In the hot August, the Gu family villa welcomed new guests.
A few days ago, a couple who had returned from overseas just moved in next door, and it was said that there was also a little boy who was the same age as the young master of the Gu family. The Gu couple both liked to be lively, so they immediately extended a warm invitation to the new neighbors.
In the living room of the Gu residence, the four adults were chatting happily, and no one noticed that the little guest slipped out from behind the sofa.
Six-year-old Yu Xi, wearing a shark onesie and a blue shark water bottle around his neck, was curiously playing with his own shadow in the corridor.
Strictly speaking, this was his first day in the land world, and everything he saw was new to him.
He was originally a little mermaid, suffering from a congenital disease, and an orphan, who had lived in an underwater hospital since childhood. After a high fever, he was confused and traveled into the children’s storybook at the bedside.
Not only can he run and jump now, but most importantly, he no longer has to lie in bed and is no longer an orphan.
Don’t be so happy!
Yu Xi blinked excitedly and looked up at the crystal chandelier on the ceiling. It was so beautiful, it looked like a giant glowing jellyfish.
What excited him most was that there was a private swimming pool hidden in the villa.
Although he had a poor sense of direction, he was instinctively sensitive to water. When the damp air hit him, his round almond eyes lit up and he followed the water. After being a human for a day, he really missed the sea.
Looking at the clear blue swimming pool, he couldn’t wait to jump in when he suddenly realized something.
He lowered his head, touched his clothes, and fell into deep thought.
How can humans go into the water wearing such thick clothes every day? But he raised his hands and fiddled with it for a long time, but he couldn’t figure out how to take off this one-piece suit.
He scratched his head, found a small corner to squat down, and grabbed the shark’s tail behind his clothes to study it. But just after he pulled it twice, he heard a series of crackling sounds coming from the empty space.
Yu Xi’s ears moved, and he looked up in the direction of the sound. He had never heard such a sound before, it was a bit like a handful of pearls falling on a wet reef, very crisp, but more powerful than pearls.
Yu Xi, whose attention was completely attracted, let go of the tail in his hand and ran towards the source of the sound with his short legs.
The sound became clearer and clearer, and it came from the room.
He paused to make sure he had heard correctly before approaching the door.
There was no light on in the room, and a faint light came through the crack in the door.
He raised his hand and knocked on the door gently. There was no answer from the door, but the clicking sound continued.
Yu Xi tilted his head and thought about it, maybe there was a machine inside.
He raised his hand and knocked on the door again, this time with a little more force. It turned out that the door was not fastened tightly, and it opened with just a little force.
He froze in his place. It wasn’t a machine at all, but a little boy sitting on the ground.
The little boy was wearing headphones, his head lowered, concentrating, his fingers tapping on a large notebook. He had seen this thing in a book, it seemed to be called a computer, and humans liked it very much.
A hint of doubt appeared on Yu Xi’s little face.
He couldn’t understand why someone would play computer games in the swimming pool’s lounge. The light was so dim and the place was so cramped. It was not comfortable to sit here at all.
The children’s book he wore tells the story of a human cub from a wealthy family who slowly changed his overbearing personality and finally became good friends with his classmates.
The protagonist is Gu Beilu, the young master of the Gu residence. Yu Xi used to envy Gu Beilu, who had so many people around him. Unlike him, he could never swim out of the ward to play with the mermaid friends.
Unexpectedly, when he woke up, he became Gu Beilu’s little neighbor.
Yu Xi looked at the little boy in front of him and insisted that this must not be Gu Beilu, because he just heard from the adults that Gu Beilu had gone out. There was no reason for a rich and domineering kid like Gu Beilu to hide in a place like this even if he was at home.
Moreover, he noticed that the boy had a wound on his knee, which looked pitiful, as if he had been bullied.
Yu Xi sniffed and recalled the time when he saw a little turtle being bullied by a big crab. It hid in its shell for a long time and didn’t dare to stick its head out. For a moment, he felt that the boy in front of him was very similar to that little turtle.
As if he finally noticed someone approaching, the boy sitting on the ground suddenly raised his face.
In the dim light, Yu Xi met a pair of alert eyes. The boy was startled for a moment, then immediately frowned like a little adult, alert like a cheetah in the dark.
But Yu Xi was just curious, he had never seen anyone his own age before. He squatted down, wanting to observe the human cub up close, just like he had observed the little turtle before.
The boy had three-dimensional facial features, and although he looked childish, his eyes were mature beyond his age, quite different from the human babies he had seen in picture books.
After a few seconds, he noticed that the warning in the boy’s eyes was becoming more and more obvious, and then he realized that he was also a human being now, and it seemed a little strange to look at his own kind in this way.
The boy was indeed angry at being stared at. He took off his headphones, slammed his computer shut, and looked at him even more fiercely.
This frightened Yu Xi, and he sat down on the soft shark’s tail.
The boy’s face turned cold, and he said impatiently: “I’m not going. Don’t bother me.”
Yu Xi didn’t understand this nonsensical remark, but he could see that the other party was unhappy.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. I just knocked on the door, but you were wearing that…” He pointed at the headphones, and his apology voice was soft and sweet, like marshmallow.
Although he was the one being bullied, he apologized very sincerely and thought he was the one who scared the other person.
Gu Beilu didn’t answer.
He was taking an online class very seriously when he was interrupted by this little shark that appeared out of nowhere.
He usually hated being interrupted when he was doing something, but the little shark’s apology was so sincere that it was like punching cotton. No, it was a cotton candy.
