Chapter 32: Punishment
On the back mountain of the training ground, the autumn wind howled, rustling the leaves. The cold autumn breeze felt ruthless, as if it aimed to freeze everything.
The biting wind pierced through clothing, making people shiver involuntarily.
Compared to this cold autumn wind, the chill emanating from Qin Lang was even more intense, sending shivers deep into the bones.
Wen Xin and Ye Qing exchanged puzzled glances, not understanding why they had just returned to the base only to be abruptly summoned. Was it to come to the back mountain to feel the cool breeze? They were filled with confusion but didn’t dare to speak up.
Only Qiong Hua stood quietly to one side, her expression calm, as if she understood the reason behind it.
Dan Ye stepped forward.
“Report, I have something to say.”
“Speak.”
“Captain, this mission was my fault. I shouldn’t have requested a last-minute change in the group.”
Qin Lang furrowed his brow, his ebony eyes narrowing slightly, radiating a cold light as he walked up to him and spoke each word deliberately
“We’ll settle your matter later.”
“Step aside.”
He then approached the female special forces soldiers, asking:
“Who was gossiping in front of my wife?”
He stopped in front of Qiong Hua “Who gave you the right to ridicule her and discuss her family? When have I ever given you a gift?”
Qin Lang’s eyes were cold, resembling an eagle in the night proud, solitary, yet imposing quietly watching Qiong Hua, whose heart felt a chill under his gaze.
She didn’t dare look him in the eye, lowering her head under his intense scrutiny.
Everyone understood the reason for Qin Lang’s anger, it was because of Doctor Lin. They recalled the day they had inadvertently encountered her and thought perhaps she had misunderstood.
Ye Qing was the first to ask “Captain, weren’t we on a mission that day? Did Doctor Lin misunderstand?”
Qin Lang’s gaze suddenly sharpened.
“I didn’t ask you.”
“If you’re not saying anything, it seems you all have too much time on your hands to gossip about others’ private matters.”
“In that case, we’ll have a late night intensive training session.”
Wen Xin seemed to recall something and stepped forward, raising her voice “Captain, I have something to say.”
“I told Sister in law about you saving Qiong Hua.”
She looked at Qin Lang, whose black eyes grew deeper. Hesitantly, she continued “I just didn’t want Sister in law to misunderstand and cause conflict with Qiong Hua.”
At this moment, Qin Lang seemed to understand everything.
It turned out that it was really Qiong Hua who had orchestrated this, no matter how influential her background was, he wouldn’t let her off this time. A blood thirsty smile appeared on Qin Lang’s lips
“Dan Ye.”
“I want to know who you like.”
He turned to the three female soldiers and asked “Do you know who your comrade is?”
He stood straight in front of Qiong Hua “Qiong Hua, will you say it yourself, or should I say it for you?”
Realizing the severity of the situation, Qiong Hua understood that Qin Lang was angry. Though he was smiling, the ferocity in his eyes was terrifying. She thought of her father and grew reckless, shouting at Qin Lang
“She was just an orphan, did I say something wrong?”
“What right does she have to marry you? Just because of a childhood joke? You’re betting a lifetime to promise her.”
“Why does she get you without doing anything, while I’ve done so much, and you don’t even see me?”
“I lied, telling them you saved me when you were in basic training, and I also tricked her into thinking you gave me a gift.”
Everyone couldn’t believe that Qiong Hua had been lying to them. Seeing her hysterical state now, they felt she brought this on herself.
Qin Lang looked down at her, his eyes narrowing “I don’t care who your father is. Go apply for discharge tomorrow. No army would want someone like you.”
Qiong Hua’s angry voice rang out again
“Qin Lang, you’re a fool. She doesn’t care about you.”
“Otherwise, how could she not care if you were hurt when you just returned, only remembering her grievances?”
“She doesn’t love you at all. Over the years, has she even looked at you once? What has she done for you?”
Qin Lang’s face darkened, his gaze cold “None of that matters. What matters is that I love her. You don’t need to know what she’s done for me.” His eyes sparkled with determination and passion.
After speaking, Qin Lang turned and left, heading down the mountain without hesitation.
Dan Ye walked up to Qiong Hua, disappointment and anger filling his eyes. He stared at her, his tone heavy
“Qiong Hua, I really misjudged you.”
His words were filled with deep reproach, as if he was immensely disappointed in her actions.
The other three women gathered around, their eyes revealing dissatisfaction and disappointment toward Qiong Hua. Ye Qing voiced everyone’s thoughts:
“We thought you were just this way, but how could you deceive others and ridicule them for your selfish desires? We used to think you were just straightforward, but now we see you’re so scheming. It truly disappoints us.”
Wen Xin stood silently to the side, watching everything unfold.
Concern filled her face, worried that Qiong Hua would be hurt by everyone’s accusations. However, she didn’t leave, instead, she chose to wait by Qiong Hua’s side.
In the end, the others gradually left down the mountain, leaving Qiong Hua to face her internal struggles and pain alone.
After midnight, when Qin Lang returned, he lay directly on the sofa, thinking about how Lin You must have felt wronged. After marrying him for six years, he indeed hadn’t fulfilled any of his responsibilities as a husband, allowing her to come to the base and be bullied by others.
She said he only desired her didn’t she see everything he had done for her?
He used to think his mother would take good care of her, but he overlooked the fact that he was the one meant to care for her for a lifetime.
Just like that, he opened his eyes to dawn.
When Lin You came out of the bedroom, she saw that Qin Lang had prepared meals and was waiting for her to eat.
But she didn’t want to see him at all and ignored him, preparing to leave.
Qin Lang hurriedly grabbed her arm, cautiously saying, “Yoyo, let’s eat something.”
Lin You shrugged off his hand and walked out.
Qin Lang had so much he wanted to say, but nothing came out.
