was also surprised for two seconds, then she was both shocked and delighted:
“You can speak our language?”
Sang Nian modestly said:
“A little bit.”
“Human, she’s a human.” The villagers whispered among themselves, excited and curious.
The young man beside the woman said:
“You’re going to the human territory? The bridge was washed away by a flood a few days ago, and you can’t get across.”
Sang Nian exclaimed, “Ah!”
“Can we take a boat or take a detour?”
“It would take months to take a detour,” he said. “As for taking a boat the waves are too big, the boat can’t get across. It would capsize.”
Sang Nian was a little disappointed.
“But we’re about to repair the bridge,” the woman said. “You can wait until we’re done.”
Sang Nian: “How long will it take to repair?”
The woman said: “About seven or eight days.”
That’s too slow. By then, the Heroes’ Gathering will be over.
Sang Nian thought for a moment:
“If someone helps repair the bridge, will it be faster?”
The woman: “Of course.”
Sang Nian said:
“Then we’ll help you repair it. Let’s try to get it done in three days.”
The woman said excitedly:
“Really? It’s very dangerous.”
How dangerous can repairing a bridge be?
Sang Nian didn’t mind, patted her chest and said:
“Don’t worry, we’re professionals.”
The woman said gratefully:
“Thank you for your help. Please stay here for a few days.”
Sang Nian: “Thank you, thank you.”
She asked again:
“By the way, I don’t know your name yet. Where exactly is this place?”
The woman said:
“My name is Qingyu. This is one of the places where the Zhuyu tribe lives, Muyun Village.”
Sang Nian’s smile froze suddenly.
The Zhuyu tribe?
The Zhuyu tribe from the book?
She looked around at the villagers, her face full of shock.
She remembered the content from that book.
The Zhuyu tribe, the abandoned people of the gods, their temperament is no different from demons, cruel and vicious, they love to eat humans.
They look like humans, both men and women are extremely beautiful.
They often use their beauty to lure human travelers.
But
Sang Nian looked at the kind and innocent villagers in front of her, her palms sweating.
Xie Chenzhou noticed her abnormality and asked in a low voice:
“What’s wrong? What’s not right?”
Everything is wrong.
A terrible guess arose in Sang Nian’s heart.
She patted his hand, signaling him to wait before speaking. When she turned back to face Qingyu, her expression had Guixued to normal.
“Then we’ll trouble you.”
Qingyu looked at her like a curious little animal, as if she wanted to touch her but was too embarrassed:
“It’s okay, we all like humans. We’ve always wanted to make friends with you, but we couldn’t because of the language barrier.”
Sang Nian smiled awkwardly, briefly told Xie Chenzhou about repairing the bridge. Xie Chenzhou had no objections and nodded in agreement.
Qingyu looked at him for a moment, her gaze slightly puzzled:
“Is he also a human?”
Sang Nian: “Yes.”
Qingyu nodded thoughtfully, not asking anything else.
A few birds circled down from the big tree, all with white heads and naked bodies, their tail feathers as bright and dazzling as flames.
Sang Nian blurted out: “Red Hen Bird?”
Qingyu said: “Mhm, they are our guardian spirit beasts.”
Another person said:
“It’s strange. Red Hen Bird usually drive away humans who trespass on Zhuyu tribe territory, but they didn’t drive you away.”
Sang Nian looked at one of the birds and tentatively called out:
“Thief Fat?”
The bird, which was preening its feathers, instantly raised its head and tilted its head to look at her.
“How do you know her name?” Qingyu exclaimed in surprise.
Sang Nian: “…I’ve seen her before.”
Qingyu understood:
“So, you went to Xiaohua Mountain when we were still alive. No wonder you know Zhuyu tribe language.”
Sang Nian felt even heavier in her heart:
“Do you remember how you died?”
The Zhuyu tribe people looked at each other:
“We don’t remember.”
Qingyu said:
“Beings who come to the Realm of Guixu after death only retain their happiest memories.”
Sang Nian didn’t know what to say. She nodded heavily, her heart filled with worries, and didn’t respond.
After bidding farewell to the other Zhuyu tribe people, Qingyu led her and Xie Chenzhou to their accommodation.
There was an empty wooden house in the village.
It was fully furnished, as if someone had lived there before, leaving behind many traces.
Qingyu said:
“A human came here before. She lived here.”
Sang Nian remembered the key:
“Was the person a man or a woman?”
Qingyu said: “A girl, just like you.”
She carefully observed Sang Nian:
“You two look a little alike.”
Sang Nian tentatively asked:
“Was her name Jing Xian?”
“Yes, that’s her name,” Qingyu said. “Do you know her?”
Sang Nian said slowly:
“She’s my mother.”
Qingyu’s beautiful eyes widened:
“That’s such a coincidence.”
Sang Nian: “Did anything happen when she was here?”
Qingyu shook her head:
“She stayed for a while and then left. She was unhappy every day. Sometimes, she would cry while looking at us, saying sorry over and over again.”
“But what was she sorry for? We didn’t even know each other then. She was just a passerby.”
After hearing this, Sang Nian was filled with doubts.
Was this also related to Jing Xian’s death?
What did she go through back then?
“Alright, we’re leaving.”
Qingyu reached out to the little girl who was still clinging to Xie Chenzhou:
“Come to your mother. Don’t let the guests carry you anymore.”
The little girl refused, hugging Xie Chenzhou’s neck even tighter.
Sang Nian thought she was cute and deliberately tickled her chin to tease her:
“What’s your name?”
She unconsciously used the language of the cultivation world. She didn’t expect the child to understand and answer, but to her surprise, the child stammered:
“…Wei… Wei.”
She was too young and couldn’t speak very clearly. She could only utter a few words at a time.
But she did speak.
“Your name is Weiwei?” Sang Nian said happily. “You can speak the human language?”
Weiwei looked confused, as if she didn’t understand what a human was.
Sang Nian pointed to herself and Xie Chenzhou:
“We are humans.”
Weiwei nodded as if she understood.
She was still holding two little red fruits that her father had given her. She generously handed one to Sang Nian:
“Eat.”
Sang Nian waved her hand:
“Thank you, you eat it. Sister doesn’t eat children’s things.”
She then gave one to Xie Chenzhou: “Eat.”
Xie Chenzhou turned his head: “I don’t want it.”
She still stubbornly put the fruit to his mouth, her speech slurred:
“Sweet… like.”
Xie Chenzhou said: “I don’t want it even if it’s sweet.”
Weiwei got anxious and repeated, emphasizing:
“Zhou, Zhou.”
Sang Nian was surprised:
“She knows your name.”
Are Zhuyu tribe children so good at learning?
Just by listening to her and Xie Chenzhou talk, she can master a foreign language?
Is she really a genius?