If it was a little kid, he would have burst into tears and ran away to complain after being yelled at like that. This little shark was the first child who was not afraid of him and dared to get so close to him.
Yu Xi suddenly thought of something, propped up his arms, stood up from the ground, and ran to the wall to turn on the light. The doctor said that staring at such a bright object in the dark is not good for the eyes.
But he overestimated his height. The little shark, who was just over one meter tall, jumped a few times but couldn’t reach the light switch at all.
He stood there scratching the back of his head when he suddenly heard a loud snap of fingers and the room lit up.
“Voice-controlled.” The boy’s voice came from behind, sounding a little softer this time.
Yu Xi exclaimed softly, “This is amazing.”
He turned to look at the boy and curled his lips: “Then sit still.”
Before the boy could say anything else, the little shark stumbled out of his sight and ran to the other side of the bedroom.
Yu Xi recognized the Red Cross logo, stepped on a chair, and with some difficulty took out the first aid kit and held it in his arms.
His small body can barely hold a box.
After a while, the panting little shark came back, and the boy stared closely behind him, as if to confirm something. After a few seconds, he was slightly relieved when he saw that no one was following.
This little shark is small in stature, but it is holding such a big box in its arms, and it looks like it might fall down at any time.
Somehow, he suddenly became very unhappy: “What are you doing holding this thing? Put it down.”
Yu Xi panted, bent down and put the first aid kit, which was not much smaller than himself, on the ground, then pointed at the wound on his knee and said, “You need to treat the wound, otherwise it will get infected.”
The boy followed his finger and noticed a shallow cut on his knee. So the little shark wanted to treat his wound?
He was stunned at first, then immediately pulled his knees back.
“I don’t want it. What do you know? Go away.”
Yu Xi’s hand stopped as he opened the medicine box. If the wound was not treated in time, the consequences would be serious. He knew this common sense after being hospitalized for so long.
It seems that the kid doesn’t trust him.
He pursed his lips, retracted his hand, and said patiently, “It needs to be disinfected. Can you please ask someone to bandage you?”
When the boy heard this, his expression suddenly changed.
“no!”
He straightened up and grabbed the fish fin on Yu Xi’s clothes with great force. Yu Xi’s small body was unstable and he staggered.
Fortunately, he held the person with his other hand.
Only then did the boy notice that this little shark was much thinner than him, half a head shorter, but very white and clean, with a soft body, as if it would be torn apart if the slightest force was applied.
Before Yu Xi could react to what was happening, he just saw the boy staring at him like a dog that was about to explode with anger.
It felt like it would pounce on him and bite him immediately.
He has always been afraid of pain.
“I, I’m not going. Don’t be nervous.”
The boy looked at him, not quite believing it. He held the fish fin tightly in his hands, refusing to let go, fearing that the man would run away if he let go.
The two little ones were very close to each other, and the boy suddenly realized something.
“Who are you?”
He had never seen this kid. Although he didn’t like to play with others, he had a good memory, and it was not so bad that he couldn’t even remember his classmates’ faces.
The little shark in front of him had rosy cheeks, bright almond eyes, and black hair that fell softly on his forehead. He was extremely well-behaved. There was definitely no one like him among his group of runny-nosed classmates.
Yu Xi suddenly sat up straight, put his hands on his knees, and introduced herself: “Hello, my name is Yu Xi. What’s your name?”
The boy searched quickly in his mind and confirmed that he had never heard of this name. It was just that the housekeeper said the day before that a new neighbor had moved in next door and his surname was Yu.
The housekeeper also said that all the children in the community would play in the yard today, and his parents asked him to participate in the group activities.
Allow him to stay in his room or study today.
He hated playing with the slugs in the neighborhood the most. They were too dirty, too noisy, and too stupid.
He would rather spend an afternoon studying at home than go out and play in the mud with them.
Today he was sent to the community playground by his housekeeper, but he quietly ran back alone, slipped into the room near the swimming pool through the window, and took a programming class on a computer he had hidden in advance.
That is, when I was climbing in, I accidentally hit my knee on the edge of the windowsill.
But he never expected that he would be found even though he was hiding so secretly.
Yu Xi didn’t know what he was thinking, and his eyes accidentally fell on the name tag on the back of his computer.
Derek.
“De…rek?” Yu Xi tilted his head and spelled it out carefully.
The boy frowned. There were not many children of this age who could recognize words. Where did this little shark come from?
But there was something more important at the moment. He put the computer aside and said word by word with a warning: “You can’t tell anyone that you saw me here.”
If his parents knew that he had secretly come back and hid away to take online classes, they would force him to go to the playground every day next week, he would not want to go.
So he spoke seriously, his tone unquestionable, and his hand holding the fish fin tightened.
Yu Xi felt his sleeves being pulled and tried to pull the fin back, but it didn’t move. This boy had really strong hands.
His clothes were pulled and he felt very uncomfortable. He felt a little wronged and didn’t understand why the other party was always so fierce: “I’ll keep it a secret. Can you let me go first?”
Yu Xi said this, poking the hand holding the fish fin, his eyes full of friendliness and sincerity.
But the boy was still worried and emphasized again: “Especially not to let the people in this house know.”
It must not be known to anyone in their family, including the housekeeper.
Yu Xi nodded like a chick pecking at rice, thinking that he was afraid of Gu Beilu, so he comforted him, “I promise, I will never tell Gu Beilu.”
In the story, every child was afraid of Gu Beilu at first.
The boy showed a puzzled expression and his hands loosened unconsciously: “Who shouldn’t I tell?”!
